  1. They do it through TV and computer screens
  2. It means how the public perceive a particular event or scenario.
  3. You're not wrong on the optics element. Highly contentious to go into an election with a view of paying MPs more money. Although if they did it with a 'no moonlighting' clause, that would be more palatable.
  4. While I totally get your point, these are people who could probably earn more outside of politics if they wanted (see Osborne and Johnson). They should be above it but they aren't.
  5. It's in the region of £70-80k I think. But then I think they get more for actual ministerial positions. It's weird though, because the chief exec of Newcastle City Council earns more than the PM.
  6. I see. Highly credible stuff.
  7. Where is this news even coming from... I can't see it being reported anywhere.
  8. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/apr/22/lib-dems-no-coalition-tim-farron-general-election "Lib Dems won't make coalition deals"
  9. Why in hell would the Lib Dems be considering that... Just why.
  10. This is what US TV producers think Geordies sound like:
  11. Surely if this is an incompetence issue it won't just be heads rolling, it'll be criminal negligence. Horrific news, I can't think of a much worse scenario.
  12. The thing I find slightly odd about all the swapping of 'r' and 'L' is that it's the Japanese who do that. The Chinese have loads of words with 'L' in it. If you're going to stereotype a country, at least get it right ffs
  13. Ah, ok then. I did think it would be remarkable that it wasn't front page news everywhere else
  14. No idea how reliable the Express is generally, but this is pretty huge if true - Sinn Fein flying to London to go through Westminster induction... possibly to take seats? You can sort of see why they would what with May 'taking a side'. http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/816361/theresa-may-queen-jeremy-corbyn-sinn-fein-gerry-adams-arlene-foster-dup-westminster
  15. Good man Might want to wait until it actually goes through though
  16. Yeah, saw that. If nothing else, it doesn't help make them look any more trustworthy.
  17. If the Tories bin austerity I'm taking that as a fucking win, because it's the great evil of our time. They won't though because the entire ideological basis of their party is the cutting back of the state. If they stop doing that, they may as fucking well be Labour.
  18. Oh ffs. Just ffs. Has any Chinese consortium ever worked? Are they gonna change the club badge, strip colours, who the fuck knows what else? Let's see I suppose but it's concerning.
  19. Have now thought about this some. If there's a cross party deal on it, it takes Brexit out of the political one upmanship equation. Now, the Tories have been relying on Brexit completely in order to win votes in an anti-austerity time. Taking that out and making it a cross party project means they have to be judged on their non-brexit merits. No reason for Brexiters to vote for them, in theory. So Labour could still come out of this with a win even if they do pitch in on the project.
