Police 'earn up to double pay with overtime'
Happy Face replied to Happy Face's topic in General Chat
If I ever said i was for it you'll be able to refer us all to that post, won't you? So you think the beating of innocent women is fine then? You think overtime only has a negative impact when you do so much that it doubles your pay? Anything up to that point and your a finely honed machine at the peak of your ability? Keep going Fop, you'll find something if you keep probing. So are you saying ALL police over time should be banned? No. Are you this stupid in real life? -
They'd prefer it didn't transfer to the home. It's basically an anti-piracy measure. Fish wouldn't dream of downloading Avatar because the 2D version isn't the film. The director says you have to see it 3D to see it properly....and rather than being £6.50....you have to pay £9.50....but you can't keep the glasses or anything and pay £6.50 next time....you have to pay more because they need new projectors and that....not because they'll be showing 3D films for years....but because they'll be showing digital films for years....but digital is lower quality than film.....so they can't exactly charge more for a poorer picture....but it saves the studios money when they make the film and add effects....so we're getting it whether we like it or not....and funding it.

not really a freedom issue, more along the lies of politicians pay. So are for or against overtime, Chris? I hadn't realised there was an overriding theme to your anti-police threads. Fop the freedom fighter. I'm against the abuse of overtime. So you are saying this is an "anti-police" thread are you Chris? Taking the Fifth? Sorry, I thought that was rhetorical. It's hardly casting them in a good light is it? So what terrible thing did the police do to you to make you start posting "anti-police" threads then? Rape? Beating? Murdered your mother in front of you and then laughed and said "prove it!"? One swallow doesn't make a spring. Are you saying the police have done nothing to you.... yet you still make "anti-police" threads? I'm just wondering where the plural use comes from. Same place as trousers, probably. So what is your beef with the police if they've done nothing to you personally? They're ineffectively managing how they use my tax money. I've coloured it red where I said so before. Shall we do another lap on the merry-go-round? So its..... pay jealousy then? No. I worry about their health, behaviour and performance. http://www.humanics-es.com/overwork-workshifts-niosh.pdf Perhaps if they hadn't worked an 80 hour week they wouldn't crack and beat up women making a nuisance of themselves. -

Neither am I....and you agree the trailer is shit. So what are we arguing about?

I can't embed .png images, so you'll get a far better read if you follow the link below, but... http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/ You begin to understand how Germans were able to overlook the atrocities carried out in their name in the past when we sit idly by and let those we elected to do this stuff off the hook. -
Film/moving picture show you most recently watched

Watched it last night. I agree. -
So that means if I watch the film in 2D at home...then I can't have a relevant opinion on it? bizarre. Because I believe cinema, in theory, is a completely universal medium - it's for everyone - not just the West / economically elite. It's utterly selfish, snobbish and a ridiculous waste of insane money (I read 300 million dollars) to make a film purely for those limited theatres that can financially and technologically support 3D cinema. And you call it 'progress' but what kind of 'progress' limits a work of an art form (I hesitate to call Avatar a work of art) to a score of countries? I'm basically saying that I have no idea why people even bother making 3D films when there are hardly any good 2D ones around. you can't judge a 3D FILM by watching a 2D TRAILER, don't know how I can make that more clear? Cinema evolves, not all cinemas could cope with talkies, but they soon did, not all cinemas could cope with colour, but they evolved, silent to sound, black and white to colour, from film to digital cinema's entire history is evolution. Hell it's very inception was a technological departure from it's parent. I'll wager there were theatre goers screaming, what's the point in this new moving picture nonsense, when I can see (and hear) real actors on stage! You make a 3D movie to prove that you can, to open it up to other people to make 3D movies because someone will make a start. I agree that the quality movies are hidden under the avalanche of Dance Flick and it's brethren, but they;'re out there. Your argument seems to be "Give up now and don't bother trying.", which is derisible. 3D has been going for over a hundred years now... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3-D_film There are literally hundreds of 3D films (39 since 2000)... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_3-D_films ...and every time there's a resurgence, they find it adds nothing but headaches and ill-fitting glasses. ...and every one of those films trailers could be judged without seeing them in 3D. So they should not bother trying anymore? They can keep trying if they want. As I said above, I look forward to the day someone makes a 3D film worthy of the glasses and the extra entry fee. I hope this is it. But it's not the experimental brave new world you suggest, it's re-introduced cyclicly every few decades and has failed each time. More exciting than the 3D is the digital aspect....soon we'll all have cinema quality digital cameras in our phones.

