  1. I don't see the problem with that to tell the truth. I've often heard incredulity expressed at it, but can't see why it's a bad thing to pay your bills up front and spread your income over a few years.

  3. I think he's been gash too, in comparison to Shearer, Martins, Bellamy or Viduka. ...but see no reason to rush out and spend inflated prices on any of the above (in my earlier post). Who as far as i can see are just as hit and miss. We're not going to be getting any World Cup starlets in. EDIT: His record is pretty much identical to Cole's. Been going ten years. Never more than 10 goals in a season. Just 38 goals in 185 appearances. EDIT2: And Zamora too. All his goals came at Brighton. He got just 3 in 35 appearances in 08/09. His 8 goals this year is his second best over any Premier League season. He got 11 once for West Ham.
  4. As capable as the likes of Cole, Jerome, Rodallega, Doyle, Dindane, Zamora and other bottom half top scorers we'll be competing with.
  5. That's only one of 3 companies the way I read it. Newcastle United - £20m overdraft outstanding (according to the club) Owned by... SJHoldings - £36m overdraft outstanding Owned by... MASHHoldings - No details available. So if we were to make £20m profit each season it would take 3 years to pay of the debt we know about, without Ashley taking anything out for himself. It would make more sense of the statement that way, but i might be way off. Isn't the SJH and NUFC overdraft the same? Not sure. I'm waiting for Quayside to respond. He says... Either way, there's a lot of debt there to be repaid before Ashley starts takling money out of the club or buying players.

I thought it wasn't, because the clubs recent statement said "United also has an overdraft of £20 million that is fully committed." That's £16m less than what the accounts from SJH say the overdraft is, or was in June 2009. They could be the same overdraft and £16m could have been paid off the using some of the £25m Ashley loaned the club since then.

  8. Quayside over on N-O is always good on the accounts. He's had a proper gander....
  9. That's the kind of harshness I mean. He scored 10 goals in 11 starts in the championship. 11 goals in 12 starts in all competitions. Fair enough, he did ok in the championship agaionst poor teams in a poor league. he's still shit and nowhere near a premiership striker I think everyone enjoys slating Ameobi. Every mistake he makes people get on his back. He's still a capable striker though...and would bloom without the constant negativity he suffers at St James. I think it's in all football fans' nature to see the bad side of players in their team to some degree though. For example... http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?...st&p=490960 £24m eh?
  10. I'm so proud. If we're using this thread to pre-empt, I'm going to see She's Out Of My League on Sunday. I'll post in the film thread once I've seen it.
  11. Yeah, can you see our club taking this approach? West Ham doing the opposite of what Ashley does. Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode called 'The Opposite' where George realises every single decision he makes is wrong so doing the opposite must be right.

  13. Harsh on Shola IYAM. Look at the top scorer charts for last year. Apart from Bent, no club in the bottom half has a player that scored more than 10. http://www.premierleague.com/page/Statisti...,,12306,00.html It's well within Shola's ability to score 10 if he plays more than 30 games. When did he last play 30 PL games though? It's rare that he's ever had a good run in the side without getting injured. At least in recent memory. Aye, not in 5 years. Poor lad.

  15. So an outlay of £14m, while not a guarantee, is a reasonable requirement if you want to stay up. However, that's just outlay, it doesn't show how much those teams made from sales, nor how many players were brought in. (I'm not dismissing your lovely graph, I'm just saying) Aye. But Ashley doesn't mind if we get relegated. His 5 year plan is to position the club such that relegation wouldn't mean we run at a loss. People seemed to take from the statement that he planned to stay up and break even. The latter part of that is the only one they stipulated though.
  16. I was taking the piss. Parky loves to wax lyrical about films he hasn't seen like. He does that in the normal thread anyway though.
  17. Exactly Khay. We blatantly need to replace miudfield dynamo Nicky Butt.
  18. That's only for films you've seen to be fair. Not sure that helps as a reason for starting a thread on it like.
  19. I totally agree like. I'm not chomping at the bit to see daft money spent at all.
  20. Should have got himself a 360 degree mirror and cheered up, the miserable fucker.
  21. Happy 'cos I've got tickets for Modest Mouse and Wilco.
  22. Clicky Thank you, sir. So combining the stats for Hughton and Hughton-Calderwood we have a record in the prem of 9GP 1W 2D 6L 5PTS ouch... 0.55points per game. Would have placed us above Portsmouth Keegan's record wasn't great in his second stint either though. 1.28 points per game. 48 over the season. Enough for 11th place like. Not that I think those numbers have any value. Like I said in the thread linked, "Was Brian Clough as bad as his 7 games at Leeds United suggest?" That's not to say a comparison isn't valid now like. Fair do's to compare them over a full season in the same league if you ask me.
  23. ...and another... http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20100517/nu...2240137_2054354 Wendy Taylor is now head of media. Comes from Newcastle Airport.
