Well, I lived there and saw it work. They'll outpace us all in the end, while we're squabbling about the social sciences.
-
Look at it man, you know as well as I fucking do that Brexit isn't actually what people wanted to lash out at. Sure, the EU may not be some great bastion of anything we should aspire to, but this is a fit of misdirected rage if ever there was one. We had a chance to harness that rage into something useful, and fucking look at what we did instead.

This isn't a new thing Parky, I've long been in favour of benevolent dictatorship. Besides, in that post you quoted I considered the general public to be far more capable and competent than the Tories You can't blame people for not understanding how things work, and relying on poisoned and toxic outlets and spin to vote on way or another. Successive governments raised us stupid and compliant, what else is there to say

At this point I don't even give a shit what the voters think. If Corbyn can get into government, he'll do a far better fucking job of this than the rabble of fucknuts we currently have in control. I base this on the fact that a collection of randoms taken from the street could probably also outperform the Tories.

A more positive take on Labour's strategy: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/dec/12/brexit-jeremy-corbyn-keir-starmer-labour Corbyn has apparently been making regular trips to Brussels in order to forge relationships with key people in the negotiations, and Labour's overall strategy is one of keeping all options on the table to get the best outcome for the most people, rather than being hamstrung by the need to deliver something that will work for the Tory right wing. The only thing I would add is my standing position of the need to remain flexible in order to capitalise on any misstep that could bring down the government.

Never go full Wolfy, CT.

I think if I was going to counter this point, CT, I would ask this: If everything you said is true, why isn't the government singing about it from the rooftops? Who is actually saying any of that stuff? Apart from you.

Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER

I want to make clear that I'm posting this mostly in incredulity - but the True Geordie has now done a podcast with Robbie Williams... I actually think there's a danger he might get somewhere with this -
I've never really said he wasn't eurosceptic tbh, the whole EU thing isn't why I wanted him as leader. I'm not saying he's the perfect iteration of what I want for the country you know, I just think he's necessary!

I have the beta - I'm freakishly lucky in it. I've played about 7 games in total (wasn't enough to swing me away from RL) and won 4 of them Good fun but needs a solid ranking system or something to make it more worthwhile.

I'm more than happy to talk about Corbyn Parky, I spent ages last week explaining what I think Labour's current strategy is for one thing. If I turn out to be wrong, I'm very comfortable saying so
-
True. I don't know what to say then, people are fucking stupid.
-
51% of people think Brexit is going badly. 21% think it's going well. At least the Tories will feel this.
-
Fucking Davis man. How is he still in a fucking job???
-
Yeah that remains to be seen though. They were clearly keen to avoid tarnishing their 'brand' last time out. They may think they'll get control of the party back if Corbyn fails this time, so they still may take a very backseat role. But yeah, would be nice to see them come out swinging.

Still think if a GE shows up on the horizon, Labour should win it. The poll that came closest to predicting the outcome of the last GE is the one that has Labour 8 points ahead as well. If they mobilise the youth vote, they'll win. Especially since they were on the defensive last time. That said, I don't think we will get a GE any time soon.

How could anyone be stupid enough to possibly thing that a country of 60million people would stand a chance against a trade bloc of 500million people, from an economic perspective. Fucking ludicrous. This for me is the unwillingness to accept being wrong. Moving goalposts are always a sign of that.

I love a good rant at the weather.

It'll be interesting to see what happens, but I was surprised that fuck all really kicked off immediately tbh.

Does America really have any friends, or just countries whose interests are at least temporarily aligned with their own? I suspect they'd treat us and the EU in exactly the same way as their enemies.

Don't know actually. Trump's "hardline" stance might be useful to the yanks going forward as long as he doesn't go too far. The following president can maintain hardline positions and only ride back on them once diplomatic victories are achieved with the countries they concern. No US president is going to walk in and suddenly make things easier for all these countries without getting anything in return. Unless there's a war.

It's weird to see someone say this outside of the e-sports community. Kuxir97 is probably the most skilled player I've seen though

Once you get to the online element the practice won't matter any more - you'll be good enough to have fun. The ranking system is fairly decent.
