I think you're right, and fully agree that the difference this year versus previous years on such form is that there is just so much shit in the PL. One of the reasons in fact that I'm quite optimistic about our chances of midtable once we go up. But that aside, I expect Sunderland will get away with it. They've done this so many times it's borderline crazy to think they won't escape again.

Looking at it, it's hard to say. Sweden refuses to register crimes based on ethnicity so we can only say that since immigrants started entering the country in substantial numbers, incidences have increased. However, that may also be because the definition of what constitutes a rape has increased: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/sweden-and-denmark-have-highest-number-of-sexual-assaults-in-europe-a6800901.html Here's the Guardian's Cologne report: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/jan/06/tensions-rise-in-germany-over-handling-of-mass-sexual-assaults-in-cologne I think it's important to be honest in all this one way or the other, not that I'm actually saying that any of this constitutes proof that the guy you were arguing with has a point.

There's a lot of talk from the 'right' about how immigrants from the ME coming into Western democracies leads to a spike in sexual assaults and so on. I don't know how true it is but it's not surprising that some people will believe it. The Cologne attacks didn't help with the spreading of this concept.

Aye but it'll be a galvanising moment nonetheless. If every second shot goes in, it'll bolster self belief.

I refer you to 'countries where marital rape is not a criminal offence', which looks broadly to be made up of middle eastern countries to me: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marital_rape#Countries_where_spousal_rape_is_not_a_criminal_offence

Not sure the two definitions of rape are the same there, mind. Is unwanted sex in marriage considered to be rape in the Middle East? Could be arguing apples and oranges.

This does actually look like fun

4-0 against Palace away from home is an undeniable self belief moment though. Be interesting to see what happens, either way.

Ewok.

Aye but they've got Cattermole coming back from injury remember. His inevitable first game back red card will be a turning point for their season, just you wait!

The sequel has received a barnstorming 1 out of 5 stars in the Guardian. Sure you aren't tempted?

Ok that's actually at least a good reason. -

I can't remember any reason to hate Nottingham Forest... it's hard to keep up with these things though. Was it just the Lansbury bollocks earlier this season? -
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/feb/09/ecuador-julian-assange-embassy-notice-eviction Looks increasingly likely that Assange will be either evicted from or walk out of the Ecuadorian embassy. 4 and a half years is an impressive stint of self imprisonment. He has some mental toughness about him.

You're actually kinda selling it there...

Nah she's not that kind of character. More a paranoid, crazy mothering figure. Well acted though.
-
The guardian doesn't perform too well there. Also, who put that together. I'd agree with it mostly but curious nonetheless.

That has to be a skill of sorts tbf. I wish I could do that

I'd also be interested in your solution.

It'll be interesting to see how the Tories spin it though. That jibe about Labour needing an alternative leader though Desperation from May, she clearly had no idea about this.

Corbyn actually landed a blow on May today Sweetheart deals for Tory councils are apparently taking place. https://www.theguardian.com/society/2017/feb/08/jeremy-corbyn-accuses-may-of-sweetheart-deal-surrey-council-tax

I think we should be ok for this one. The points about counterattacking and Wolves sitting back do suggest we'll have some difficulty, but Rafa should be able to work past this.

This is a bit surprising, but then I was also a bit stunned when half the German team retired after winning the World Cup. Hard to argue he isn't one of the greats though, at least for Germany.
