  1. All great, especially Lighning Bolt. Stars of my "Reading music" playlist. Very unobtrusive. Couldn't hum a second of it though. I like them. But if I had to choose one girl pop outfit I'd have to plump for the Ditty Bops. A let down after the hype.
  2. What was I thinking forgetting Johnny Cash? American IV
  3. Horn Intro makes a great Message tone for your phone.
  4. Nowt wrong with albums that have charted. I listed several in my preamble. Just thought I'd do it like the Kermodes where he's not allowed to include anything that wins an Oscar in his year best. Opens it up a bit. I liked Vampire Weekend. I probably prefer those 20 myself though. Then the list is not the best 20 albums of the decade then is it. No, it's just my favourites. Which I said was made up of "most played" tracks on my ipod and subject to change. I asked for other peoples "favourites" in the hope that the combined contributions from all members might reprasent a "best" of the decade....and give me some stuff to check out. I wouldn't be as conceited to think my opinion would be in any way definitive, just thought I'd see if I could get a bit of chatter going on a slow day. Little did I realise I had to get the right answer in my opening post. I never said you did All 20 of them better than Sufjan Stevens (Illinoise)? That can push out the Atmosphere one. You don't have to highlight the wrongness of my list with every suggestion you make you know.

  6. I wish I liked SFA. I always think I should, but never really 'get' them. Love Eels though. Think I'd plump for Souljacker.

  8. "Two Thousands" just isn't snappy enough.
  9. It's flown by like, I can't believe there's stuff from 2000 that I've had for almost ten years like The Strokes (Is this it) and The Avalanches (Since I Left You)....those were new last week man! Radiohead have done their best stuff over the past decade. As much as I loved Ok Computer(1997), it's Kid A (2000) and Amnesiac (2001) that set them apart from every other band on the planet if you ask me. Hail to the Thief (2003) was as good. Though I wasn't as much a fan of In Rainbows (2007). The Arcade Fire have done a couple of great albums, as have The White Stripes. But at the risk of being labelled a pitchfork whore, I'll mostly avoifd the charts in my top 20... Neko Case - Blacklisted and Fox Confessor Brings the Flood Amon Tobin - Verbal EP and Foley Room Madvillain - Madvillainy Comets on Fire - Blue Cathedral and Avatar Buck 65 - This Right Here is Buck 65 The Mars Volta - De-Loused in the Crematorium Black Mountain - Black Mountain Jason Forrest - Shamelessly Exciting Animal Collective - Feels Wolf Parade - Apologies to Queen Mary Atmosphere - You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having The Thermals - The Body, The Blood, The Machine Joanna Newsom - Ys Hot Chip - The Warning and Made In The Dark Eluvium - Copia Battles - Mirrored The Dodos - Visiter The Decemberists - The Hazards of Love Antony and The Johnsons - I Am a Bird Now Sleater Kinney - The Woods I've made the list based on the top 10 most played tracks from each year, so no doubt I'll be chipping in with those that slipped under my radar. What have been your favourite albums?
  10. Don't want to jip the lad, but equally don't want to see any regulars jipped so tell your mate I could send this.... To these... http://www.designerprint.co.uk/canvas-prices.htm and get it done for half that.
  11. 3000, it should be the two sections nearest the away fans, cos the rest don't stand or sing. I'm in the section of the Leazes Corner furthest from the away fans and I assure you, I stand and sing every game. Admittedly there's plenty of idiots in my bit, but some of us do make an effort. You all sit, thats a fact, I'm two rows above the exit, second block from the away fans, and I look over and see a pocket near the back, the rest arms folded looking like they belong in the east stand. There's one ugly slapper with a mackem accent, black curly hair looks like Sid The Sexists ma but she's only my age, wandering round level 7 all through the game. That aint you is it? That'll be us. One of the lads I go with is the one who bangs on the roof for EVERY corner and attacking free kick.
  12. Not to mention the talent show being a British TV staple for 40 odd years. Without them we wouldn't have Marti Caine, Lenny Henry, Michael Barrymore, Dave Allen, Joe Pasquale, Roy Walker, The Chuckle Brothers, Victoria Wood, Roger De Courcey and Nookie Bear, Les Dennis, Peter Andre, Showaddywaddy, Jim Davidson, Gary Wilmot and Judy McPhee, Fivepenny Piece, Patti Boulaye or Stevie Riks.
  13. Happy Face

    Happy Birthday tbh
  14. "Maaa!" "Blanche, you whore!" "Rose you fucking Idiot!" Classic.
  15. An atomic wedgie depending on the seriousness of the situation.
  16. That's just the old number innit? Just goes to an answer machine?
  17. Perfectly summing up the 'smarter than anyone older, wiser than anyone youger' view we all have.
  18. If someone won't take the piss out of themself I'm always happy to do it. I'm a right cunt.
  19. He was even talking about them "needing a break"...it was such a blatantly stupid thing to say that if I didn't know better, I'd think he was actually showing a sense of humour. "I would like to try and do it (win promotion) in one year, if I was not up for it I would be wanking my dogs. I think my dogs needed a break." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...own/8015013.stm
  20. I don't know his exact quote - I heard he said that Hughes and Bruce weren't successful managers yet but they had potential - but I'd agree with that. If neither was to manage again after the end of this season they wouldn't go down in history as good managers. It's a good statement from Keane in a time when anyone who shows a few months of promise is immediately seen as great. Anyone know what Keane's net spend was at Sunderland in the end? 3 billion pounds
  21. He also said Owen, Martins and Viduka are pivotal to our survival as the most talented and experienced players at the club. Didn't go so far as to say all 3 would start when fit....but seemed to be leaning that way. Also said 6 or 7 points won't be enough to survive. Definitely have to get 9. And that would still be the case whether or not we'd managed a draw at Spurs, so no-one's dwelling on that result. He wasn't that blasé about it, obviously disappointed, but looking forward rather than back.
  22. You must be over the moon with that. Who wants to be in the Champions league? Well done.
  23. What else did he have to say? Nowt much that we haven't heard before. He only did 40 minutes and spent most of the time talking up how important the fans are going to be. I got the distinct feeling the scarves, flags, cards are something he's pushed for knowing we can make a difference, but we need something to get us going in the first place. He set my mind at ease about his management ability in that I had worried he'd be like Keane. I always thought Keane's main problem was commanding the respect of a premier league quality player. He's got no managerial pedigree whatsoever, but he can cut it in the lower leagues having done things as a player none of them could. Moving up to the top flight though, he's clearly got a chip on his shoulder with these players on twice as much as he ever was that he perceives to be not performing. He leaves his best players on the bench and selects effort over ability out of spite. Asked about the silly money players were on though he just brushed by the question because which player gets paid what doesn't interest him in the slightest. He was the most expensive signing because someone was daft enought to pay that money and it's got nothing to do with a saturday afternoon. I've not explained it well, but basically he's not as up his own arse as some ex-players that move into management. Ripped the piss out of Mick Lowes too. They were on the balcony and he said it was a miracle the fat fuck hadn't brought it down.
