What is the point in having a "UN", or the Convention against chemical weapons, if we're simply not going to pay any attention to them? I assume you support the wholesale disbanding of both institutions then? Or do their rules not apply to us, making them instead an tool by which powerful nations keep smaller ones in check? I can't get my head around why so many people think it's acceptable to just fly off the handle like this in response to such things. We are being led by the least competent leaders any of us have ever seen, and we'll criticise them left and right about everything, right up until the opportunity to go and blow up other countries is on the table, and then they have our full, unquestioning, compliant backing.

We need to start pushing critical thinking at school level to combat misinformation, but aside from that, the media needs to be held to actual standards for their reporting. Lying by omission is the biggest problem IMO. I note that the reporting on 'fake news' has turned people back to the MSM though, public trust is now back to 60%. Staggering IMO, but if people have nowhere decent to turn, I guess the least bad option becomes the only viable one. Interestingly the report says more and more people simply aren't reading news anymore. That's presumably the real consequence of all of this. As for Syria, yeah, we'll never know what the deal actually was.

The alternative was to go through the proper channels.

Ah. I'm not yet fluent in mackem abbreviations I guess.

I'm just countering conspiracy theories with conspiracy theories. I don't give a shit who did what here, I just don't want us to go to war.
-
What is that last one?

What if there was an attack and it was carried out by the rebels? Given that basically the entire Western World had publicly announced that Assad would be staying and that he had effectively "won", an attack by the Syrians using chemweps makes little sense either.

Aye I mean, we should be in a good position to pick up players from Southampton as well, as has been mentioned before - but still, I just don't like Palace.
-
I can't believe we're getting rid of both Stoke and WBA in the same fell swoop. If Palace could find a way back into the mire as well it would be a perfect season in terms of relegations.
-
Aye, technically true with Stoke having played a game more. Think we can ignore the whole thing now. The bottom 3 will stay as they are IMO.

That would be tragic

Just noticed someone pointing out that their match thread on us vs Arsenal is twice as long as the one on NO. Granted there seems to have been a high number of our lot on there (including The Fish of course) but even so that's bizarre. If that 6 in a row irrelevance had never happened, I wonder what they would be clinging on to right now.

Jonjo's Johnson jigglers v Arsene's anguished arseholes

Is it just me or is essembee trying harder to be normal now that we have something to be happy about? -
Mbemba is still here?!

Nice. Really good move for the Switch as well.

I'm encouraged that HF seems to think we will net spend £70m this summer.
-
...well that's me sold. EDIT - wait - is it done well?
-
This is my view on it as well. And I really think that's what the other teams in the league did last summer when the crazy money was flying around.

Aye, as amusing as it is to think about, we're not ready for it even if we did sneak in by some miracle If we finish 8th I'll be delighted. If we finish where we are now I'll be delighted tbf. -
The internet 'right' believes this to be a false flag. The left as well. Interesting times - the centrists are widely considered untrustworthy it seems. Anyway, I suppose it's encouraging that the situation hasn't yet unravelled.

A lot of the Arsenal fans commenting under the several Guardian articles we've had written about us seem to want him. I don't actually think he would go there though, unless Ashley does shaft him. At best with Arsenal he might win a couple of cups and I guess rejoin the 'elite' of managers in the CL... But with us, he wins one trophy and becomes an instant legend. From how he has acted since being here, I want to believe that he is more likely to value the latter.
