I think it's just that they're newly promoted and the mackems consider them to have the shittest name and stature. -

You've got time, and just think how much more impressive/how pissed ewerk will be if you manage it now

I know, but surely more of us read Murdoch's papers than read RT. Look, my point was Murdoch is consolidating his power to become the most powerful media force this country has ever seen

Brilliant. -
Of course Russian media is. But we don't read Russian newspapers day to day. We do read Murdoch's.
-
The reason it works is because so much of our media (Murdoch) is biased and corrupt though.

I broadly agree with that. Fwiw I'm mostly just throwing it around because people expect me to. That said, Murdoch genuinely is the literal mainstream, and this move genuinely is a concern.

- best all round poster (football): The Fish (controversial!) - best all round poster (general): ewerk - funniest poster: Gemmill - most thought provoking thread starter: The Fish (football section only - in general I'd say HF) - poster you'd most like to go for a beer with: Monkey's Fist (but tbf I'd include half the board in this) - poster you'd most like to slap in the face with a wet fish: essembee is an obvious target but ffs I can't think of anyone better - thickest skin: essembee - thinnest skin: Stevie I guess? - best fact checker: Happy Face - biggest blairite: Renton - biggest trot: Paddock Lad since his views are fairly close to mine - most likely to end up in an insane asylum: The Fish, after years of ceaseless ribbing about Dummettgate - biggest hipster wanker: Dr Gloom - most sanctimonious: Probably J69 during his offensive against Renton, but tbf I don't think he's that bad at all really. - most missed former poster: CT - the leazesmag award for the poster most likely to start an argument with him/herself: Tempted to say CT again here given his flip flopping on issues. - best female poster: catmag

The thing that amazes me is that they've had this issue for almost a decade, they've had different people in charge of recruitment, but they still buy shit. You'd think it would have been identified as 'something to address' by now.

You didn't say erroneously though, you just said conflate. Hence you can just switch that word for 'combine' and get 'they've combined being good at football with being good at management'. Granted your meaning was implied, but apparently we're giving you no quarter at the moment. -

Decent result IMO, and the Fish has restored some of his credibility with his analysis beforehand in concluding that Wigan wouldn't let loads through. I'm wondering if Brighton applying this constant pressure is just what we need tbf - when we either get clear of them or fall behind, whichever way it goes, we'll look over our shoulders and find that we're about 20 points away from 3rd place. -
It does seem unlikely but then again Short was quite happy to sell off a number of their 'key' players for buttons over the summer and then fail to adequately replace them. £10m for Defoe would be an amazing deal for a 35 year old and Short may well conclude that they can reinvest that. Ultimately I think ewerk has the right of it, but Sunderland are a fantastically unpredictable club in this respect.

... I'm seriously not just saying this to be in on the joke here, but I think MF is right Otherwise you'd be paying Zola a compliment by saying that in him, they've combined being good at football with being good at management... wouldn't you?