It will have done. Then along came the wages. The wages the season before last were £1.34m per week. Given the players sold (the above plus Owen and Viduka and Given and Zoggy and Milner) and staff sacked at the end of the season, I think you can safely take that down to 800k these days. Saving £26m a season. With a £20m parachute payment, £24m from player sales, £880k a fornight from gate receipts (not to mention food and drink), 2 new strips etc. there's no reason whatsoever the current wage bill should be proving a stumbling block. It's very viable as it stands. -
Fop suspect you think they should take the kid gloves off and just nuke them? and don't stop there @ Leazes' complete lack of irony.

chris evens isn't bad on the drive time (also 27 and listens to radio2 when his ipod isn't working) I'd rather hoy 5live or radio 4 on. 6music has the best playlist, but even then, you get one in 5 tracks you actually like. Isn't 6Music only on Digital radio? It's all immaterial anyway, as I'm the new boy I don't get to choose the radio station. It's a travesty if you ask me. Aye.....a dab radio makes a fine gift.

Do Radio 2 normally play good music like? http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/music/playlist/index.shtml Cliff Richards, Michael Boltons and David Grays ffs.

Exactly. A decent owner with brains wouldn't have got us relegated, we'd still have had KK (or a decent boss of their choice) there, instead of being in complete turmoil and would be looking good, not saying we'd be world beaters, but they wouldn't have to have spent more money than ashley, just not been a complete fuckwitt. I've no idea what Moat's plans and finaces are if he should takeover, but you have to believe he will be better than ashley and as Matt said if you get the fans back, you get more money in, not the billions we'd all love, but it still helps. Not sure Moat has the funds to buy the club outright (unless he borrows it). I have a feeling he will be a major investor, taking a share in the club. The way things are going with a little intelligence and tinkering we can get out of this league first time. Looking forward to a bit of solidarity. Looks like if he has any intelligence, it's a little. -

Exactly the kind of "just a heads-up, this is where we are" statement they've not issued for 3 months because of the supposed non-disclosure agreement. Difference being, releasing it now, when they should be drawing a line in the sand, excuses lack of first team investment. Scum. -
Re: the bit in bold, surely it's the same reason any trailer is put out, to raise awarness of the film? I suppose I just think people are all to quick to barrack something that's a little bit new. I don't think Cameron'll have got it perfect. I do think it'll open the doors to other film-studios to unleash their creative promise onto this new type of film. I'm not expecting this film to be much other than an experiment with new technology. So I won't dismiss the film on the back of the trailer, simply because I'm not expecting great performances or insightful storyline, certainly not from Cameron. I won't judge the look of the film on the back of the trailer either. meh, I'm going to see it, to see how they've improved the 3D stuff, if anything else entertains me, it' a bonus. I started the thread because I expect so much more of Cameron. I'm a huge fan. Terminator and Terminator 2 were fantastic, not just because of the effects but because of the story they told, which didn't pander to studio demographics with war for the lads and romance for the lasses. 3D has been in the experimental stage for years and still hasn't been used to improve a story in any way. Cameron is the one that took CGI and showed what was possible. Used sparingly on T2 it was breathtaking. It convinced Spielberg he could make Jurassic park, and Kubrick that AI could work (if he had lived). I don't believe 3D will ever make that much of an impact, but if it could, I had hoped Cameron would be the one to show us....it was disappointing to see the kind of film he thinks will win people over.

I'm not doing a Parky and bashing the whole film on the evidence of a trailer. You've taken what I've said as a categorical statement that the film is shit. I'm saying it's the most eagerly anticipated trailer of the decade....and it's underwhelming (the trailer, not the film). If a trailer is not put out there for the public to make a judgement, then what purpose does it serve? You said it yourself...it looks clunky. It's the most expensive film of all time and it's clunky. It's supposed to be live action...and it looks like a cartoon. Rather than say it looks great and arguing in favour, you seem to be agreeing it looks shit, but hoping the specs and more work will make it better...hardly a ringing endorsement, but a sentiment i agree with entirely. When the time comes, 3D is not the only factor that the film will be judged on. We can make a judgement on the story, the script, the acting, the editing, the effects, the cinematography, the set design, the character design, the costumes, the direction, the originality.... We get a good taste of many of those things from the trailer, and it didn't look good to me....the 3D is the the one thing that categorically can't be judged yet and i wouldn't slag it off on that score at all. 3D is just an anti-piracy move by the studios though.
