Alan Shearer to discuss four-year deal at Newcastle
Happy Face replied to Scottish Mag's topic in Newcastle Forum
Like he did with Keegan and Given? Shit -
I've seen sadness on the board about relegation, as well and positiveness about next season, I've seen blame laying at the doors of many people but not that much anger or anyone asking where we go from here off the pitch. We all towed the line. As we were asked, we kept scthum when it came to being negative and gave them our full support. An average of 48000 is the highest any relegated has ever had. As the team gave a lamentable final 45 minutes of the season the only thing we could be proud of was the 5000+ who'd travelled to be spat at in the face by those players. After the shite we've been served up and the ineptitude displayed at every level of the club are we still going to give them our full backing? They'll say that backing is needed now more than ever to ensure a speedy return to the top-flight, but do we give a toss what they say any more? At what point do we say 'no more'? Are those who damned the NUSC for their initial evisceration of Ashley's policy now on board for an all out campaign to pressure those in charge into doing things right or getting out? Or do we accept the inevitable big player sales and cheap replacements as the result of relegation rather than the trend that caused it in the first place? Now that Ashley's policy is the right one (for a champiionship club) are you happy for him to continue with it?

Allardyce close to breaking point at Newcastle
Happy Face replied to Jimbo's topic in Newcastle Forum
All those twat's claiming Allardyce was the man for us should remember it all goes back to him. Forgotten I'd compared him to Kinnear before he came too. I couldn't have dreamed Denis Wise was reading. -
Not sure you'd get 100% agreement on Shearer's whiter than white record. Lot's of Newcastle supporters see him as a bit of a mercenary twat who had a few detrimental effects.

It helps to have a manager you don't have to sack after they've blown your wad on their shite players. We've ripped it up and started again half a dozen times since the stability of SBR Of course by default that is a case for a DOF. More the case for a chairman with a clue imo.

So Ashley had an unenviable job given the wage bill he inherited.....but only two of the six players worth their wages was signed on Ashleys watch. 100% of those hardest to shift were signed by him and 9/13 of the other most egregious examples were his fault. Aye, all Shepherd's fault like.

We've been overpaying for a decade nowt to do with Ashley. It is a bigger problem than just the failings of one particular regime. Oh I agree I'm just saying that the new regime has hardly addressed the problem. We've sold players in January presumably to fund the wage bill but as it turned out they were players we couldn't spare. They've brought in players like Barton, Cacapa, Nolan, Xisco, and R. Taylor presumably on high wages, players who like their predecessors aren't good enough. I think they were gambling on getting through to the summer in the premiership when they could start making serious in-roads in the wage bill by kissing off the likes of Owen and Viduka. Even if we'd stayed up I was expecting some surgery on the squad. Now it will presumably involve full scale amputation. Yes, yes yes... But there seems to be no easy ans to the greater problem ie How to get/attract good upcoming players and keep them without paying mad money. The answer is you pay them mad money. Then you have no room for maneuver when things go awry (inj/form etc) and get relegated. Small time thinking. Weren't you advocating a £150M spend as the only answer at the start of the season? Which you poo pooed. Because it was patently ridiculous. I never said we should aim to make a profit in the transfer window(s) either though. There was a common sense middle ground to be sought.

Viduka, Owen and that are free agents now though....right? Just checked, contracts are up in June.

Boro were in Uefa cup final 3 years back. We've not managed that in 40 years. Why don't they get these articles? [Rhetorical]

If you're a man you can cry publicly when your dog dies or when you lose the rest of your platoon in a war. Any other time and you're a bitch lacking in even the most basic of self-respect.
