Just noticed that there's a time cap on it though. You can't boost beyond a certain level. So it's useful but not OP. As you say, you need the other two to be really very good to force their way through. Still going to give it a try.

I'm more positive now, than at any point in the past two years, that I have the right of this. Capitalism has served a grand purpose, but has been soiled and degraded by parasitic rich people. They need to be removed if it is ever going to recover. And if they won't be removed, a new system will replace them. The centreground has nothing to offer until it embraces this, and its refusal to do so leaves us in a battle of extremes. They're playing you for a fool by making you think that what you're supporting is the same capitalism that brought us to such a high standard of living. It's not. What's on offer now is a toxic and cynical wealth grab. Money funnels upwards. Which is why the standard of living is falling. I'm not saying you have to believe Corbyn's vision - and I've said before that politically, I'm a centrist with socially left wing leanings - but you have to choose something that will fix this. And the options on the table are far right, and moderate left (that the media is trying to call far left. Far left would be if they were calling for an end to private ownership of literally everything). Choose moderate left. Any other choice just makes the far right more likely to win. The centre has nothing to offer until we solve this ideological identity crisis.

Nice, that's the level of assessment I'm used to. Carry on then.

I'm mostly trying to mitigate people's expectations so that we don't end up seeing this as the lifeline that will save us from Ashley. We are not blessed enough for this to happen to us. We're just not.

This almost sounds like you're saying all of this worked out in the end? It hasn't. The model has failed in a holistic sense if nothing else. For whatever gains were made economically, and there were many - a lot have fallen away since 2008. This has given rise to political unrest in the form of Brexit and Trump which is further exacerbating the whole thing. Neoliberalism, which is defined by the privatisation of state assets for the generation of wealth for a small number of people, has, without question, fucking failed. It has thrown the world into turmoil, and is probably going to ring the death knell for the dominance of the Western political sphere in global affairs. If Corbyn's model offers a form of political and social healing while also providing a stimulus to the economy then quite frankly, the free market capitalists can get to fuck. The problem in truth was never the free market - it was the rich who corrupted it and moulded it into something that benefitted them beyond any sense of fairness. That model has to die. It can't survive, it's too damaging.

Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER
Rayvin replied to Sonatine's topic in Newcastle Forum
Euro 96 was my first real tournament in terms of really being old enough to care, and I remember going through all the emotions against Germany, I remember being heartbroken that we went out. I can even remember being ecstatic when Michael fucking Owen scored that goal against Argentina in '98. It all started going downhill after that for me. Never cared for the golden generation really, although I continued to watch them. I finally stopped caring completely when I stayed up until 5am to watch England draw with Algeria in South Africa (was in China at the time). I was going through the motions at that point anyway and it made me realise that they don't deserve any support whatsoever. Even watching on the TV. -

And before him, Roy Hodgson. It's hopeless. The FA are so far out of touch that it's not even worth hoping that this will turn around someday. Even if they weren't though, it's the PL that killed England really. I would choose Newcastle over England every time - even with Mike Ashley, relegations, and all the utter shit we've had to deal with over the years. -

Yeah that's a great article but it also made me kinda sad about England. A friend of mine texted me last night when Kane scored and I had no idea what he was even talking about. I assumed Spurs had just got an unlikely winner against a Champions League heavyweight or something, it never even occurred to me that England would be playing, or that anyone would care if they scored a late winner. I feel absolutely nothing for the national team anymore. More likely to root for Germany these days. -
Don't disagree on us versus Everton and Wham really, but you've outlined a reason why Spurs might sell in your first paragraph. Lose Kane and Pocchetino and they regress. If their owners know this, they might understand how thin the ice they're standing on is. Do any of us really see Spurs cementing themselves? I don't, but I could with the sort of backing we're talking about here. At the end of the day, this is Newcastle United. We're not that lucky. Everything we've achieved, we've had to work for.

Just watched the vid on that Nightfall exploit. I'm prestiging that tonight, that exploit is fantastic Pretty much 14 mins to defeat the boss. Still hard, but totally fricking possible.

It depends how profitable that would be for her and her investors, and what their overall aim is. If they want to build a strong, internationally recognised brand - they need to be duelling with City and Man Utd. We would need to be part of the top 4. If they want a reasonably short term goal of increasing the value of a club and making it a regular European challenger, maybe winning the occasional trophy, then sure, top 7. But with the money behind her, you'd think that she'd want the former. IMO, Everton and Spurs are both technically ahead of us there. Unsure about Wham, although they do at least have that ridiculous stadium.
-
Fair enough actually - in that case, is around £300m investment enough to guarantee we'll be at the same level as them? It can't be £400m because like for like, you would always go with the club that actually has the status, for the same cost, versus the one that -could- have the status.
-
Maybe but you have to factor in how much money it will take to move us from where we are, to roughly where Spurs are. That said, you would need to compare against what she would need to spend on Spurs to take them up a level too. The thing is, they're not far off being able to do that anyway. They could hit that level without significant further investment. We probably can't. So the price of our club is likely to be £400m + £250m to make us real challengers, possibly more. If the price of Spurs is £650m, then she already has a club at the level that we would aspire to be at.
-
Ok. That being the case, presumably you would castigate those who told you that it was going to be a roaring success? Equally of course, if it turns out to be all bikinis and speedboats, metaphorically or literally speaking, I suppose we should come out and admit that we were wrong too.
-
I think we're at risk of making Staveley into something she isn't here. She's a very wealthy, probably Tory voting, financier. She will have no interest in us beyond the financial. Everything else is window dressing. That's even assuming she is in fact remotely interested in us.
-
The most positive Brexit story for me is the fact that it appears to have shattered the Tories.
-
Moving away from the speculation - if it becomes clear that the situation is as shit as we think it will be, would you back a second referendum to turn it around?
-
Nice! Will give that a try, thanks.
-
And you're right about pvp. There's no stake in it. It doesn't even really matter if you win or lose IMO.
-
I know what you mean. I've not been playing this game as my sole focus which has improved it's longevity for me, but I do wonder what people are supposed to do once they hit 305. Start a new character I suppose. It's a good game but waiting 8 weeks for the next content drop is a bit of a killer.
-
Yeah i don't think the price tag will put them off, but spurs would doubtless be a better option for immediate success.

Sounds like a good evening! The garden and the final boss are the two rooms of the raid I've done. Not been online for completion of the other two bits. Garden is hard! In my case because half our team was incompetent How did you get on with the nightfall? Took us 4 attempts, although we would have managed it on the third if one of our number hasn't accidentally disconnected halfway through the boss fight.
-
Completed nightfall and am now 302. Had about 3 mins left at the end which was kinda annoying cos I still need the rat king done...
-
Is the club liable or is it the individuals? I actually don't know in truth, but if it's the former then the deals are off.
