Last nights pre-match build-up
Happy Face replied to Dr Kenneth Noisewater's topic in Newcastle Forum
Can't see the attendances dropping to 13000 like, even in the championship we should pull in 30,000. I wouldn't shed too many tears if L7 closed and all those from the corner moved a bit closer so what atmosphere is generated gets transmitted to the pitch. -

Basically, you're saying you'll sing when we're winning? Deliberately missing my point. That's not what I meant at all. Are you playing devil's advocate? Might be a bit harsh of me, but I can't see why the club deserve stick for giving away free scarves and flags. Devalues the stick they get that they do deserve. The fans that haven't sang all season long and turned the place into a library deserve stick. I only heard one chant started outside the Leazes. Can't wait for them to cancel their direct debits. -
The club provide flags and cards and flares and that though so it must be 'cringeworthy'.

Not sure if you were at the match or not, but it sticks out a mile you call Newcastle supporters who were singing 'they' rather than 'we'. The way I see it, anyone who, during a quiet moment, when it was needed most, stood forward solo and belted out the opening line of a song at the top of their voice, or anyone who kept singing and singing and singing a chant that'd died down until people joined in again just to shut them up, or just anyone wiith a sore throat this morning did us proud and I look forward to standing shoulder to shoulder with them next season, whichever league we're in. Just about everyone in the stadium will be of that ilk once Ashley cleans out the fans who only come to watch good football and we'll enjoy ourselves all the more for it, irrespective of the performance. Of course we'd all prefer to enjoy the football too, but we can't control that. -

The fans complain about the shit atmosphere and the fans complain about the pathetic attempts of the club to do something about it. But it's the fans who aren't singing. What was more embarrassing, the pre-match or being outsang by 500 Portsmouth fans and offering NOTHING whatsoever back? -
Only got hold of Neu!, Neu! 2 and Neu! '75 last year. Great stuff. Got into Neu and Can through an old goth friend from Tynemouth when i was a kid (before techno), it wasnt until a few years ago that i realised that Neu! probably invented the 'rolling' techno/house sound a la Carl Craig etc. By the way i eventually got a hold of Battles - Mirrored last night as you've been banging on about them for ages. Top stuff and elements of the motorik sound coincidentally. Champion Max Tundra - Paralax Error Beheads you I'm only up to Orphaned, but it's an incredible album. Sequenced on an Amiga apparently. This track sounds like a fantastic pop song being forwarded on a cd player.

"Here we have the Newcastle modern success corner, notice how it is practically empty with hardly anything to see at all. This is a long tradition in Newcastle and some believe it will be many many years before we are able to display anything"

You'd be in a hell of a lot better position now if you'd hung onto him. It's only the expectations of you guys (and your idiotic chairman) which stipulated he didn't get nearly enough of a fair crack. But yeah...good manager at the right place, agreed. And people would bat an eyelid if a pretty consistently top 10 team spent the next few seasons hovering around the relegation zone. At least those who don't equate size of crowds with a measure of how good a club is. We'd have already been in the Championship if we'd have hung onto him. Putting the 5 year plan a year ahead of schedule.

How can someone out of contract in a month be an 'immovable'? tit!

No music at full time? Hang the DJ.

So you're replying to his oeuvre not the OP? As long as we are clear on that, fair enough. Replying to his 'egg'?

Ashley deserves to be ass-raped with for many of his choices (and lies), but of all the things that have happened at the club, that is the very least of the issues. He could have sat naked in the stands oiling himself with melted butter, IF he'd done a few other things right. Keegan did seem to have the players respect (as well as the fans) and more than that had them playing well and with confidence (something Kinnear has never seemed to do - hence his stupidly bad win rate) Mort was seemingly a decent chairman, who at least [it seems] kept the lid on other things, Lambrusco on the other hand seems to have been a hideously bad choice and Wise well...... FCUM is just bitter that Keegan is the only one apart from Benny the Ball to take any points away from Old Trafford this season. He clearly had the players behind him.

It's what crossed my mind when reading it this morning, but I knew what Stevie meant and wasn't going to post anything....as you say, it's nitpicking. The other thought that occured to me reading the OP was that what Moyes has done at Everton has been with his hands tied behind his back. If he was given the wedge he asks for every close season, he'd be bringing in the same money hungry luxury players we have that hide during a relegation scrap. Nature of the game now. Again, I wouldn't have bothered raising such a small contention because it's obvious what he means, the passion is clear in the original post and the despair genuine. Personally I'm enjoying going to the football more than I have in a while. Another of the lads was saying before last nights game that he hadn't been as excited about a game since the Cardiff semi. It's just a shame the nervous excitement seems to result in silence from 90% of the stadium rather than blowing the roof off. I'm even looking forward to a trouncing off Liverpool with the hopeless optimism that Man U's 22 minutes has broken their spirit and they're there for the taking.

The rest is true, Newcastle United is a negative club and has been for a long time. It must be one of the worst places to go as a player. "Yes" then. You missed his point anyway. His point in the paragraph I highlighted is that Newcastle should be "away" from clubs like Villa and Everton (5th and 6th placed teams) based on Newcastles turnover and "potential" whatever that may be and that Newcastle should learn from their mistakes. I think relegation will make the board learn alot from their mistakes. His point was correct though. I too thought it was a strange point to make while extolling humility tbf.

Wasn't particulary fussed on what I've heard in the past, but there's a track off their new album on this weeks All Songs Considered that I really enjoyed.... http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.p...oryId=103528419

Wiggle Wiggle Not the Outhere Brothers, Bob Dylan... Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup, Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop, Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead, Wiggle - you can raise the dead. He's a lyrical genius Under The Red Sky is a terrible nursery rhyme filled album that drove Dylan to a 17 year writing hiatus...but I still like it. Cats in the Well is a fun song too.

Prefer the Soft Bulletin, but that was '99.
