Mike Ashley plans to remain Newcastle owner for at least two more years
Happy Face replied to Tom's topic in Newcastle Forum
Happy, is that Johny Dekka as your avatar?? if so, inspired choice my friend!! It is Seconded, just said the same on another thread (now deleted). Mind, he's a North Shields legend, not South Shields. Get your own mad as a box of frogs hobo please. Edit: apparently not deleted! I'm living between the two areas now so I can claim image rights on Decka. I would have a picture of Billy Meths, Cowboy or Paddy though, but Stevie wouldn't approve of any 'mackem' tramps (and I couldn't find pictures). -

Does this mean you have nothing to backup your statement!? The growing debt.... In summary what Shepherd left was a club that was losing over £30m a year, had debts of £70m, had no assets they could borrow more money against, and had a set of players on long, lucrative contracts - nufc-finances.org.uk/ "This club had £100million-worth of debt which has now been cleared" - Chris Mort in May 2008 "I then poured another £110 million into the club not to pay off the debt but just to reduce it. The club is still in debt. Even worse than that, the club still owes millions of pounds in transfer fees." - BBC "I have invested £250m to try and make it happen" - Telegraph "Since the beginning of the season, he has pumped £25.5m into this football club and this week, a further £5m was needed. In addition to these amounts, Mike, realising the need to bring in new faces and back his manager's request, spent £5.5m in the January transfer window" - BBC I don't have a clue if the debt has spiralled as much as the club claim though. Obviously they are liars and they want it both ways. Either they've fixed the club and made us a viable going concern in which case they'd have to be lying about all the money they've been forced to keep putting in, or the club is insolvent which means they're lying about how well run the club has been. -

We have one though, I dont see the logic in creating another. The idea is that we have an entire level set aside for those that want to sing, creating another section would either bomb miserably (imho) or would result in a number of those from L7 moving to the new one thereby reducing the numbers in L7 and the subsequent noise created. In turn that would mean more "non-singing" fans would be placed in L7 which would result in more trouble from those who think they're going to be able to sit and watch the match without people standing up around them. As far as I can see, what needs to be done is increase L7's voice, not dissapate it into smaller groups elsewhere, increase that, get them singing a wider range of songs with some good oldies in there and try to motivate the rest of the ground to join in. SJP is not designed for banners (unfortunately), there are no areas where a banner could logically be placed, other than L7 and hanging over the balcony which, if memory serves me has already been tried and battered down by the stewards although Im sure the likes of HF and the lads from the Ultras will be able to confirm/ refute. Edit: And Im in the NE corner, the atmosphere is fairly quiet although when a song does get going theres plenty of us joining in, but I refuse to join the bloke 3 rows in front who permanently tries for Toon Toon, Black n White Army.... What about displaying banners where I have highlighted in this picture? That's L7 I think the banners only get pulled down when they're calling Ashley a rapist and that kind of thing though. -

Smelled a bit apparrently. Still got Jenkins' biography of him in the house to get started on, which I bought years ago. Supposed to be definitive. I was dead keen too, until Mark in Peep Show started getting excited over a girl who was reading it in a cafe. He wanted to propose there and then iirc

Seen them at Newcastle and Wembley. Good shows. Are they back together like? I thought Tyler was having nowt to do with the band any more.

Llambias - Fans that criticise are "not reasonable"

Aye. But so will any young talent when there's a £15k salary cap. I think it was just because we went down, plus the club was a total mess etc. Although you're correct about in the long run. I should have said "and" rather than "but". I don't think we disagree. -

Good laugh watching Llambias on Look North last night. He was sad that he and Mike can't go out for a drink on the town any more. God knows why if it's only a small, unreasonable minority that hold a grudge. -

Because the first priority after relegation was to stem the cash flowing out of the club by way of cutting the wage bill, slashing jobs and getting money into the coffers. Not pleasant but given relegation the only option. Aye, and Zoggy and Milner? I'm not saying he's wrong stem the flow of cash out of the club by the way. He should have been doing that the first year he was here rather than spending as wildly as Shepherd had. He can't reduce the debt by keeping hold of good young players others are willing to pay for though. -

Why's anyone pinning any hope on bringing in talented youth when the Bassong example shows exactly what Ashley does with even the lowest paid, highest value for money squad members that can generate a profit. -

No doubt, but he's now realised that noone is interested in buying football clubs at the moment. They're money sinks as a result of spendthrift 'rich' clubs throwing far too much money around at players, consequently forcing the price of players up beyond the amount that can be recompensed with regular footballing income. The recent drastic increases in Television money has only served to further blow out player wages and transfer fees. I think in the next 5 years we'll see wages and transfers settle down quite a bit, and consequently clubs like Newcastle (big gates, merchadise sale etc) will be able to run at a profit. When this happens buyers that are more than fantasy may emerge. Do you think Ashley would sell a club making a profit for less than he's put in? He claims he was willing to sell for £80m before the season started. He claims to have put in a further £50m since then. Will he now be loooking for £130m on his £300m investment? Would anyone pay that for a club that required £50m of loans in it's previous season? -
As a 5 year old he was always my favourite thanks to the comedy name. RIP

Michael Hutchence died 13 years ago. I've tried holding my breath during a wank, but 30 seconds isn't really long enough to expire.
