  1. Do you really think that's what'll happen? It'll totally challenge my view of what the establishment is if so; which would be really interesting tbf. We'll see I guess.
  2. I struggle to speak with -some- of them. It's not the kind of business where being management means people are scared of you or anything so I get on with quite a few people, even outside of work - the problem is that I tend to get sat next to the socially awkward graduate who has just left uni and struggles to look up from their dinner plate.
  3. Have to admit I'm a little curious!
  4. Going to the Botanist with work this year. I find Christmas parties a bit of a nuisance since I'm the only member of management young enough to be considered capable of staying out long enough for everyone to be happy, which means I have to see the whole thing through, pretty much. Also depends on who you get sat next to at dinner, some of the people I work with are very quiet and socially awkward, which is fine but a bit of a challenge if you're wanting to enjoy yourself.
  5. Wow. Although quite why PSG feel they're worthy of any manner of respect from British authorities over and above any other institution is another matter altogether. I can see why they're put out but it sounds like they knew this was on the cards for the past 6 days.
  6. No, not really. My point is that the centre left is doing no better anywhere else. Not that Corbyn is working wonders.
  7. I'm just saying a PLP led Labour party would potentially be doing no better...
  8. I'm just saying that the indications based on elsewhere in Europe suggest they'd be doing just as badly with a New Labourite in charge.
  9. Fair point I suppose. Is the Championship a pacier league though? I could see it being more physical... not sure about pacier...
  10. I'm looking for any positives at all, dammit
  11. ... but what positive factor does the second person 'drinking from you' bring to this, exactly? Fucking hell this forum has been eye opening for me.
  12. Interestingly, I read earlier that Corbyn's Labour are polling better than most other socially democratic parties in Europe. The ones who believe in Blair's 'third way'. So y'know, Labour could be doing worse, believe it or not.
  13. True. Could be interesting. Sarko just lost on an immigration ticket though, so maybe it isn't the main issue for them.
  14. Such an approach limits their impact though. If they just wanted to put journalism out there you'd be right, but they have an agenda to spread - they need visibility for that.
  15. Isn't the PL known for physicality and pace...?
  16. It depends who you think holds the power really. Trump will be president but I think he's got some way to go to properly overthrow the established order (if he even wants to). I'd imagine the media would remain with the establishment.
  17. If it continues like this, I genuinely think he'll just quit, probably 18 months into the job or something.
  18. I think they have accepted this, hence the pleas. They're worried, I suspect, about the hit to their circulation they would take if they paywalled their website. They're a popular site at the moment because they're free and have an active comment section. The latter will go when the paywall comes up. When the time comes for them to do it, I think I'll simply stick to the Economist. If I'm going to be paying for Neoliberalism, I may as well cut out the middleman (and the identity politics).
  19. I read a comment in the Guardian that suggested that it was impossible Le Pen would win given how their system works. She has enough to get to the final round of voting but that'd be it.
  20. Do you reckon this will be a constant theme, or just an initial show of strength? As in, will one side or the other back down? The media can't back down ffs, so it'll have to be Trump.
