  1. Martins has produced diminishing returns year on year. First season he played 46 and scored 17 which made him popular. His popularity hasn't waned in the last 2 years despite dropping to 33, then 25 games in each respectively (So Owen's played 62 to Martins' 58). First Impressions last I guess...and Owen's was that of a crock.
  2. Amazing that Newcastle fans perpetuate the uninformed myths of the gutter press. By all means slag him off for showing no heart, not doing an interview after being relegated, or playing for England when fit and selected.... ....but is it fair to slag him off on fitness or goalscoring when only Butt and Taylor have made more appearances in the last 2 years and he's been our top scorer both those seasons?
  3. I'm sure all would have been forgiven if only he'd said he was "gutted". Get a grip man. Any time any player opens his mouth I invariably want to take a fork to his eye. As our top scorer he's got far less to be ashamed of than many others at the club. What use would a "sorry" be from Owen? The man primarily responsible for our relegation apologised and he's still a cunt. Fuck off tbh. something would have been better than nothing. would have been something to give him stick for.
  4. What's another week after 6 years?
  5. Quite. That's different to what you were saying though I think, which to me seemed to be that no space program is worth any cost because nothing of value comes from it. The US Military budget is $540bn+ America recently slashed by 16 percent the space agency's $4 billion request for manned space exploration in 2010 (Total NASA budget is $18Bn).

  7. http://www.thespaceplace.com/nasa/spinoffs.html BREAST CANCER DETECTION - A solar cell sensor is positioned directly beneath x-ray film, and determines exactly when film has received sufficient radiation and has been exposed to optimum density. Associated electronic equipment then sends a signal to cut off the x-ray source. Reduction of mammography x-ray exposure reduces radiation hazard and doubles the number of patient exams per machine. PROGRAMMABLE PACEMAKER - Incorporating multiple NASA technologies, the system consists of the implant and a physician's computer console containing the programming and a data printer. Communicates through wireless telemetry signals. SOLAR ENERGY - NASA-pioneered photovoltaic power system for spacecraft applications was applied to programs to expand terrestrial applications as a viable alternative energy source in areas where no conventional power source exists. SENSORS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL - NASA development of an instrument for use in space life support research led to commercial development of a system to monitor an industrial process stream to assure that the effluent water's pH level is in compliance with environmental regulations. etc. Who knows, the energy source that get's man back from Mars might replace fossil fuel and save the planet. It would be cheaper to make energy from burning gold. In the short term....that's why government should fund it. IMPROVED AIRCRAFT ENGINE - Multiple NASA developed technological advancements resulted in a cleaner, quieter, more economical commercial aircraft engine known as the high bypass turbofan, featuring a 10-percent reduction in fuel consumption, lower noise levels, and emission reductions of oxides of nitrogen, carbon monoxide, and unburned hydrocarbons.

  9. We'll be lucky to be back there this century. Looked great but what a waste of money going back (or indeed trying to get to Mars) would be. They're just lifeless rocks. It's not like the money couldn't be better spent. Just my two Earth cents. I like the space programs. Basically government funded research into products that have applications on earth, that private industry doesn't have the vision or inclination to look into. Like what? http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&r...+uses&meta= The best link being... http://www.thespaceplace.com/nasa/spinoffs.html BREAST CANCER DETECTION - A solar cell sensor is positioned directly beneath x-ray film, and determines exactly when film has received sufficient radiation and has been exposed to optimum density. 11. Fergie is a manager what does he know? It will be quite interesting to see though......... what is actually left of Owen as a footballer, is he as rubbish as some think, or with a good team around him (as opposed to our ) is there still a quality (if ageing) player in there. Can't polish a turd though (as he proved with Bosnich and Blanc). Think this could well end up in the same situation. Scousers are loving this mind - they all hate Owen as they see he as a mercenary bastard. They're all hoping he goes there and falls on his arse big time. You are aren't you.
  12. Forget saint. The man is a god! We're not worthy.
  13. Aye - there was a couple of Manc fans ringing into Talksport this morning claiming that he's an awesome player who's been made to look shit by NUFC Ohhhh they've a lot to learn. Sadly though they haven't done what we did and stick him on a huge retainer on the basis of his past abilities You just know the same people would've been saying he was shit/fucked/finished 48 hours ago if you'd asked them. I think he's a better player than he's looked in the last 6 months (then again, I'm a better player than he's looked in the last 6 months) but he's still a shadow of his former self. I think if this is true he'll be a useful squad player more than anything else. Aye but being a 'useful squad player' will not get him a place in Capello's 22. He'd have been better off going to Everton IMO if he's primary objective is to play in the World Cup. Who's he behind now that Tevez and Ronaldo have gone? Berbatov, Rooney....that 11 year old who likes scoring in injury time.
  14. I'll take that bet. I'll give you 10-1 in fact ....I would if Capello wasn't in charge. He hasn't got Fergie's vision. Should've gone to specsavers. Can't see him getting in the squad even. The two reasons being I think Rooney, Gerrard and even Crouch are ahead in that withdrawn striker's role (Owen's best/'only' position these days) and international centre-backs would put him in their back pocket with ease if he played further up the pitch). I think Capello's right tbh. Aye. And it seems to be the consensus. I personally still think he has a lot to offer though. I couldn't even see Anelka scoring many more for Newcastle last season. Owen started the season with five goals in seven games (after a similar finish the season before), but the situation at the club just got worse and worse. ...I just realised that doesn't actually answer the international quality question...and you're probably right about his place in the pecking order, but he's certainly a better option than Defoe imo, who's never looked like he's going to be able to produce for the national team.
  15. I hate myself for it but I got a reet stott on dreaming this is true. What the fuck will it take for me to learn?

  18. 2x tickets for the Dodos in Manchester. 7x tickets for Darlington in Darlington.
  19. I might get a tenner on my earlier tongue in cheek prediction of World Cup 2010 top scorer.
  20. People at work keep telling me to listen to Florence and the Machine so I popped on here to see the consensus among people I don't despise. Nice suprise to see I've already dismissed them and don't have to indulge this particular recommendation. Grizzly Bear - Two Weeks It's the soundtrack to the summer.
