I liked seeing the effect Gerrard had compared to Ronaldo...so here's how the Newcastle squad fare.... Player------Played-Won-With-Wins-Without Wins Milner------2------1---50%-------17% Xisco-------5------2---40%-------15% Beye--------23-----6---26%-------7% Viduka------12-----3---25%-------15% Ameobi------21-----5---24%-------12% Given-------22-----5---23%-------13% Barton------9------2---22%-------17% Guthrie-----24-----5---21%-------14% Martins-----24-----5---21%-------14% Duff--------30-----6---20%-------13% Gutierrez---30-----6---20%-------13% Enrique-----26-----5---19%-------17% Nolan-------11-----2---18%-------19% Butt--------33-----6---18%-------20% Owen--------28-----5---18%-------20% Coloccini---34-----6---18%-------25% Lovenkrands-12-----2---17%-------19% Cacapa------6------1---17%-------19% Nzogbia-----18-----3---17%-------20% S-Taylor----27-----4---15%-------27% Carroll-----14-----2---14%-------21% Geremi------15-----2---13%-------22% Harper------16-----2---13%-------23% Bassong-----30-----4---13%-------38% R-Taylor----10-----1---10%-------21% Gonzales----2------0---0%-------19% LuaLua------3------0---0%-------20% Smith-------6------0---0%-------22% Edgar-------11-----0---0%-------26% So there you have it, our first choice starting 11 should have been Given Beye Enrique Barton Guthrie Milner Duff Gutierrez Viduka Ameobi Martins Xisco on the bench

Wasn't there some stat a while ago about how Liverpool won a higher percentage of games without Gerrard? Without Gerrard Won 43% With Gerrard Won 71% Without Geremi Won 23% With Geremi Won 13% Can't believe I just compared (or even contrasted) gGeremi with Ronaldo and Gerrard. At a point in the season both were the case (maybe Geremi was last year, not sure) More raw data = increased accuracy of results

I wish I could phtoshop thoughts onto a gif. You can see his mind race. The shame at the end is the best bit.

It's the transfer of one player, I think you're exaggerating things a bit. Who was injured half the season Man U still won at a canter. Wrong answer. He played in 33 of their 38 games, but wasn't properly fit till mid October, at which time Man Utd were well off the pace 9 points at one point, and i REMEMBER THEY WERE 3/1 to win the league. Why did you say he was injured for half the season? His remergence got them back on track, and was the key reason why this happened. It is monumental, and it's a fair thing to say it's diminished them at least 30% regardless who comes in. I wouldn't be surprised if they come third next season. Draws against us and Chelsea and a defeat to Liverpool in the league wasn't it while he was out? Hardly a disaster. He wasn't fully fit till October/November, do you understand the concept of being injured for 3 months? Him not starting the season was the reason they were 9 points off the pace. You will see next season. 20-30 league goals a season have been taken out of the club in one swoop. It's the biggest hammerblow any club could have in English football, Liverpool would miss Gerrard, Chelsea would miss Terry, Arsenal would miss Fabregas, but none of them would be as big a miss to the style of play, results, or the club as Ronaldo is to Man Utd. I'm not sure about the 9 points claim but I know they had at least one game in hand due to the Super Cup game. they dropped 7 points in his absence, 5 of which were against Chelsea and Liverpool, games in which he'd likely have done fuck all anyway. I'm not saying he won't be a big miss for them but I'd still have them down as favourites for the title next season. They won 60% of the games he missed They won 75% of the games he played.

I'm sure Fergie still didn't want to sell like...but it was probably the agreement last year. "Och, give us one moore season laddie, and by jings yae can go wi mae blessing"

Maybe he's taken 20k a week. I was wondering to myself what it would do for team spirit if the new manager made a rule that he and every player in the squad would get the same base pay....say £15k a week...and all other pay was made up of bonus payments.....but everyone is on the same bonus structure (per goal, clean sheet, win, draw appearance) all clearly stated. Never happen like, but it's more workable in the championship than the premier league. Andt if anything, it would be nice to stop the fans attacking players for what they earn, rather than how they perform.

They are literally breaking the news. As in reporting fuck all. Quickly becoming the Tribal Football of TV journalism.
-
Ronaldo better than Zidane?
-
So the record transfer fee has leaped over 75% in one week? When it's never really jumped by more than about 50% a time post-war.

They'll have to rename themselves the Unprofitable Group if they buy us Whenever I hear the name I'm reminded of the Super Terrific Happy Hour. and to a lesser extent Compu-Global-Hyper-Mega-Net.
-
And if his backers don't have the money to spend? We know fuck all about the Profitable Group's resources and intentions. We know fuck all about any potential bidders' resources and intentions. To say that you'd prefer Shepherd's bid to another is based on fuck all. Abso-bloody-exactly! Has nobody learned anything from the jubilation when Ashley took over. I've learned to be as dubious and about ANY buyer as I'd be about my daughters new boyfriend. He could be nice as pie, he's still going to get the stink-eye from me until he's put a ring on her finger. Between these two I'd rather have SS. The ex-husband who slapped her about, but at least you could talk football with him. I see where you're coming from.
-
They were just messing at the start of the week. They sound like a perfect replacement at the St James' circus.
-
..and we hated him....right?

What if the profitable group want to employ Shepherd to run the gaff?

Don't we have very few players between 25 and 30 (ie, in their prime)? Virtually the whole squad is wet behind the ears or over the hill. The ones we do have are generally crocks and criminals too.

What did Man U pay for him? Edit: £12.2m Good business that like.
