Newcastle want director of football

Looking at the deals that have fallen through, it could well be that Ashley has looked at how Llambias has done on that score and realised he couldn't negotiate a good deal on ice from the eskimos. However, he's tying any negotiators hands behind their back with his wage structure and a rigid ceiling on transfer fees. -

I'm not so sure.... source -
Who is that through mate? Rumoured it's going to be considerably more than that over here. Apple generally just change the $ to a £ when they launch over here don't they? You can get them for $499 anyway which is about £330 innit?

Gentleman's Agreement 1947 Best Film oscar winner about the subjugation of jews in polite New York society. I like Gregory Peck. Bit of a sickly sweet ending like. Suspicion 1941 Best Film oscar nominated film about a woman who marries a bit of a cad and worries about what he's up to. I like Cary Grant. Bit of a sickly sweet ending like. -

By the way...does this all stem from a post on the journal forum and Geordies.net ffs? http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q...q=&gs_rfai= -
Never heard that before. Very good! It's impressive if you listen to the rap version first and then their cover. They've completely re-worked it and made something better than the original. Not heard that, but sounds like what Ben Folds does with Bitches Ain't Shit.....or Ben Kweller does with Ice Ice Baby.

What amazes me is the people still going to church and propping up a hideous cult set up to give pederasts access to kids. Why aren't catholics taking a stance and demanding more action to punish the criminals that represent them? Can you imagine the witch hunt against any muslims that refused to condemn a terrorist attack in their name? PS - Done a search on the news to see if it was happening anywhere but not being covered by the media....and it seems Sinead O'Connor has been advocating it. http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/03/3...tholic-boycott/ At the same time perhaps its a good idea not to over react - I'm sure the large majority of priests aren't abusers. There. That's as much defence of the catholic church I'm going to give. But it's TheChurch PLC policy to protect whichever priests do choose to rape children. Is it an overreaction to refuse such an entity your business until such a policy is reversed? Is it an overreaction to say, anyone paying the popes wages is complicit?

it does if this guy has more power over choices than hughton, that was the issue with wise/keegan MA was stupid enough to listen to wise rather than keegan when the two disagreed That's the pivotal part of the role. It provides a recruitment structure that doesn't rely on the least tenable position at the club - team coach/manager. Every new manager has their own ideas so the squad needs another £30m+ rebuild after each change. Ashley doesn't like that level of uncertainty. If it was any other way they'd be appointing a new scout. Well that's the theory, it assumes that the DoF is making the right transfers, chances are that if a manager gets the boot then it's partly because he has the wrong players. Absolutley. In theory, it makes perfect business sense to have a DOF....which I guess is why Ashley is still convinced that's the way to go. The fact the system has failed at any English club that has tried to implement it seems not to have sunk in. -

If it was any other way they'd be appointing a new scout. Thats all fair enough, but it doesnt address the bottom line in the system....who has the final say in which players comes into the club? If it is to be Hughton, theres no need for a DoF. If not, he's going to feel undermined before he even thinks about which players he could bring in.....and it will be his head of the chopping block come December and we're possibly in the bottom 3, not the dear old DoF.Why should Hughton have to take the responsbility for someone else's picks? We're not Real Madrid, and look how well it works there...the thick part of 300mill last summer and they're going to win fuck all. It just doesnt work in the long run, especially in this country. I think it does address that. Like i said, I think they'd intend the DOF to have final say because theoretically it makes the club more stable. If that wasn't the case it would just be a scouting role. I completely agree with you on what will happen in practice though. -

No reason we should only look at people that are available though. We could look to bring someone in who's doing well elsewhere, not sitting on the scrap heaping waiting for a pay day. Whether Ashley will show that kind of drive is another matter. Looking through people that have (or had) the role at other clubs, it's difficult to find anyone that's managed it with any degree of success at any club other than David Dein.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Director_of_f...ors_of_Football -

Hopefully the first step in Llambias walking away altogether. -
You don't want to see them mate. I don't know if it was the club, coca-cola, the league, Adidas, Sky or any combination of them all, but the way all spontaneity and atmosphere was drained from the celebration for 20 minutes while everything got plastered in adverts was awful. Why can't they just hand the players the trophy and let the good times roll?
