http://www.chomsky.info/articles/200909--.htm Apologies for the length, but I thought it was a pretty brilliant article.

My first thought too. Wondered where they came from...considering the effect that Jamie Oliver and Morgan Spurlock have had on eating habits.

My mate runs every year for the dog shelter. When he got home from doing the run this year, he found the dog he'd got from the shelter 4 years ago had had a heart attack and died.

It doesn't matter.

Why hasn't Stevie asked for a ban yet either? I was sure his liberal sensibilities would have been outraged by such a disgraceful racial slur being used as a thread topic.

At least it's (relatively) brief. Wasn't the Coldplay one 30 odd pages in the end?
-
You maintain that he did but have been unable to find a single website backing your theory up. Keep googling, you need to find one, for the sake of your credibility! Ironic really, considering that you talk about my creditibility earlier in the thread and then pull this off The Source igorance was more credibility busting when you weigh them up like.

This argument is known on Toontastic as "The Coldplay Defence". Can't remember the name of the bloke who pioneered it, he flounced off soon after.

Is it a valid criticism to highlight where Jay-Z incorporates other peoples rhymes in a genre built entirely on sampling other peoples beats?

I think he makers a better writer than stand-up. He filled in for Frank Skinner on the radio for 3 weeks a few months back and he was utter shite.
-
Thing is with Peter Kay is that he's only got one stand-up act as far as I can tell. Seen him live and a few different performances on the telly and it was almost word-for-word at times. I think That Peter Kay Thing and Phoenix Nights were brilliant though (as was his stand-up the first few times you saw it). Max and Paddy though.... "Have you done a pump?"

I like the statistical analysis Gorman used to do on his comedy. "what's that done to the graph?" I realise that's about as funny as GCSE geography for 99% of people like.

Perhaps, but then you're the one who was ignant enough to say Biggie only got popular after dying. He got much, much more popular in death, it's a fact. But that's not what you said. I can take it with a pinch of salt though, You should probably do the same with Jonny's comment.

Check Mate Jonny Side-splitting. Can't believe the arguments spanned 3 pages honestly. If you like Jay Z most then he's the best. It seems strange to me though that on the one hand you argue the toss about who the superior artist is in as strict a sense as you seem to and then on the other use the "my opinion" defense which says you don't need facts, knowledge, credibility or a view of the consensus to make your own mind up on the music you love. The debate is as pointless as Shearer versus Milburn, Pacino versus De Niro, Euclid versus Newton or J69s lass versus anyone else's. Anyway, everyone knows Jay-Z rips off Ice-T more than Biggie. 99 Problems is his best bit of karaoke.

I guess you have to catch it at the right time.
