  1. http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?...st&p=721893 I prefer to read what you think, not some mouthpiece from the US with little understanding of economics or healthcare. I think it's a fine thing what happened last night. I think a whole lot more could have gone in at the same time had Obama not already dealt it away last year. I think the entire bipartisan approach was a complete waste of time and energy, as the republican vote shows.

  3. The perfect bill for the poorest Americans....and the wealthiest...especially those with shares in pharma or insurance. A middle class skull fucking.
  4. All out of contract and looked out of their depth this season, never mind next. I'll eat my hat if any of them play on for us next year. He'll have two years left on his contract and I don't think it will have gone unnoticed amongst any potential buyers that he's only managed 8 goals this season, even in the championship. Can't see him going anywhere. I'd try to cash in on Nolan's player of the year award. He's smart enough to find space in the championship, doesn't quite manage it in the top flight. Wouldn't tinker with too much else though.
  5. As opposed to one point from avoiding relegation and 48 points off the champions league, but lets not look backwards.
  6. And Leazes would know about that I am one of the few people who correctly called Ashley, and got the Halls and Shepherd into the correct perspective. Its quite refreshing that you have admitted elsewhere you got them wrong, and yet still say that I am spouting rubbish. You should admit that I was right, and bow down to someone who had superior judgement Shit Im going to bite........ Pop the link in where you correctly called Ashley. I will look tomorrow. Your defence of Ashley is admirable, but naive and misguided I'm afraid. We will never qualify for the Champs League like we did, under his ownership, like we did under the previous regime, while he has a hole in his arse. He has taken us back over 20 years in fact, and people like you have completely accepted the lower standards and expectations that he has inflicted on the club and its support. Just for you Leazes... http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?...st&p=407332 6 months after my post in the other thread like
  7. Not at all but i do think we will spend about 15-20mil in the summer...we HAVE to and he knows that! Totally spot on. Ashley won't risk relegation again AND has the cash to do what needs to be done. I think he might well spend that much over the season...but he'll wait until January to see if he really needs to. I really hope not. I hate panic buying. Money spent in January to bring players into a club in a tumultuous situation means you pay too much for players who aren't wanted elsewhere. On top of that they come into a club where morale is low so already they get off on the wrong foot. You get much better value buying players in the off-season. They have a much better chance to settle in the club and get to know their team mates with the air of pre-season excitement and positivity. I'd much rather 15mill spend in the summer than 20 mill spent in January. Ideally though it would be 15mill in the summer then an additional 5-10 in January to cover any injuries or deficiencies that have become apparent across the season. I'd prefer us not to spend too much in the summer to be honest, exactly because they don't have long to settle even with a pre-season. I think we have a far better chance with the squad that won promotion and want to play for the shirt. Maybe one or two additions tops.

Its quite refreshing that you have admitted elsewhere you got them wrong, and yet still say that I am spouting rubbish. You should admit that I was right, and bow down to someone who had superior judgement Come on Leazes, tell it like it really is. We've agreed (as most people do) they made a lot of mistakes as well as bringing us some great times we'll not see again for a long time. I've always told it like it is. 5th most qualified team for europe in the country, 5th highest average league position, transformed the club, transformed the stadium, filled it every week, bough top quality footballers to the club etc etc.........so what exactly are you disagreeing with here ? That's the point. I've never disagreed with any of that. Show me where I have and I'll admit you were right and I was wrong.
  9. More or less. They're my facts, but I'd challenge anyone to disprove them. I was basically trying to remove feelings from the picture to give a run down of the last couple of years under Ashley. Most of them can't be disproved because they aren't even concrete statements of actions taken, more your take on the reasoning behind the actions taken which we'll never know. Only one wasn't... I agree, but then he didn't help by increasing the wage bill and transfer spending exponentially in his first year signing expensive flops like Viduka, Barton, Smith, Geremi, Coloccini and Xisco. And WRT to.. That's more speculation but Chris Mort said in August 2007 "We did the typical due diligence one would do on a public takeover. There is no sense that anyone has tried to mislead us." So what should we believe?

  13. OK Howabout August '09 http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?...st&p=658375 I dont quite get your point. If your asking if the last 18 months have been a rollercoaster of emotions and views, the answer is yes and I dont think I've ever denied that. (Im sure you'll find it if I have) I have hated Ashley, protested against him, joined NUSC, left NUSC, hoped a sale would go through, when we were up for sale, and now considering all that has happened and no shining knights on the Horizon, consider it a good idea to get behind the club and see if the 60th richest man in England really does want to now take us forward. Thats a grown up, considered view of events, which most Newcastle fans seem to share. You on the other hand seem to want to remain the angry man compiling compendiums. I dont know where that gets you other than bitter and twisted.....But hey ho, each to their own. There's tens of thousands of people that still get behind the team as much as they ever have and support the club 100%, through thick and thin. Me included. Correct me if I'm wrong but you're not one of those. Weren't you on a total boycott...until we look like we might win the championship. Most of us don't have to back-peddle to be able to celebrate promotion. We'll be happy about going back up while fully recognising that nothing whatsoever has changed at the club and the outlook is as grim as it ever was. I understand you have some backtracking to do if you're going to stop your boycott and enjoy our return like the more dedicated fans, but don't be telling us we're wrong to recognise what a grade A twat Ashley is when you've been one of the most vocal of his opponents.

  16. Possibly the most stupid post I've read on any message board, anywhere. Must be a day for this sort of thing. I read this on another board...
  17. Source? Various accadacca threads for starters No. acca said it would be a walk in the park. People were wary of being so cocky. Which is fair enough given our undeserved reputation as delsional fans. Quote the several people that said we'd get relegated though. As I said, I've no problem admitting I thought we would struggle, and the reasons why. What a shame that so many people can't bring themselves to admit they were wrong about the Halls and Shepherd, as I told them. Who was wrong about the Halls and Shepherd's? What made their long term prospects better than Portsmouth's (who also came up from the second division and got into Europe for good times off the back of big spending)? Was Portsmouth's problem only that they didn't spend MORE when they started to decline. You're spot on that it was some of the best times we'll not see for a long time, you've just never explained what made it sustainable once shepherd had the club losing £30m a season, in debt for over £70m and finishing in the bottom half regularly. you can't talk about long term prospects when they ran the club for 15 years and delivered more than anybody had done for decades previous to them, and so far the current owner. I've never denied they made mistakes, the situation at the end was recoverable, the appointment of Allardyce was recognition of a new approach, but at the end of the day give me a board with ambition to compete at the top levels against one who does not anyday. And I don't think anyone's ever denied they did great things, so why do you keep bringing it up? why do some people continue to accept lower standards ? Who? Christmas Tree? Give him a defeat or two and he'll be running for office in the NUST and organising protests. His opinion changes with every fare in his cab.
