  1. if you have been as frustrated with the old Criterion release of Withnail & I as I have been, there is absolutely no reason why you should not consider obtaining this disc. this Blu-ray release of Bruce Robinson's Withnail & I is very easy to recommend - it is attractively priced, porting all supplemental features from previous releases of the film, and notably better looking than the two SDVDs I have owned http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Withnail-and...ay-Review/4110/

Been listening to a lot of Brother Ali recently. Quite like the Wale album too. Any more recommendations in the 2 years since this thread died?
  5. There's a song on the new Yoko Ono album called Healing. For the first two months I had it I thought she was saying "Hearing".
  6. Been over a year of only smoking on a match day for me. Hardly think about it any other time.
  7. I find it best not to rush out and get what's available now. Best keep an aye on the deals and wait till thhere's a particularly good one... Just keep an eye on hotukdeals and jump on anything you can afford that's generating good heat. For example, if you can pay another hundred.... I also found the AVG suite wasn't preregistered, I had to download it from a specific AVG link and use the supplied registration key that was stuck on the outside of the box. So taking £314.96 of free stuff included you could say this was a laptop for just £85.03 http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/594290/sams...r-warranty-3-yr
  8. I was told that at Asda the interviews are quite long winded affairs covering 3 / 4 hours. They basically want to establish that you'll jump through hoops without question and can be a team player. 2 hours interrogation then 2 hours on the shop floor. When the Asda at the Metrocentre was being built I went for an interview for a job while at university. Pretty standard interview first time - just tell them you love working in a team, I told them i was in a band which needs teamwork and organisation for gigs, they love owt like that....it was complete bollocks like. They had us back as a group of 15 and gave us props and materials and had us making outfits and sets and putting on shows. I was waiting for Beadle to pop his little hand round the corner it was so surreal. I got the job, turned in for 1 night then fucked it off and went to work in a pub.
  9. Newcastle United manager Chris Hughton has decided to withhold the No 9 shirt from his strikers and challenge them to prove they are worthy of achieving "iconic" status. His stance means this season will be the first since shirt numbers were introduced in 1939 that Newcastle have gone without a No 9 in their ranks to follow in the footsteps of Jackie Milburn, Malcolm Macdonald and Alan Shearer. Hughton, speaking ahead of Friday night's visit of Cardiff City in the Championship, said: "It's one of the most iconic shirts around and it's something I've done deliberately. "We have a lot of strikers here and I'm quite sure every single one would have wanted to wear the No 9. "When I came to this club I was made aware what the No 9 meant to this club. For some, it can be a heavy number to carry, a burden if you like. I want somebody to earn the right to be Newcastle's No 9." Hughton's strategy emerged following the Championship leaders' signing of forward Leon Best from Coventry. "I don't want to suggest that the strikers we've got here aren't worthy of that position or that number," he added. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/...e-strikers.html?
  10. Must be a bugger having to get out your functional magnetic resonance imaging scanner every time the wife asks if you want a cuppa.
  11. The BNP The Terrorists The Shepherd The Russians The Dubya Dubya 2 The Spies The Immigration stats The gays This thread has EVERYTHING. Can't wait to find out what tangent it takes tomorrow. Will it be paedophiles? Will it be Thatcher? Who the fuck knows which dots Leazes' addled brain is capable of joining.
  12. Another quality Newswipe this week. The bit about celebrities in the news for a 'cause' was especially funny. Sky News going to Afghanistan to ask Jude Law about the situation on the ground At least Jordan knows her place.
  13. Why? Costs will have been cut down to a bare minuimum and Premier league money guaranteed for another 2 years. I think promotion guarantees he stays for at least that long. Cause he's been trying to get out since he got in. Who says? I've only seen him call a £200m offer "an insult" and then scare off several parties interested enough to provide proof of funds up to £100m by showing them the books. He's then dropped the asking price to £80m, not while haggling with those parties though, but only once they'd walked away and no-one was left who'd shown an interest. What do you think KK was doing in NY last summer? What? Exaclty. It's classified anyway. Fuck all then. I thought so. I'm sure you can work it out. I afraid I can't . I need it spelled out. I fail to see how Keegan could be doing ANYTHING ANYWHERE that shows Ashley is or was eager to sell.....especially since nothing whasoever seems to have come of it. Keegler saw the writing on the wall early. He was looking for investors one of which was NY based.... Whether or not that's true it says nothing about Ashley's intentions though.

  19. I've often wondered whether his intention was to spend big if the debt hadn't been there. Then again I can't understand if that was the case why he didn't just bite the bullet and spend anyway. Wasn't his stated intention always to put in another £20m each season? Which he claims to have stood by even having paid off the debt. He would say the additional £20m a season has gone on running costs. The argument against that is that he's only loaned the club money and so shifted the debt and gone on to increase it even further. The 20m was part of his infamous first sale statement and looked like shite made up just for that imo. And has been constantly repeated. November 2009 "He has out another £20million in this week, and that's just for the running costs. Come January, we might have to put some more in." October 2009 “I have to put £20m a year into the club — I spend more than every other fan put together puts into the club each year. "In confirming the news, Mike Ashley stated that he is totally committed to the future success of Newcastle United and will be focusing on gaining promotion back to the Premier League. Mike will put a further £20m into the Club this week." September 2008 "I was always prepared to bank roll Newcastle up to the tune of £20 million per year " "I would pour up to £20 million a year into the club and not expect anything back."
  20. They were in Pakistan in 2007. That doesn't account for a forty fold increase in bombing attacks since then. At that time there were named targets for the majority of covert attacks. They sometimes even managed to hit those target along with the innocent bystanders which at least gave it some arguable justification. Of the 11 attacks in January, only 2 specific targets have been named and none are confirmed as hit. Bush put more thought into his bombing than Obama. Rather than acting on good intelligence to target valuable militants, Obama is leaning towards blanket bombing large areas and taking out a corresponding larger number of civilians. Maybe the army were using the inexperience and (possible) naivety of the new regime to ramp up there own agenda. Perhaps. In other Pakistan news, 3 US soldiers have been killed in Pakistan even though the US deny having a presence there... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/8494890.stm
