We played the same as we did in the 6 wins. Just that his one plan fits all situations doesn't. Second half was better once players were allowed to play. Tiote does more harm than good. He is deceptive. Slows play down, will miss easy balls. Just kills momentum. Cisse is pants aside from scoring every now and then. Even that is tempered by the utter horror show misses he partakes in on a weekly basis. Elliot is Elliot. League 1 keeper. Dummett is a shit hoof merchant with the ball. God damn, he lost the ball so many times tonight.

Cynical me reckons that story is only out as a means of unsettling people ahead of tonight. Blob is out tonight as he or his partner is giving birth. Woodman will make the bench and Alnwick will deputize. I rate Woodman higher than Alnwich, but feel the latter is more suited to the first team at this stage. Good experience for Woodman though. Streete and Satka might get time tonight. No idea about the former, but worry that Satka is too light weight.

The English defence first game has destroyed him. Needs to get himself out in the summer and into a team where he can focus on his strengths as opposed to wasting energy on areas of the game he is woeful at.

Quick thought I've had for some time about how Pardew is guilty of misusing knowledge. Knowledge: Most goals scored from corners are not scored by the player who first makes contact with the ball. Misapplication: Pardew develops a corner routine that focuses on getting knockdowns to create these secondary attempts. We scored below, an admittedly already low, average on goals from corners for 2/3 seasons and hardly ever deviate from our flawed tactic. The mistake was in creating the conditions artificially as opposed to the secondary attempts occurring naturally as an indirect result of players attacking the ball. Most of these secondary goals are scored from knockdowns, rebounds, deflections by teams who were actively attacking the corner kick and looking to score directly. By creating a strategy where our players weren't looking to score until the knockdown, the whole game changes. Opposition managers worth their salt identify this and ensure that a defence is carried out accordingly. Agree/disagree? I have a similar viewpoint about his thoughts on possession. I.e. most goals are conceded from lost transitions, therefore we focus more on defence than ball retention. Might type that up more coherently later.

Going to have to strongly disagree, cos I've never seen him have a good game at #10, compared to what he can do from the right wing.

Well of course the number 10 role wasn't going to work out. Anybody who has watched HBA play in the last 5 years knows that. Managers are thick as mince.

Myths about Cabella bubbling up now. Not good defensively according to the commentators, which is bollocks. Tackles, ball wins etc. highest in our midfield at times this season. Was a risk taking Gouffran off. The guy whose man scored the goal. The guy who gave the ball away for the goal. The guy who offered nothing in possession all game.

Gouffran's man scored that goal. Tiote and Colback well out of position opened up the space.
-
He's gaining confidence by the minute, but still not as comfortable with the ball as I've seen in those highlight reels of his time in Spain. Bloody love him.
-
Colback blazing over the bar when a simple square pass was on - utter anguish.
-
Don't even know what Gouffran was attempting with the ball on the edge of their area. Seemed to surrender

Would rather be able to win the UEFA Cup. Or Cup Winner's Cup.

No, I'm still watching a well lubed stream. You definitely have my attention now.
