  1. "Will Joey Barton's return to the squad be the big #NUFC news tomorrow? It's unlikely....." Scott Wilson from the echo on Twitter
  2. This kind of thing really should be kept on the pitch.

  5. And what has Ashley done to give you the slightest idea top 4 is anywhere on his "to do" list? The top 4 wasn't on his to do list BEFORE we got relegated so god knows why it would be now.
  6. Look at it like a divorce CT, one you've been going through for 2 years. Yes, you're getting back your record collection, which is nice, but the slag is still living in the house where you pay the mortgage and won't let you see the kids. See thats just more pessimism..... I'll look at it as Mike Ashley, making the decisions to secure promotion. Can you remind me one more time what decisions those were? Apart from deciding not to settle with Keegan and taking the club through an embarrasing tribunal where he was forced to admit he's a liar. And apart from deciding pay his fat mate to streak naked across the pitch. And apart from deciding to make the unethical business decisions that saw the BBC make a program about him. And apart from deciding to make the unethical business decisions that saw him become the target of a fraud investigation. And apart from deciding to announce that the stadium would be renamed before securing a sponsor and generating tens of thousands of signatures in petition against the proposal. And apart from deciding to insult the supporters that generate millions in income by calling them 'unrealistic'. And apart from deciding to frequently shove people into the media spotlight to congratulate him on these kinds of decisions. Do you mean the decision to spend £5m in January? That one thing makes it all ok? The thing is I guess this is a pointless argument for you because no matter what happens now you will also find a way to look for the gloomy route. If he spends 25 million and we finish mid table I guess you will still not be happy. He apologised for releagation last year. He's not apologised for any of those things that all happened since. I've already asked about how he's stabalised the club but i never saw an answer. If he spends £25m then it'll blow your argument out of the water. His claims of making the tough choices to have stabalised the club and the importance of doing so will be exposed as lies. He has to stick to his austerity approach if he's to be taken seriously. Otherwise last January's sales look even more idiotic than we all know they were. I'm sure he won't mind looking an idiot though, it's never stopped him from doing anything in the past. So rather than your usual compendium track record, why dont you list some things he could realistically do that would convince you he was now trying to take the club forward. (And Im talking future football related actions before you start saying.....Apologise for this, apologise for that.....) Thats simple enough surely I've never asked for or wanted an apology. you seem to think that's huge. it's just words as far as i'm concerned. I've started threads on this. Sack Llambias. One thing. Simple as that. He cannot possibly claim to have learned his lesson while still carting Llambias out to defend what's gone on. If he got rid. I'd think he might understand at last. To get me singing his praises, he could cancel the loan. He claims he was was happy to write this off anyway if anyone would buy, so why's it still an albatross around our neck? Converting the debt into equity would show me he's commited. Of course it's not a problem to have it outstanding while he's not charging interest....at the moment it's more of a signpost that he's keeping his options well and truly open in hope of clawing it back.
  7. Crocked before half time. ...or sent off.

I'll look at it as Mike Ashley, making the decisions to secure promotion. Loving your positive outlook mister. You seem almost as positive as you were about the club being sold by the 'end of the week'. If you close your eyes tight and REALLY REALLY hope as hard as you can it might actually work out for you this time too.
  11. I've been giving my full and unswerving support to the club through this whole debacle. What exactly are you bringing to the table Mr Boycott?

  13. And Leazes would know about that I am one of the few people who correctly called Ashley, and got the Halls and Shepherd into the correct perspective. Its quite refreshing that you have admitted elsewhere you got them wrong, and yet still say that I am spouting rubbish. You should admit that I was right, and bow down to someone who had superior judgement Shit Im going to bite........ Pop the link in where you correctly called Ashley. I will look tomorrow. Your defence of Ashley is admirable, but naive and misguided I'm afraid. We will never qualify for the Champs League like we did, under his ownership, like we did under the previous regime, while he has a hole in his arse. He has taken us back over 20 years in fact, and people like you have completely accepted the lower standards and expectations that he has inflicted on the club and its support. http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/...,68021.676.html " In each case there came a point where the evidence was overwhelming that my optimism was unfounded. " At least it seems like a proper debate that thread Leazes, not the hysteria on here. (Couldnt see you in that link tho??? Confused) Are you reading the same thread. The one where they're debating whether we "needed to be relegated" as if it was the Ashley masterplan? And you talk about rewriting history.

