Given that he's proven to be no danger to society over more than 30 years and the victim hates the media circus around it so much she's asked for the charges to be dropped, I think it's a wate of money treating him so fairly.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out during the summer. Given the commonly quoted 15 mill budget, Ashley might just let him get on with it, however the best deal might have harmed him. It would also be interesting to know whether Hughton was infact responsible for the January dealings. Ie was Routledge his eye for a player or someone elses. If I was Ashley and If I was going to be commited to the club, my next appointment would be a very good football man running the operatin and possibly a dreaded director of football to help Hughton. What does Llambias do then? No-one can match Decka on the PR front.

Portsmouth administrators reveal club debts of £120m

Didn't stop Ashley trying -
The film was shot before his arrest. He edited it in jail. He was trying to do it on his laptop in his cell, but found it a struggle (as you would) so he went to see the govenor and got a nice little dedicated room off the cafeteria filled with equipment and his French editor was allowed to come each day until 4.30pm. If only all cons could apply themselves so positively in chokey.

Either way, he's an inexperienced kid who's only played one game after a 6 month lay-off. I can't agree that refusing a (purely imaginary, cloud cuckoo land) £20m offer would be a wise move at this point.
-
He's made a couple of Cup appearances and came on in the league against Leicester so he should know he's on the cusp. Been difficult to give him more time than that this season, what with being injured for 6 months.

Is Hughton the right man for the big league?
Happy Face replied to Christmas Tree 's topic in Newcastle Forum
Is it just me or do those two groups of players seem almost entirely arbitrary? naw they are, Jonas in the grey area and danny simpson in the reliable one. Must remember that when i'm watching the world cup this summer "Jonas what are you doing here!" Ironic he should question whether Jonas could perform at old Trafford when he had his best game of last season at old trafford and garnered plaudits across the board for it. I can't imagine a sports journalist going off half cocked though. They have too much integrity for that. -

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8633455.stm A good move towards ensuring the next crisis isn't as bad without going so far as to punish any of the corporations that caused the recent one......except in terms of the stock prices which are bound to tumble with this news....and again if/when it's put into action. Glad it's come up during the election when all the parties will have to go on the record in support to curry favour with the electorate, basically neutralises the lobbyists for a few weeks.

indeed. Shame I got so much flak for having to point it out so often to the misguided. Including you it would appear as you hav esaid you are reluctant to get into a dialogue with me for some strange reason when you say you agree with me ........ the question being, have you always agreed with me and if you have why didn't you say so at the time Except we hadn't finished in the top 5 in the 3 years before we even knew Ashley's name. Our average position was 11th in that time. Rose tinted specs to say it was a "joy" to watch the teams of Souness or Roeder. Not that that should get in the way of abusing the fat fuck like. cherry picking. We actually finished 7th in 2005-06, and qualified for europe. When do you think we will do that again ? How's it cherry picking? 7th isn't 5th. Just keeping the criticism realistic. how thick are you, look at the whole 15 years or don't look at anything.......... as an afterthough, did you EVER think during the years we were playing in the Champions League and europe regularly ie more than anybody but 4 other teams - that we would ever actually get relegated again and celebrate an "embarrassing" promotion again accordingly ......... Course I didn't, but you're having a completely different conversation...as usual. Ashley didn't drain away any of the "joy we had when we were regularly in Europe and one of the top 5 clubs in the country", Shepherd had already done that with regular mid-table finishes under 3 years of Souness and Roeder. Of course Ashley went on to make it even worse, but that's not what Trophyshy suggested. Are you saying you enjoyed Shepherd's last 3 years at the club as much as the previous 12? no. But Notts Forest fans don't dwell too much on Brian Cloughs last season as manager and suggest the rest never happened either do they. You're cherry picking. Things always change. The point is that they were by far the best we have had in 50 years and are highly unlikely to be matched in the near future either. Where have I ever suggested the rest never happened you straw man building aad coot? Once again you're ignoring what's being discussed completely to have the same old argument with yourself whereby you imagine a make believe scenario where I wasn't happy to be playing in Europe and proceed to tell me I was wrong to think that way. No matter how much I repeat how happy I was to be playing in Europe the voices in your failing head keep repeating the mantra "top 5 club and no-one else realised" as if you've realised then zen like state of self enlightenment us young whipper-snappers can only hope to reach some day. BEING TOP 5 AND IN EUROPE REGULARLY WAS BRILLIANT AND WE ALL LOVED IT. Notts forest don't dwell on Clough too much in the same way I don't dwell on Shepherd too much. There's only one person on this forum who won't let that argument go. However Clough got them to a couple of cup finals and finished 8th twice in his last 3 years. He hadn't finished outside the top 10 in a decade before relegation (we finished more seasons in the bottom half than we did in the top half in Shepherd's last decade). As soon as he got them relegated he buggered off. It was a rapid decline as alcoholism took it's toll on him. If he'd hung about like a bad smell another couple of years, it probably would have tarnished his reputation even more than relegation did. Let me ask you, do you blame Frank Clark for Notts Forest not playing in Europe regularly and challenging for the league when he was manager. After all by your logic it couldn't have been Cloghie's fault (despite getting them relegated), his record over 18 years was too good for him to be blamed in any way shape or form. Does this statement ring true with you....."Frank Clark's pesky meddling and Magooish ineptitude drained away a great deal of the anticipation and joy Forest fans had when they were regularly in Europe and one of the top 5 clubs in the country"?

