I'd be surprised if he's still there in 2.

Have you read his article? It's about a book he's been involved in getting published...the life of a US soldier.....not his memoir. I was making a comment on the substance of the article. Can you follow Tellytubbies any better?
-
I've no problem with anything he says, but it's more about pushing his new book than discussing the content of the leak.
-
Hardly. Dipped his toe in the shallow end maybe.

I still dont understand your thrust here. The government and their independant advisors have models that predict a rise after a recession. Im sure they take into account lags etc and yet still believe their models to be right. Was it not the norm in the 80's and 90's to come out of recession, followed by private sector growth Are we getting hung up on headline figures of 19% cuts when in truth this is actually 4.9% cut for the first year and so on. It may be the economy does grow as expected or better and the whole thing gets even better. The bottom line however in all of this is that there is more than one train of thought out there and you know fine well that this is an argument that cant be won in advance. I think the point is "recessions are always followed by growth" is the kind of assumption which is more based on patchy history rather than any sound basis. You also have to consider the lack of bank lending as a huge obstacle to any growth. As we also keep saying the cuts will also lead to private job losses as those companies like EDS which service the public sector cut back. HP now. But aye....6000 jobs lost in the last 2 years.... http://news.crystalumbrella.com/archives/1...hewlett-packard

Wouldn't be the first time a footballer had been unfailry accused.....and having his car torched suggests there's a bit of a radgie vendetta.

aye were so unpredictable at the moment, literally cant predict any of those games even the Arsenal one with their knack of self destruction at times who knows. I predict Arsenal will defeat us. Really sticking your neck oot there like. My point exactly. According to TicTacWoe it's a lottery

Feel sorry for referees on the offside rule. FIFA have fucked that up so much with different interpretations every year or two which must piss off the refs as much as the players and the fans. There was nowt wrong with it as it was. It's been bastardised from a fair fight where defenders could have it down to an art-form to a complete lottery as to whether you risk a player not interfering with play later down the line. There's no skill left in defending as a unit when you have to be able to see into the future collectively in order to make a footballing decision. It amazes me every time another season rolls around without reverting back to the cut and dry rule it was in the past.....what can the people in the game possibly want it left like this for? Perhaps it makes it easier to throw games

Saw the interview on SSN. Saying goalmouth cameras would lead to offside cameras and corner cameras and throw in cameras is a bollocks argument if you ask me.....and i don't even want the technology brought in. There's no reason each manager shouldn't get (say) 3 contentions a game where he can go to the footage and ask the referee to reconsider. Some honesty from the referees when they'd fucked up and reviewed the situation would lead to a lot more respect for them. ....but as i say, leave it as it is. Fucking hilarious when a ball goes fully over the line and a goal isn't given, or a Frenchman taps it in with his hand and stuff like that. You'd put Jamie Redknapp out of a job if he couldn't watch some footage and tell you what you've seen.

It's a very good primer on the whole thing and what can so easily happen to almost anybody in the wrong place at th wrong time. No smoke without fire [/Leazes] -

Yeah, that's why I said i like him so much. It's fair to scrutinize anyone and everyone. I've posted one out of Cole's 10 most recent stories on his front page....every one of them could have fitted in a topic on the first couple of pages here, so I hardly "relentlessly post every blog entry he produces". There's not really that much controversial about him though. 2 or 3 questionable statements in 10 years or so. Feel free to criticise any of his Wikileaks coverage too.

I'm as much a fan of Hitchens and have always been quick to post his articles. He doesn't tend to write so much on the topic unfortunately. One of the few war advocates that could/would give an intelligent argument in support.

There was a gay couple at our table at a do last night and another lad never stopped asking them about their sex life in the crudest terms. He then had the audacity to claim he's ok with the gays as long as they don't rub his nose in it

It is definitely a concern. It's a shame US intelligence refuse to give any assistance to Wikileaks in protecting the identities of those that need it as they've been asked.

ok I'd recommend Dispatches tomorrow night anyway.
