Again, I dont know the definite answer to this as both methods were muted originally. If it was the latter though then people who wanted to go down the Pension route would replace your stake rather than cash buyers. Makes sense. My concern would be that once the club is free of Ashley, the incentive is gone for other people to risk £25k of their pension to replace mine when I choose to withdraw it in 30 years time. I'd hate for the withdrawl of my pension to send the club into administration if there's no other takers down the line. The 2% annual return would mean leaving my money in the club for 50 years just to see a return on my investment. Sorry to get all Dragons Den on you. I realise people are doing this out of love for the club rather than to see a return on their investment. But a lot of the information available still seems to be around the initial 10% commitment and the associated liability rather than the long term investment and the safeguards for minimising losses. After all Mike Ashley is losing 70% on his investment if we match his asking price.

So anyone commiting with the intention of using their pension, needs a £2.5K deposit. Of which we'll lose £125 if it falls through? Or does the 5% of 10% only apply to cash pledges? I havent got the answers on the rest yet but in this case its no, those with a pension dont put down a deposit, I believe we will need to provide proof that the pension exists and is transferrable but thats it. Cheers PP. That's good.

When it comes time that I'm a bit short and want to end my investment. Do the Trust just give me my original stake back no questions asked? Or do I have to sell my single sharet to someone else? Once the club is safe, why would anyone buy my £25,000 share off me if they can buy someone else's £1,500 share?

one of the best posters, keeps a few in their place He's comedy gold. Not sure i ever saw him put anyone in their place though.

Nope. Foppy. We're sorry. Won't you come on home.

I'm trying to find out how the pension stuff will work and thought I'd show my working so far. The NUST website says.... That's very little information If I'm going to commit to an investment of thousands of pounds. I'd like a little more info before seeing a financial advisor. I had thought the trust were going to turn the club into a pensions provider sort of deal which meant we as fans would make a regular payment that would give the club ongoing working capital. But I can't see anything to suggest it's much more than a way the Trust suggest I come up with the money to invest initially. This offers no provision for cash injections required down the line. It's along the same lines as suggesting I take out a loan to invest my initial contributiuon. Am I wrong? Then Wiki says.... I assume that means NUFC becomes an "Investment trust subject to FSA regulation". Is that right? I'm not sure because.. So only 15% of funds collected by NUST could go to NUFC.

This is what concerns me. Where does the money come from to keep the club going, to compete in the prem, to buy players? Doesn't it come from the ongoing monthly pensions contributions? I'm still not clear on how the club pays out your pension like. Does that take precedence over Ameobi's wages?

The difference here is that all of those other clubs were purchased at a time when they were on the brink of disaster, clubs with small scale support, in addition they were doing it all via cash investment. What we are looking at as the thing to sustain the club is this whole pension investment. Its not been tried before but as Ive said elsewhere its seen as workable by those involved in the Pensions industry. Take Notts County out of the equation as that was a bad move on behalf of the voters, to go with big cash before finding out just who they were and what they actually had. Due Diligence works both ways tbh. I met the lads from Exeter a few weeks ago at the Supporters Direct AGM, they love it, its working well and the club is being sustained without a problem, in fact its going from strength to strength. I think its important to see that taking a club in huge debt and trying to run it based on supporter handouts will not work which is what a lot of those other clubs have done, having a strong structured plan in place beforehand which covers the future running costs is a different thing altogether. I'd love it if Newcastle could emulate Exeter (more than Stevie will love reading that sentence ). Hopefully the pensions thing will make all the difference, I'm very nervous given how many of these things have fallen apart at the seams though. We may be doing things differently to the other clubs that have failed, but that just makes us the next set of guinea pigs. Are Man U and Liverpool going down the pensions route with their buy out plans?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/20...uefa-david-conn I respect the intentions and generosity of anyone giving it a go, but I worry for the future of our club in the hands of fans. Fingers crossed the NUST can buck the trend of failing fan funded clubs.

Tight bastard Au contraire, I'm always fast and loose with my wallet. You'll all be on the payroll soon though. I hope it doesn't cause a split on the forum when you all start defending the heirarchy for investing your spon cautiously.

I'd hate to have a say in the running of the club. Half the fun is slagging off the people in charge. I hope you all won't take offence if i continue to do so when you're owners.

I love that method of dismissing facts as if they cloud the issue. XTC were a far better band and never got close to the widespread recognition The Police got.

Pitchfork have done their top 500 songs of the decade. Here's the top 10.... http://pitchfork.com/features/staff-lists/...e-2000s-20-1/2/ Of course, they said Interpol did the best album of 2002 ahead of Wilco so they have been known to talk shite.

I think you've underrated them. Not everyone else. They've gained ample recognition off the back of 5 albums. I like "De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da" the jibberish classic.

Sounds like an 'indie' Sophie Ellis Bextor.

Sorry to hear that. Our place has just announced a round of Q1 redundancies in 2010 too. It must be the 7th or 8th quarter in a row. After they cut salaries last year saying it would avoid the need for redundancies and taking away final salary pension arrangements and performance benefits worth about £2,000 each. Still, it's pushed the stock price to a 2 year high, to a level it only attained for a period of 3 months in 2008 at the peak of the bubble. Executive bonuses in the tens of millions for riding us through the difficult times are what's called for. [/sarcasm] The union are going to begin an industrial action ballot.

How does that work if no-one you know has had an invite? I'd love a shot.

I've not listened to any Vai for years. Nowt to do with the film is it? No idea. As Tom says, it's a live album and I haven't listened to any of his stuff for ages either. Came across it and thought I'd give it a go. In some respects, it's standard Vai fare really. I have to be in the mood to appreciate him and currently I'm not so I've turned it off. Whilst Vai is technically the more proficient guitarist, I've have to say I prefer to listen to Satriani. He has a better style. I've probably seen the pair of them live more than any other artist. I still go to see them whenever they're local because they amazing players. I've not got either of their albums since Crystal Planet though. There's no growth in what they do and there never will be. Air - Love 2 Yes I do see the irony in not listening to someone because of lack of growth....and then listening to Air's latest album, but they're good background music for working to....and Be a Bee seems to have learnt a trick from Fujiya and Miyagi.

No you haven't missed owt. I'm claiming the scalp from the Iran thread (jokingly) saying that's where the shame became too much for the boy. But the bodybuilding one was rather scathing too....and rather more entertaining.
