Actually think it'd be interesting to take him alive...
  2. Now that's a controversial opinion. True, though.
  3. That's why I selected Armstrong from that list Bit harsh on the lad but of all of them he's probably least ready for the PL.
  4. I'm just saying it's because people are nervous - because this isn't straightforward, we're dropping points at the moment, and other teams are quite close to us. If Huddersfield had beaten Bristol and, as we assume they will, won their game in hand - wouldn't that change the complexion of things a bit? Finer margins at play than some are prepared to admit here. And while yes, I think we're odds on for a fairly comfortable promotion (and probably also the league), it's going to be partially down to huddersfield dropping off at the same time as us, not our invincibility.
  5. There's nothing we can do about their games no - but we can win ours, and at the minute we're dropping easy points. To be quite honest, had we managed to beat Bristol and Birmingham, we'd be absolutely untouchable by now. We didn't fail to beat them because they have better sides than we do, which suggests that the underlying reason is more likely complacency or struggling under pressure. Both of those two things would be a worry in a tight run in - which is what we're lining up for. I'd suggest it's more likely to be complacency than anything else given how we despatched both Brighton and Huddersfield, and that's the scenario in which you'd expect fans to get angry.
  6. We clearly are good enough to do that, yes. But we are also being quite fortunate with results going in our favour elsewhere. Huddersfield losing 4-0 to Bristol was not something I expected. Brighton's loss was more predictable but even so, if we accept that Leeds 'should' have beaten them, we must accept that they 'should' also give us a game. I think if it was just us and Brighton clear at the top no one would care. It's definitely Huddersfield that have people worried - though I do take your point that they're not exactly capitalising on our wobble.
  7. Expecting to see Colback win this by a landslide despite not being the worst player there
  8. To play devil's advocate, I suspect that a lot of people just really want us to go up, and are really concerned by how close it is. People deal with pressure in different ways and the emotional response to this is probably clouding people's rationality. They would presumably argue that while yes, we're in a good position, we're also in a poor run of form - and the top of the table is really tight. To be honest, I didn't expect us to still be top at the weekend after failing to beat Birmingham. We are, but that's not because we're playing really well at the moment, it's because Huddersfield and Brighton are struggling for form as well as us. No one should be going on at Rafa or complaining generally given how the season is going, but I think a nervy finish isn't helping. Had we entered into this run of poor form and we were 10 points clear, I don't think it'd be bothering people very much.
  9. Google defines it as 'the use of violence or intimidation, especially against civilians'. I guess that could fit what you're talking about, it doesn't have to be about killing - Killing certainly seems to be the way to get attention though. I don't think it involves attacking the military though, surely that would be armed resistance or guerrilla warfare or something?
  10. If it were me, I'd still centralise to my parents. You guys have a startling amount of trust in credit agencies, and I'm not sure what it is they've done to merit this
  11. He took my advice Which suggests Fish and I have similar levels of 'not worth the risk' considerations. Seriously though I'm always concerned with this kind of thing. A friend of mine advised that he was marked down on his credit score because his mum had declared bankruptcy at some point in her life... if they'll consider that, who the fuck knows what else they might factor in.
  12. Not sure but it's a risky proposition. If you can centralise your address at a parent's house or something it might be best.
  13. Really is getting stupid now with Corbyn. Although we appear fucked now so yeah. Let's hope the centrists can take back control and deliver on their bold vision for the future.
  14. All depends on how much money is available as has been said. If the club is turning a profit, or Ashley can at least see how profit can be secured with modest investment, then I suspect all will be fine. Especially since we still technically have about £30m left over as 'available' to start with. At the end of the day, you have to believe that Ashley can see how staying competitive in the PL is literally the only way to guarantee the regular income of cash. The alternative being the Sunderland model, wherein they're broke and being relegated. He can still use his 'buy young players' mantra, and still sell them on at the right moment, but he needs to keep us competitive to maximise the chances of doing this. That said, all of this has been apparent for years, and it hasn't stopped him ceasing to make funds available. I sometimes wonder how much of that is Ashley and how much of it is Charnley being totally under qualified and far too weak.
  15. It's an interesting one. He could be entirely right of course, but I rather fancy he's blind to the shortcomings of his own side in all of this. But look, we're going to have Corbyn ousted soon enough, and then the centrists can get back in charge, lose miserably, and commence another round of soul searching that won't be at all their fault because reasons. He's got the Overton Window bit ass backwards as well. The plan was never for us to expand the press' window - that's the press' problem and no one else's. Good luck to them on sorting that out but honestly, who gives a fuck.
  16. Even if Huddersfield win their game in hand, we're 4 points clear. Despite the disappointing result, we moved further away today.
  17. This sounds interesting and i'll give it a listen later. That said he sounds right. The only thing I'd add is that the realities of what people are voting 'for' aren't perhaps as important as the surrounding narratives.
  18. Nicely done. What's your endgame? Tweeting your findings to Wikileaks?
  19. Hang on, catch me up a bit here cos I've stuck with this without fully understanding what it is you're doing. What has this newsource done wrong, in your view?
  20. No, but it is what he was hired for.
  21. I don't think he will full stop. He looks like this is already getting to him. If he wins the CL with City in the next couple of years then I'm happy to eat my words, but I suspect he'll fail because actually, he's not good enough to do it in the limited amount of time he'll get (and I question if he's mentally strong enough to stay long enough to do it also). Inherited great teams at Barcelona and Bayern and made them invincible. Takes a lot of skill to do that, but he's coming from much further back with City.
  22. True. I should clarify. He won't win the CL with City while playing that way. EDIT - FWIW I hope he doesn't change; they're a great side to watch at the moment.
  23. He's blind to defensive frailty though. He's come out and blamed their attack for them going out. Their attack that scored six goals over two legs. He has a touch of Keegan (as he was believed to be, at least) about him. Attacking relentlessly. I imagine City fans are loving the style but he's not going to win the CL that way, which is why this will end badly IMO.
  24. I'd say Shearer but only saw the tail end of Beardsley's career so not sure I can compare fully.
