"Hundreds of millions of years ago, people were trading for rocks and stones." That's amazing.

Ah so you think the 'story' is ridiculous. I agree tbf, but there it is. You want me to post a picture with today's newspaper or something? I want to stress that I knew nothing about this watch or its value (or lack thereof). Moreover, I didn't buy it, so it's hardly any form of statement with respect of my wealth. I don't even own a house man
-
Well put.
-
I mean, my degree was Chinese. So I was with a lot of people who thought the same way tbf. The year in China was good, but also showed me that living there long term wasn't something to aspire to.

Nothing would surprise me about these guys.

It's nice to be rewarded in some manner of another for good performance. Public sector does seem to have a lot of perks - and pensions that might actually be worthwhile...
-
So, because it was a 'gift', they notice it and compliment me on my 'taste in watches'. Our board meeting humour really is that bad. I'm sure it's not over a grand though.
-
Because in my late teens, early 20s, I actually did want to live in China. I've not actively studied it since then. Yep, it's crazy expensive.
-
At the risk of revealing my ignorance, I don't really know if it's worth very much. Plus I do need to wear it for board meetings...
-
China sucks I probably would if I could get into Hong Kong. Or I would have, but with the Chinese government cracking down on it, I'm becoming less keen. If the opportunity had come up in my 20s I would have, but quality of life is more important now. And China has very little of that.

We had a good year - although to be honest, I think it was part of a strategy to emotionally compromise me into not asking for more money
-
I don't really wear watches but I have a Longines that I was gifted from work. Which I don't wear because watches are uncomfortable. It comes out for the quarterly board meeting but that's it

I'm pretty good with language learning - with 5 years, I'm actually factoring in twice as much time as it took for me to become fluent in Chinese Hopefully it's enough! Agreed on the beer - genuinely think I'd enjoy living out there. The publishing scene there is fairly strong too.
-
Fucking everywhere is full of SJWs man. But yeah, not expecting to be easy. I can learn the language to fluency in 5 years mind + 6 months living there mind.

Good point. I'll have to start giving it some serious thought. My boss has just relocated himself to Spain in order to ensure that he has an escape route. Apparently if you spend £500k on a property out there, they can fast track your citizenship.
-
If I stay with the company I work for, probably Spain or Germany. If I leave, Germany or the Netherlands. I need 5 years because I'm not prepared to leave my job yet and the company itself isn't quite at the point of establishing itself on the continent. The missus speaks fluent French so France would be an option, but... dunno, never really fancied it. What I'm fairly certain of is that I don't want to be in the UK while it works out how to be a functional state in a post-Brexit landscape.

Guilty. Have been listening all morning. Am not cheering up.

There are elements of the way he works that you genuinely have to admire.

Suits me - I can definitely get myself out of the country in 5 years. 2 would have been a stretch.

The OFFICIAL Transfer Rumours Thread 2018 -2019

Based on my experience of football manager, I'd say that they sit in the reserves and bitch and moan about playing time. -
We're they good? I never saw them live.
-
Absolutely gutted by that one... RIP Chester.

I know that nobody cares, but Vince Cable is the new leader of the Lib Dems. I had a lot of time for him once, but it turns out there are indeed unforgivable sins.

Kind of a bizarre thing to say actually. What did Darlow ever do wrong? He was fine last season.
