The reason you've softened is that there are some signs of green shoots and whatever we think of MA he's one shrewd fuck, he's certainly turned our finances around and next year he'll go into profit. Job done. Absolutley. I'm not too stuck in my ways to keep harassing the owner if we're doing as well as we were before Ashley arrived (by which I mean bottom half Premier League finishes Leazes, not Champions league football that we haven't seen in 7 years) or better. If we could come out of all the lies, the stupid decisions, the risks and the miserable football as one of the most financially stable clubs in the Premier league, while others are stuggling to pay wages, I'd hate to see Mike Ashley keep making the same mistakes and driving the fans to distraction when we could be pushing past those failing clubs, taking their players on the cheap.

If we're promoted will we be in better shape than 2 years back?

No he's not All of which strengthens my point about his switch in approach from supportive chairman to assett stripping cunt. -
I don't see why any top class manager would want to work under Llambias. I struggle to imagine anyone coming in while Ashley is here, but just about manage to, if he does like i said above and pins all the blame on Decka & Wise.

I dont think the portion of it is pie in the sky, as shown we have raised £50m so far so technicaly we could purchase half the club, whether that would actually work would be a totally different matter. As for backing the manager, yes he did appear to be doing so however he stopped doing that before the protests, that sudden lack of support is what got us to the position we are now. Selling players by lying to the manager and then buying ones KK didnt want was the start of this whole sorry mess. I don't doubt there's enough fan backing to buy into the club. I just don't believe Ashley wants to be a partner. As you and Alex say, he was pissing off Keegan in April over Modric, months before he walked. He lied to Keegan from day one saying he'd be in control of transfers too. But the system/people that created the problem aren't there any more. He was spending money, he was just giving it to the wrong people to spend.
-
I don't disagree with any of that. But is buying the club ourselves, or even a portion of it, just as much pie in the sky? I think before Llambias arrived he was backing the manager as we'd like. And the manager he appointed was extremely popular. The fact he's not been doing similarly since the Cockney Mafia out campaign started is perfectly understandable as he has no level of popularity to maintain. Currently I don't think Ashley sees any opportunity to regain his popularity as all the negativity is directed at him. It's either sell up or eat up our shit. If the anger was directed at llambias, where it's probably more deserved, the owner would have an option.

You're funnier than LM. It's like Chubby Brown and Nick Griffin. Nick Griffin is a racist buffoon you cheeky cunt, and I'm a liberal thinking visionary, or so I like to think at 11 o'clock on a Friday night. Anyway that's better than Alan Robson and George Galloway. I meant you're Chubby Brown man! LM is Nick Griffin.

I reckon Ashley wants the business of NUFC to thrive though. And while his stock is so low in the world of football it can't possibly. I think we have the choice of whether we target Llambias or Ashley. The NUST can aim to buy Ashley out completely (though they've said they can't) or pressure for the removal of Llambias (who's caused all the problems) and a chance to work with Ashley on positive terms.

I've surprised myself with two posts this morning which are fairer on Ashley than I'd normally be. At the moment, we're at an impasse. Ashley isn't selling the club, and even if he would, it's a huge risk that anyone coming in will be any better. So the fans are on his back every week and no manager worth his salt would come near us because of his reputation. Despite my disgust for what he's done, I've started to wonder if I (and the rest of the fans/NUST) could put that aside and support Ashley in the future for the good of the club. What would it take for me to do that? The way I see it, whatever Ashley has done over the last year and a half stems from the moment Keegan walked and the fans turned on him. What caused Keegan to walk? The setup, or more specifically the characters in the setup and how they chose to go about things. Wise, Jimenez and Vetere are all off the books now, which leaves only Llambias and Ashley. If Ashley were to sack Llambias, make a big show of it, tell the world it's been his bad advice that's caused all this, that he was to blame for the Keegan fiasco, that he wants a clean slate and to compete in the top flight, I think I could be more forgiving of him. It would be a positive step, an action to go with the rhetoric. I think it's the sort of compromise the fans should shift towards as an achievable goal. In the same way Freddie Fletcher was the fall guy a decade ago (rightly or wrongly), the people left in charge remained unpopular but a sorry saga was put behind us and everyone just got on with it. It'll never happen like. But i think by shifting the focus of contempt from the owner to the chief executive there's more scope for getting results.

If promoted who are we replacing Hughton with?

Whatever's happening on the pitch I won't call for any managers head while Llambias is in charge. God knows how much more damage he could do. -

I wouldn't go along with that. I think Ashley genuinely wanted to make a go of it until he fucked up big style with Keegan and (rightly or wrongly) the fans reacted as we did. He spent over £5m on six players, and every one of them was before THAT window... Barton Smith Enrique Gutierrez (not his choice to spend that much like) Coloccini Xisco Only 2 of the 7 players sold for over £5m came prior to THAT window... Parker Dyer Milner N'zogbia Given Martins Bassong A clear switch in approach imo. -

I didn't appreciate just how much Obama had increased attacks in Pakistan since this thread started. 2004 - 1 2005 - 2 2006 - 1 2007 - 3 2008 - 17 2009 - 46 In January of 2010 there have already been 11 separate attacks, 3 times as many as the average for each month last year. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drone_attacks_in_Pakistan And now CNN are reporting 5 drones were launched on 4 villages yesterday killing 29, so it looks like it's going to be another bumper month. http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/asiapcf/02/0...n.drone.strike/ Are there THAT many more militants in Pakistan than there were in 2007? Considering only 2 targets have been named across all of the 2010 attacks so far and none have been confirmed killed it wouldn't seem so.

January Spending in the Premier League... 2003 - £35m 2004 - £50m 2005 - £50m 2006 - £70m 2007 - £60m 2008 - £150m 2009 - £170m 2010 - £30M I know there's a recession on but that's low.

£20 for the lot.

Depends. Do you plan to store only a small amount of music, video & pictures; a medium amount or as much as possible.

So did I. In fact, the whole film had a very pleasing charm to it, very strong voice acting and was a very good take on the book. It was quite underrated in the grand scheme of things last year, sadly. I probably liked District 9 and Up the most out of all of those Best Picture nominations. Saying that, I've not seen A Serious Man or Up in The Air yet. The visual effects award (and all the nominations) seem to be given to the film with most computer graphics (not even the best). I was similarly pissed when Eternal Sunshine didn't even get nominated and I, Robot did, despite it's baddies looking superimposed on the screen like Roger Rabbit, but moving less realistically. Nice to see Nick Hornby nominated.

Can't believe Inglourious Basterds got all those. It was shit. I thought the visual effects on Where the Wild Things Go were better than any of the big explosiony films.

When Rooney shags around on his lass he makes sure it's with pensioners that he's paid for the pleasure. He's a fine example to the kids of not shitting on your own doorstep.

She had resigned from the Labour front bench over her principles in the past as well tbf. I really should check if other people have already made my point before hitting reply. -

Was it the same when she resigned over the Labour party stance on the first Gulf War too? -
Keegan was long gone when I started shagging Beresford's wife.

She resigned 7 years ago in protest over Iraq. Shouldn't she have been consistently saying these things since then? I know she has been critical, but this seems to be a lot of new strong stuff.
