1. I'd say under Robosn we were an established top 6 side. One of a handful of teams (including Liverpool) who competed for that 4th spot and at one point looked the most likely to break into the top tier. I dont know whats worse, our fall under Souness or the apathy towards his obvious ineptitude. Why did he need more than one season Gemmill? The signs were there, the team had gone backwards at an alarming rate. Why does it make sense to give him more time and allow him to spend more money when it was obvious he wasnt good enough? I dont think it was reasonable to get rid during last season, although I wouldnt have been against it. The right time was in the summer.
2. The Necroscope series of books kind of combines all three of those genres. Theres enough to keep you busy if you do end up in plaster as theres about 10 books in total. Young kid(at first) who can speak to the dead goes to war against vampires against the back drop of cold war espionage. I enjoyed them. Where are you off to?
3. true, I was just thinking thats probably down to the fact that those characters wouldn't have annoyed me so much when I was younger. Those two werent the worst and I'd say it rests on Peter a fair bit and I though the kid was awful
4. Narnia was disappointing. It is very faithful to the book and although I loved the story as a kid (despite the christian propaganda) the film just didnt work for me. I didnt think the effects were bad, infact they were very good in places. If I had to put my finger on it I think its down to the kids. The film basically rests on their performances and I dont think they were strong enough.
5. I thought it was 2 year with an option for a third

7. Only problem there is a standard player won't play them, so it's fine as long as you don't want to give copies to others. 68702 Great choice isn't it? Buy without and it'll be obselete sooner! But remember the double layer recorders are compatible (reading and recording) with the older single layers (usually both plus and minus at this point), double layer discs are still ridiculously priced anyway, but if it's an option get the double layered just to future proof it, saves you some money when your mate lends you his double layered copy in a years time. PS: Where's your Christmas avatar! 68704 Not good with christmas at the moment I was having a conversation with someone who works for Sony broadcast and they are about 6 months away from releasing a DVD based system that allows a disk to hold 800GB! No I'm not joking, it's all in the writing allegedly. So in 6 months the dual layers system will be obsolete and once again they will superseded something we spent a fortune on because it was the latest technology. 68705 Blu ray? They'll come in 50GB discs initially. I think theres a few crossed wires. I think Sony said theoretically they could make 800GB discs but I imagine that will be a long way off. Its all heading for another betamax vs vhs situation. There'll be two new types of player coming along (they're already here but expensive) Blu ray and HD DVD. HD DVD has a lower capacity of 30GB but has the advantage that it will play old DVD's and the manufacturing processes is the same. Blu ray players wont (unless they have some kind of dual drive) and as its a different tech the manuafacturing plants have to be built from scratch with no doubt all the extra cost being passed onto the customer. Toshiba is the major backer of HD-DVD and Sony Blu ray. Im hoping HD-DVD wins out just because I'm sick of Sony doing this type of shit with everything, they always have to have their own format rather than going with a standard.
8. and hyper sports was much better than track and field
9. looking around its a shame you cant use java games. Theres some great versions of old arcade games
10. because of ass.com? contra, joust, defender, spyhunter and bombjack here http://freewebarcade.com/arcade/general/bombjack/index.html
11. loads here http://games.briankass.com/ some are flash but its just links like, dont know if you can 'grab' the source
12. Yep, all flash games need to have been modified to be able to work on an IBP Arcade so that they work. They need additional frames adding to the swf file and as I don't currently have a decent flash compiler, I can't do it myself. I have a good source for games that will work though, tell me what you're after and I'll see if I can get it... 68214 Defender, Galaxians, 1942, Joust ,Commando, Mutant Storm/Robotron, Tempest, Gradius, Smash TV or Gauntlet to start with 68223 Yes please! I am the Joust king! 68239 I'll see you on the high score table Renton!!

14. off to see Belle and Sebastian at the end of Jan
15. definitely both. Milner seems to be coming on well with Villa and I dont think he would have offered less than Solano (no criticism of Solano). We could have done with Vianna as an understudy to Emre this season already. He's no less physical than him and he would certainly give us something we're lacking. All this on the assumption that we'd have a manager who would get the best out of them and the fact that they'd want to come back too.
16. Craig are there any requirements for the games so that you can incorporate them into the arcade? Max file size for example
17. been looking forward to it for a long time but I've heard its disappointing. Welcome to Dongmakgol came out around the same time (not sure if its on DVD yet though) , it stars the guy who played Mido in Old Boy. Heard good things about it. Might be worth checking out.
18. I thought it was really good. Does what it says , its incredibly claustrophobic and has more than its fair share of jumpy moments. Im one of those people who can enjoy a film for what it is though. I dont know what its down to, maybe imagination or never really growing up. The amount of times Ive heard my mates criticise something because its 'far fetched' , its a film ffs who cares! Anyway my vote for shittest (that most will have seen) is Panic room oh and Creep. That was shit
19. Again the criticism of Shepherd isnt just solely aimed at managerial appointments. Yes I was happy at the time witht the pair of them. Im a fan though not the highly paid chairman whose job it is get it right. The criticisms about shady club dealings and dividends are there already , no need to repeat them. To me he's an amateur in charge of a professional club. Maybe we need a chief exec, someone detached from NUFC to make the right long term decisions for the good of the club. I see Shepherd as dual personality tbh. Theres one side of him who is a fan who'd love to see us successful but then theres the other shadier side who seems to be doing it all to increase his own wealth. The handling of mangerial departures has been laughable, the almost knee jerk releasing of transfer kitty rather than investing at the right times, the fostering of the Shearer influence to help solidify his once shakey tenure and the lucrative contracts to so called star players again based on knee jerk reaction to 'supposed' other club interest. Does he really have the ambition to make this club as big and successful as it could be? Im not convinced.
20. If a chairmans job was to release the clubs OWN funds to the manager then yes he's done a great job but surely theres more to it than that. The buck for bad decision after bad decision has to stop somewhere Leazes. He say he ahs the clubs interest at heart but how is paying an extortionate amount of rent for property his brother owns in the clubs interest? He's the one who authorised the ridiculous contracts for Dyer. Your support of him is a strange one. On the whole I respect your views on football, you know what you're talking about for the most part but theres an element of double standards when it comes to Shepherd. Just because he's not as bad as previous chairmen does not make him a good chairman. In the same way that Souness isnt the worst manager we've had it doesnt hide the fact he's a poor manager. Under his stewardship the club hasnt moved forward one bit, in the same way you lay it (rightfully) on Souness doorstep, we've went backwards. He's a smug, odius bastard whose in this for one thing and thats to line his own pocket. Freddie Shepherd has done very very well out of Newcastle United, its a shame that stament cant be swicthed round Theres no guarantee another chairman would be better, theres no guarantee the manager will be either. It does not make them immune to criticism.
