Are we destined for yet another pathetic season?
Happy Face replied to Asprilla's topic in Newcastle Forum
George Orwell predicted it all. Phoney wars, turmoil and victory (brown) ale keep the proletariat subdued while Big Ashley sells more players and buys none. -
I do relate to Nick Hornby. In 31 songs he wrote about Bob Dylan. How he doesn't consider himself a fan. Not even close, by the standards of the nuts who collect bootlegs and that. But he owns more Dylan music than any other artist, including those he has far more personal affection for. Because Dylan has produced more 'important' music than any other artist. You have to get hold of anything that anyone deems 'important'. You can dismiss it or not once you have it, but to have not heard it and have informed your opinion is inconceivible. So as much as I deride Pink Floyd earlier in the thread....I still keep ALL their albums, and not just the good one, for that moment when someone claims Shine on You Crazy Diamond is a work of genius and I can disagree, and if I have any doubt, remind myself it's a turgid slog like watching another man masturbate.

I have an 8 gig iPod Nano Although I kind of like having to select what I actually have with me. Means I have to take an actual interest in what I listen to. It generally comes down to the "Recently added" playlist like... but still Surely an 8Gig Nano can't even hold just the official studio releases of the core rock/pop gods (The Beatles/Led Zeppelin/Bob Dylan/Jimi Hendrix/The Rolling Stones/James Brown/Power Station) that form the backbone of ANY collection before you think about branching out to other genre, lesser artists, rareties and unofficial releases.

What about the ones who spend 3 hours of their working day on internet forums? TOSSERS!!!! -
I should delete a lot of the 'try before you buy' stuff that's not grabbed me....like Burial...but it's happened more than once that something I (dis)missed originally comes on shuffle months later and i love it. I'm running out of space...but with memory so cheap I can't see myself cleaning that sort of stuff out.

I'm not at home, but I think I have about 120Gig. It's a right bastard only having an 80Gig ipod and having to leave a third of my stuff off.

I saw a lad on the metro the other day who I haven't seen for years. He used to finish every sentence? Like he was asking a question? By going a bit higher? at the end of every sentence? And starting a new paragraph? More often than a BBC.co.uk/News story? Used to wind me up no end back in the day when I was a placid happy go lucky teenager. Now I'm pushing 30 and a grumpy bastard it was like having one of my kids grow up mackem. He got on at Monument and before we even got to central I wanted to drag him off the metro and throw him on the tracks. -

7000 hours? I think that's the length of the opening track on Pulse. -
Just 5 starified it on the old pod.

Well you keep telling us you're thin... No I don't. I keep telling you I'm not fat. There's a difference, ninja! I've got about 40Gig and that's nigh on 7hours, there's no way this fella has 500 gig. The only reason he gave that figure was because we were discussing our collections (oh aye, that cool) and he just had to outdo us. t-w-a-t My Pink Floyd collection is over 40 gig. Viz style top tip - Free 39.9Gig of hard disc space by deleting all Pink Floyd except Dark Side of the Moon. -

That's some high quality shit. Calm down dad. Just because The Grizzly Bears don't exist, doesn't mean you have to hate the music lovers out there. -
Given Zoomba five or six listens today. love it.

love how they've had 3 managers in 12 months and yet, no paper bangs on about it like they do about us! To be fair, we have had 5...potentially 6.

Yep...Ashley out! http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?...st&p=341214 Tino called it first.

Ryder thought he had secured every exclusive for 5 years with his arse-licking over the past season.....and now Mike's going to walk away and leave him in the lurch. Gutted.

Andriy Shevchenko £30.8m Juan Sebastian Veron £28.1m (then £15m) Adrian Mutu £15.8m Steve Marlet £11.5m Sergei Rebrov £11.5m Chris Sutton £10m Albert Luque £9.5m Hugo Viana £8.5m Jean-Alain Boumsong £8m At least Owen kept us up the season before last with 8 goals in 11 games. He might have been a let down over 4 years, but some credit is due.

We paid over the odds, but no way was it anything like the worst signing in the history of the premier league.
-
Michael Owen will score goals if he's fit and you make chances for him. That was an especially big 'if' at Newcastle. so assuming hes not injured, and someone else does all the work for him, he'll score not what I'd ask for in a world class striker, he was alright when he had pace but he can't even escape most defenders in a straight run anymore I don't think anyone's claiming he's shown world class form in the last 4 years. That's why he's no longer an international and none of the top 4 want him. If you show me a pundit that's said otherwise, I'll agree with you. A lot of people would say he can do a job in the Premier league given service and has more quality than Emile heskey who's got his place in the England squad.

Ok, Barcelona are one of the biggest clubs in the world, with worldwise support, a glittering hsitory who can attract the world's top players with their reputation. We're not. Ownership structure is some way down the list of differences here. Do all of their supporters agree on everything? majority vote isn't it? I think there's a small random selection of fans on the board and they also elect a president with a bit of nouse to do most of the work.

What's that advert for a shoe shop with her from the boddingtons ad? I wouldn't mind seeing how cheap they are, because the advert looked cheaper than Mike Ashleys tighter mate.
