Applying that to your numbers for flights*. There's been 27 hijackings/bombings in 20 years. That's 1.35 a year. You said 87,000 flights over the US...but the bombings/hijackings are worldwide so the number will be far lower in reality, but using those numbers give you a 0.000004% chance of being on one of those flights. *You made a boob on your numbers btw, 100/31755000 = 0.000003. As a percentage that's 0.0003%. It made up for the factor of 100 your original estimate was out by like and got pretty close to the real number, so all's well that ends well .

<in my best goodfellas voice> ' am i a clown? how do i amuse you?....etc etc I wasn't laughing at you. I thought you meant it as a joke. It does seem extremely high. That's a plane going down every 3 days. Looking at the history, in 21 years there's been two bombings on planes.... 1994 Alas Chiricanas Flight 00901 2004 Russian aircraft bombings Compared with 20 or so in the 40 years prior to that. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Airliner_bombings If anything it's a downward trend. In terms of Hijackings, there were 12 notable occurences in all the 2000's. This compares with 13 in the 90's, 16 in the 80's and 21 in the 70s. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_notab...raft_hijackings These reduced numbers go hand in hand with an exponential increase in the number of flights being flown. Yet as these numbers dwindle, the panic whipped up seems to be inversely proportional to actual danger.

Probably because we haven't bombed, inavaded or occupied China or Israel.

Mike Ashley Uncovered: An Inside Out Special
Happy Face replied to Christmas Tree 's topic in General Chat
PP mentioned a few weeks ago that this was coming along. I had hoped it would be an expose of his Newcastle finances rather than a character assassination based on dodgy sporting goods retail practices which apply practically across the board. There's still hope I suppose. -
I do find it denigrating. being attacked for your political beliefs is akin to facism I've never voted bnp btw in case you're wondering, but by god i'm tempted! No-one is being attacked. Why do you see it as an attack?

Couple of people have mentioned going back for Beye if we go up. I was told last night there's no chance because at the end of last season Smith took charge of the dressing room and asked every player that didn't want to stay and fight for promotion to say so. Beye admitted he'd be off and this rather annoyed Smith who'd been reading in the paper how much Beye loves the Toon and wants to stay so he went for him and tried to throttle him. Is that Bollocks? They reckon it was Malcom Macdonald told the story. Was it on the Legends?

I tell you what it is, if you were there last night a bit of NUFC would've died in your heart, was actually depressingly bad, this is our spare time and money being devoted to a product that is absolutely diabolical. My contempt for Ashley grew 20% last night. And what made it worse was with the injuries we have, and players dropping like flies, and little to cheer on the pitch, the whole of the second half they kept singing how we're going to win the league. Sickened me to think of Mike Ashley sitting comfortably knowing the fans are happy.

I love it when Stevie and Leazes get in off the pop. we have a life and you don't, is that what you mean I enjoy lots of nights on the pop. I don't drink to build up my courage for having a cyber pop at anyone when I get in though.

yes they are white, but why draw attention to the colour? If I was to draw attention to a group of peoples colour when reporting, say a crime, i would be called racist. why not just call it 'Angry Men'? They researched the typical BNP voter. You might as well say it's not important where they're from, their age, sex or social class. Just call the report "Angry" Voters are classified all over the shop. The black vote for Obama has been analysed at length. And it's widely discussed that crime rates are higher among black men. No-one gets angry. It's only racist if you're denigrating a race with falsehoods and ignorance. Facts are just that. The fact you see being classified as a BNP voter as a form of denigration is telling.

Is this the same Chavez that got a standing ovation at the UN? And has given hundreds of millions in debt relief to Haiti.....unlike the US controlled IMF.

I'm sure US aid and humanitarian effort would be most welcome, unfortunately, that's not what they're doing. This is what they admit their presence is about. http://open.salon.com/blog/ezili_danto/200...unus_occupation Using the media to win an election. How evil. Wouldn't happen in the US.. (sarc mark)

They've got Leazes and Stevie bang on The author discusses the report here... Angry White Men Meh....... expecting impartiality from a BBC report is like asking LM about the Shepherd era. It's not a BBC report, it's an abstract for the report... http://www.politicalstudies.org/forthcomingissue.asp The BBC link is to an interview with the author. The report is going to be in the next edition of the Political Studies journal.

Something that doesn't get in the way of playing on the internet most of the day. I'm living the dream.

It was shite last night like. When the first goal went in these kids next to us just stood there. No jumping around, no "GERRRRIIIIIN!", no applause, nowt. I could understand if they'd just popped along as neutrals but they were wearing Newcastle strips.

Anyway, when are we going to get eyeball recognition computers that point the curser wherever you look and use blinks for clicks? The Mouse/touchscreen/mousepad are all looking a bit 20th century now.