Getting to know Nick http://www.metro.co.uk/news/822488-general...-x-factor-shock Is he a lunatic? Admitting he doesn't like Eastenders, Corrie or the X-Factor? Some people might think he's an honest politician. Unlike Gordon who claims he's "less popular than Archie from The Eastenders"

Nuclear Scaremongering about Iran from Clinton
Happy Face replied to Happy Face's topic in General Chat
Of course the pentagon have a playbook for every country. The fact they've announced the news that they're concentrating on the Iran war plan is not a coincidental bit of spring cleaning though. It's something to sadden us that a peaceful, NPT compliant, democratic country is being pressured by this kind of aggressive posturing. -
That would require the assumption that councils have any kind of functioning communications between their various departments. But I can understand why people think that way, obviously. If Council tax was levied against houses rather than people then the number of voters will rise drastically. Dame Thatcher used the poll tax (re-named council tax) to wipe out some of the lower levels of voters who traditionally don't vote Tory (sneaky)... Erm, as far as I am aware Council tax is levied against the property, not the person? What are you on about? Obviously don't pay it. It's calculated by how many adults are living in a residence and the size of the residence and the working status of those adults. Whereas before it was levied against the house alone (iirc down to size and location). I've owned poperty since 1995. It's my understanding that council tax is based on a valuation band which in turn is based (loosely) on the value of the property. The number of occupants is irrelevant (but actually perhaps shouldn't be). There is ONE bill per home (usually paid by the owner unless agreed otherwise). I don't see how this will affect voting. The more people that live in your house the more council tax you pay, can't really make it clearer than that bro. Absolute tosh! The only exception to the rule is single occupancy when you only pay 75% of the charge. Poll Tax was levied against the person but Council Tax is most definitely levied against the property so anyone refusing to register on account of tax evasion is wasting their time! Not quite absolute tosh then is it.

Sat navs would run the ipod close for best invention of the decade. How many wives still have their teeth thanks to a sat nav doing their job for them....better?

Concil tax is discounted for single occupants. Registering 2 people to vote at an address could conceivably be evidence of fraudulently claiming a discount.

Depending on the make of your sat nav you may be able to find a torrent with all the maps you require. I did it when I put the Tom Tom software on my sat nav. That's good to hear Cheers

Why start a sat nav thread when one already exists?

I'd suggest going to the website of your manufacturer. A good idea....but i'm at work and don't know the manufacturer so i thought i'd ask.

If my sat nav only has UK maps, where can i go for maps of other countries to upload? Do I have to pay for them?
