  1. You're right on the first statement there tbf, that does encapsulate our view points. Not sure I'd go so far as to say the 'demise' of Neoliberalism, but more the readjustment to better serve more people. I don't think it'll bounce back the other way as such, I just think it'll force the left and centre to realign themselves behind people again. The left is never going to win in its current guise, and the centre is in the same boat now IMO, or at least heading that way. I'm still hoping for an Alt Left.
  2. Aye but that's because you think he's there because people are hateful idiots, and that this in turn means that they're a problem we have to solve by virtue of who they are. Whereas I think they're desperate idiots, who've been ignored by mainstream politics - and that this is going to force mainstream politics to change for the better (because it'll die if it doesn't).
  3. I didn't say you shouldn't worry. You absolutely should, as your set of opinions and general belief structure hasn't taken you to the same conclusions as mine. I'm just saying that I'm not worrying. Not yet at least.

Aye, I saw that post too. I know I get stick on here for complaining about SJWs and the regressive wing of leftist politics, but Canada is the nation that most closely encapsulates their value systems. So it's not an entirely surprising move from them, especially with Trudeau in charge.
  5. Well no, I'm concerned about Article 50. Fuck knows what we're going to get out of that. I'm just not worried about Trump. Not at the moment at least.
  6. But seriously though, he's being stopped all over the place on almost every issue. I'll start worrying about it when he actually does something damaging. If he gets through the whole presidency having been kept within the range of a standard republican president, I'll be satisfied that he was more (unwitting) good than he was actual harm.
  7. Exactly. Which all the more endorses the view that this was something that needed to happen to shake the Neolibs up. Remains to be seen whether this lasts of course, but as things stand I'm pretty relaxed about this.
  8. I'm glad he's having problems with it at least. It does seem as though the 'threat' Trump poses is a lot smaller than we were originally led to believe

In intriguing news, Canada is passing an anti-Islamophobia motion in which the government will single out Islam for special treatment under governmental policy, and to crack down on criticisms of it. Because that's the way to go here. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/canada-parliament-anti-islamophobia-motion-pass-muslim-irqa-khalid-david-anderson-racism-faith-a7647851.html

Yep, very true. I wonder how far those proporations differ from the rest of the demographics though. Well, the homosexuality part at least. I'm guessing blasphemy isn't a big issue for your average guy on the street.

The rest of the survey notes: • A large majority of British Muslims feel a strong sense of belonging to their local area (91%). This is higher than the national average (76%) • A large majority of British Muslims feel a strong sense of belonging to Britain (86%). This is higher than the national average (83%) • A large majority of British Muslims feel that they are able to practice their religion freely in Britain (94%) • British Muslims are more likely than the rest of the population to feel that they can influence decisions affecting Britain (33% vs 21%) • British Muslims are more likely than the rest of the population to feel that their local MP reflects their views (44% vs 41%) • 88% of British Muslims think that Britain is a good place for Muslims to live • 78% of British Muslims would like to integrate into British life on most things apart from Islamic schooling and some laws

At the same time though, I think there was a channel 4 study that said a third of Muslims wouldn't turn in someone they suspected to be planning a terrorist incident. Not saying that's true, but it was a poll of Muslims. EDIT - Sorry, it's a third -would- turn them in (and it's concerning Syria rather than terrorism). Not sure what the others would do, but there's probably not enough information to make a sensible judgement: http://www.channel4.com/info/press/news/c4-survey-and-documentary-reveals-what-british-muslims-really-think

Nice move from them. Should help to detoxify and he issue a bit.
  14. No great surprise. UKIP falling apart at the seams.
  15. That was a great avatar. Are you sure he wasn't trying to hit on you though...?
  16. Aye really good but I find it depressing also

They're entirely correct on that front.
  18. Has he actually done anything of note this year? I was under the impression that he's been barely visible even when he has played.

I don't think they consider us assets. Maybe you could argue somewhere between the two.
