I can't wait until they're back on the map as a vaguely normal country. The stories those people must have...
-
I would have absolutely no problem with China just taking North Korea themselves. I suspect that'll be what happens in the end, one way or another.
-
Was an anti-aircraft gun wasn't it? Yep, I get what you're saying. Still though, hard to imagine there isn't some manner of domestic front. Human beings are not exactly compliant.
-
Yeah fair enough I suppose. Hard to imagine a state exists where he has absolute domestic control but I suppose that's how it is. Impressive regime, based on that. I wondered to a degree if he felt a need to pander to his generals, and put up a strong front - see off any potential coup.
-
Well if that's true then you're right. I don't see what he thinks he's gaining though, unless he's just hopelessly under-informed about US military power...
-
Pointless scaremongering... I assume that vote will go through pretty easily to be honest, although the bid to appeal to Chinese households there will likely be successful.
-
It's all to paint a picture on the domestic front though, isn't it? If it is, that suggests that he actually is under internal pressure on the home front, to some degree. I'm not sure exactly how, but it's there nonetheless.
-
I'm all ears if there is any. I'm just saying that I've not seen it - and keep in mind, I watch all manner of right wing shite in a bid to understand issues from all sides. If such people (who are always slating Corbyn) aren't setting up a convincing case for a cult of personality around the guy, then I'm really not sure there is one. He's popular, but I would suggest that's because of what he represents.
-
Ah apologies, we're talking about a personality cult? Again, with Corbyn, I've only seen right wingers and Blairite Labour voters talk about such a thing existing, but haven't seen any actual evidence of it myself. The guy is a hugely flawed politician on many levels but as you say, is a net positive in the political climate.
-
Depends on how Brexit goes. If Corbyn remains the only viable alternative when it all falls apart, he'll clean up. I've seen a lot of people suggesting Momentum are cult like but I've not seen it personally. I think they're confusing them with a fringe group (progressives) that admittedly have some presence within that movement, but which aren't guiding it (thank fuck). I genuinely think Dugdale has gone because of the mess she made in the GE. Can't comment on the SNP as I've not looked into them, but tribalism in politics is on the rise sadly. At the expense of rational pragmatism.
-
I wonder when the regime will collapse in NK. It has to happen one day.
-
Maybe she was, but she encouraged people to vote Tory in the GE (to keep out the SNP). That's unforgivable iyam.
-
Kezia Dugdale has resigned as Scottish Labour leader, which, given the Scottish Labour performance in the GE, is absolutely a good thing. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/aug/29/kezia-dugdale-resigns-as-scottish-labour-party-leader

I'm fully resigned to this shit now I have to say. I don't know what the Brexiteers expected, but I note with interest that all shareholders in the business I work for, including our CEO, have relocated to Europe in the past few months. The rich escaping as usual.

That's the sort of deal we should be all over. Charnley doing some of his best work here clearly. -

Yeah but why would they have sold the other guy in order to net spend 3m for basically the same result... Was it a release clause? -
Yep. The only thing that makes me wonder is the reticence to break our transfer record.

This is all good news ultimately though. Riviere was going to offer nothing, as would Haidara and Hanley. Probably the same for De Jong. Offloading such people should mean that what we've been told is a major constraint (the size of the squad) is more under control. I reckon we'll get someone in, although who and for how much is another story. -
Yes, they're both grown men at the end of the day. I'm sure they'll sort it out since it's in both of their best interests as long as they're both here.
-
Nothing has happened yet and Ashley won't sack him. I doubt he'll walk either. Most likely scenario is that another club come in for him. Either way let's just enjoy it while he's here.
-
I thought they'd made a decent start but they're hovering above the relegation spots at the moment. Not looking good for a promotion push even if it is only 5 games in.
-
This is true like - Mitro is a genuinely decent player. We shouldnt be getting rid.
-
That could all be true, but my view has generally been that people were desperate for change and to make a statement rejecting the centre. So, if Trump "fails" to solve the problem, they'll look for other options. Which is where I hope the left comes in. I do see the logic in your position, bit it comes down to whether you think Trump and Brexit were expressions of right wing xenophobia more than they were expressions of frustration with his things have gone in recent years.

I never thought he was a good thing per se. In fact I never even thought he'd be better than Clinton (in terms of actual ability). What I did think was that if we got Clinton we'd be more likely to get someone with the same views as Trump but who might actually achieve something, after her. So given that he still hasn't achieved anything high impact, I'm warily still in the same position. Although his interventions into Afghanistan makes me think Parky is right about the deep state...

Pardoned from his crime of illegally targeting Hispanic people in an anti-immgration drive. You can see why Trump did what he did but why the fuck is he allowed to? If the guy broke the law, and by all accounts it seems he did, then he should go to prison. Why on earth is the fucking president allowed to just wade into the middle of it and say he's good to go?