  15. £147m of debt versus £70m of debt. Losing £25m a season versus losing £30m a season. That's stabalised?
  16. My first away game since Liverpool last season... ....when Barton got cheered off the pitch for getting sent off. Wonder if he'll still have the sympathy of the Newcastle fans when he comes on. Either way, I still think he's a dick head.
  17. Can't see how anyone would think this. It was atrocious. Like Mirrormask (the other animated Neil Gaiman story I've seen) it looked cheap and rushed, like something that belonged on CBBC rather than on a movie screen. When you see something as gorgeous as Curse of the Were-Rabbit, a beautifully designed, lit, animated, scripted and directed joy to behold, this just didn't bare comparison at all. I think worst of all was the sound design which was as bad as any amateur animation you'll see on youtube (except maybe that one Kevin posted up), If there's no one speaking or clicking their heels sound was non-existant. I cannot fathom the critical acclaim for it.
  18. They did what in 93? Insurance companies were the big spenders against reform back then, as were conservatives. There were no pharma company run ads against reform in 93. Drug re-importation doesnt benefit anyone but the wholesalers, even the EU backed away from diverting profits from those who research and develop new health technologies, to parallel wholesalers who merely leech resources away from healthcare. The discount to the patient / consumer is eroded by the transport costs and the margins taken by the traders. These are just logistics firms who trade across borders, not healthcare investors or partners. Aye, insurance were the most vocally opposed. I see it as a necessary evil to get business to go along....Obama promised he'd do that in the open with full transparency. He did it in back room deals the White House denied as long as they could. Also That's the same excuse they are still using against the current bill. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0709/25594.html As if the most important thing about passing legislation to protect tens of millions of people is that it should fit in a pamphlet no bigger than a Newcastle program. EDIT: and again, there's been no success whatsoever in bipartisan cooperation. 100% of repblicans voted no despite all the concessions. Certainly 'no abortions' and that would have convinced lots of democrats to vote in favour though.
  19. And it continued its slide into the Championship under his running. ...and thankfully we are going back up. So what is your point?? Another example of your long-term damage CT; reducing expectations to such a degree that relegation is passed off as just one of those things, so long as we get back up again. The point he is making, which is clear as day to me, was that we were heading downwards before Ashley came here. 1 month before Ashley bought us we had just finished 6 points off relegation. Surely its quite easy to understand his view that we were on the slide without getting all hysterical It was a risk that we might get relegated under Shepherd. Lucky Ashley came in and made certain of it.
  20. http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?...st&p=721893 I prefer to read what you think, not some mouthpiece from the US with little understanding of economics or healthcare. I think it's a fine thing what happened last night. I think a whole lot more could have gone in at the same time had Obama not already dealt it away last year. I think the entire bipartisan approach was a complete waste of time and energy, as the republican vote shows. The Reps' know that Oh banana will be most vulernable in his first term and they are just trying to fhu. If they can limit him to one term they can get back to business as usual....IMO he has come over too far in their direction in an effort for damage limitation. Also Americans are too dumb, you can't really tell them the truth behind these issues....I mean they started calling OB a communist didn't they?/! It's like the black dude that's shagging Leazes's daughter pretending to like Dire Straits. He's still a black dude, he'll never win him over. Best just stick some Jay-Z on and touch her up right in front of the old goat. I had dinner with 20 prostate cancer specialist a few weeks back when i was on the west coast of the US. This one Dr i sat next to was an amazing bloke. He was from North Carolina so i was treading carefully on the issue of reform and politics. Anyway, this geezer was about 65-70 yo, had prostate cancer himself and when i asked him about health reform what he said was remarkable. He told the story of 3 young men in his care with an aggressive form of the cancer and without insurance. He explained that he, along with his colleagues, had provided care free of charge for these 3 men, giving them surgery (radical prostatectomies) and had negotiated to get free courses of chemotherapy from a deal done with their health centre and our company. I asked him how prevalent that sort of behaviour was in his profession and if that sort of will existed, why was there not a will for stronger reform? He said 'not everybody wants to get paid less but the real problem is one of race, the problem is that he is black'. He apologised for it and was clearly quite moved by the discussion. He was also a massive history buff and gave me loads of recommendations on British history, one of his specialist subjects. I have to admit i was in complete awe of him. What you sayin like? I was only young at the time, so someone correct me if i'm wrong but when Clinton the white man was pushing for reform, there wasn't any support from big business, more complete opposition with millions spent on negative ad campaigns. There was also hardly any opposition whatsoever amongst the people, certainly not the passionate resistance we see with organised protests calling the president a commie. This time the health industry have spent millions in support of the bill, and it's the people Fox news have whipped into a frenzy with irrational fear of the black man that oppose. Either way, the will of the people seems irrelevant. As long as Obama did what Clinton failed to do and made it palatable to the health industry peeps, they wouldn't stand in it's way. Don't think they wanted to stand in the way of OB's first sortie into the unknown, anyway the medicine is modified enough so as 'special interests' haven't had to go to defcon 5. Big Pharma sees America as a big dumb market and is self-aware enough not to rock the boat too much. I was personally shocked at the whole 'illegal immigrants' will suck our money if there is reform bollocks...Anyway the financial crisis is just about to take another turn for the worst...so this will pale into the background... Obama made agreements with big Pharma (no drug re-importation and bulk price negotiations) and Insurance (no public option) so as they wouldn't kick up a fuss against his plan. In '93 they rocked the boat like mutha fucka's without those kind of assurances. It wasn't a case of sitting this one out, they aggressively pursued their interests so that if change was going to happen they'd be ok. Once they were secure of that that, they left the politicians they'd contributed just under £178m to to have a political slanging match over how best to deliver their profits. Edit: Dollars I mean

  22. Who's sparking all these Ashley debates? Without such ridiculous pro-ashley, attention seeking threads there's be a lot less whinging, bitching and moaning in response.
