  1. After 10 years in charge, Ashley still only has 3 of the top ten net spends in a season at NUFC Ashley 2016 79.5 Ashley 2015 18.8 Ashley 2013 13.3 Hall/Shepherd 2003 24.35 Hall/Shepherd 2002 20.35 Hall/Shepherd 1996 18.725 Hall/Shepherd 2006 18.1 Hall/Shepherd 1997 13.125 Hall/Shepherd 1999 11.85 Hall/Shepherd 2007 11.34
  2. Aye, summer holidays are over. Back into the stats gym.
  3. The Hayden purchase pushed this window into the 3rd biggest spending (outgoings only) of Ashley's tenure - £29.5m Top 6 from 19 Summer 2015 - £48m Summer 2014 - £37.4m Summer 2016 - £29.5m January 2016 - £29m Summer 2007 - £24.9m Summer 2008 - £23m
  4. This weeks Imagine is about the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony. If you thought it was an excellent ceremony, you'll appreciate it all the more. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07l24qp
  5. Any reported fees for this lad anywhere?
  6. I guess the £30-£40 billion quoted is the upfront cost and that the £150 billion figure someone mentioned is the long term cost of maintaining. If it needs to be funded then it should come from cuts to the defence budget. But after a spate of attacks France are getting hammered for their defence cuts which have been the biggest globally over recent years. Would the UK public be happier with an increased risk that we couldn't intervene to take out that next attacker, if it meant the NHS kept £40bn over the next few years? Obviously they'll just borrow, call it deficit and make more of the same cuts we've seen the past 6 years to cover it though.
  7. Pretend we funded ten tridents with the imaginary £350m. Covers off the doomsday scenario and the pesky shits asking if it'll go to the NHS.
  8. While I'm being inflammatory, the Lion King was on Channel 5 over the weekend. That's shite too. Can't stand Rowan Atkinson's performance in particular.
  9. Exactly. If I'm watching a kids sci-fi film, I'll watch one with fighting spaceships. Not one where a robot ponders his reality by looking at an oragami horse.
  10. If the existing trident lasted 40 years, then even at £150B, it's less than £4B a year though, right? Can't find a more recent one, but for context... Should't one tenth of the annual military budget go on a nuclear detterent? Half of one percent of the total budget? I'm a lefty liberal Corbynista, but if that £4bn was left in the £222bn social care bill, or even the £140Bn Heathcare bill, would it be make a massive difference to those services following the cuts they've already experienced? Also need to ask how much of the £150B goes back into the economy? How many jobs does it create to lessen the social care burden? Hope we aren't paying some other countries to knock it up for us.
  11. When I said "it's frowned upon" that meant people don't need to keep telling me I'm wrong I realise the status of these films in popular culture, and that objectively speaking, if a barometer of a films quality is it's endearing popularity, then I am completely wrong and it's a failing of mine that I don't have the intellect or heart to see what it is that appeals to so many others. Not gonna lie and say I got more out of them than I did though. Bored, bored bored.
  12. Shite. EDIT: Like everything Ridley Scott did between Alien and The Martian.
  13. I bought the dvd and it wouldn't work in my player so I gave it to a mate. I think I probably have seen at least 90% of it. I don't remember sitting down to watch it from start to finish, but I think I've seen most of it across multiple Channel 4 Sunday night screenings. Americans go to the jungle. Kill, Rape & pillage. Hurts them more than their victims. Right?
  14. I've started it a couple of times. Didn't like it and unable to finish. Never like Brazil either. Actually, think the only Gilliam films I've liked at all were the Python ones. Don't care for Bladerunner either. A trilogy of dystopian future films it's frowned upon to say bored me.
  15. Had a download of it on my PC for ages. Will hop to it asap

  17. 6 years older than you and seen 97 of them. Yet to watch... 32. Interstellar (2014) 37. The Intouchables (2011) 72. Witness for the Prosecution (1957)
  18. http://fifthelementonline.com/products/dem-atlas-mf-dem MF DEM Free download Dem Atlas rapping over classic MF Doom beats.
  19. Nic Winding Refn (NWR) directed it. He's brilliiant. First films were the Pusher trilogy everyone on here loved. It's equally as important to be the first to spot a talent and to declare them as a spent force, so Parky's getting in there quick with the latter
  20. Just a bit of statistics humor there Sorry. When asked if they were "nasty" i'm not sure the responders interpreted the question the same for Corby and May.
  21. I'd ask about the parents who let their kids on Twitter before having a pop at Lineker.
