Thunderdome: Spongebob vs Skidmark

We need more posters, not less. -
In hindsight was relegation good for the club?
Happy Face replied to Dr Gloom's topic in Newcastle Forum
We've currently got the same owner and the same squad as we would have had we stayed up if you ask me and we're not realisticly going to maintain this position. The one difference i think is Shearer might have kept his job, but even that''s debateable. Relegation was nowhere near as good for the club as losing the 1990 play-off was. That led to change from top to bottom that took us into the champions league, when we could have floundered for decades like the Mackems. Cue Leazes.... -
Film/moving picture show you most recently watched
Happy Face replied to Jimbo's topic in General Chat
At his worst imo. Can't get the insurance on US films to do the stunt work you see in his Hong Kong films. If the only other JC film you've seen is Around the World in 80 Days, it's a valid comment. -
Funny reading John Peel saying the same thing 40 years ago in the Olivetti chronicles. Lamenting the fact that the charts are full of Carpenters, Osmonds, Suzy Quatro etc. while The Pink Floyd and Captain Beefheart barely reach the top 40. Funny how middle aged men get angry about young girls buying more singles than they do.

You seem to be under the mistaken impression torture works.....and that our enemies should be encouraged to torture anyone of our soldiers they detain. oh torture works alright. Beheading doesn't though. Have you lectured your friends on the horrors of beheading yet ... Not like you to avoid the subject Leazes. Might as well say the taliban should be encouraged to torture whoever they want because the US apply thousands of volts to the head of mentally handicapped people in order to kill them.....which they do. I agree with neither tangent.
-
There was no authorisation to torture any individual. It was a programme of torture instituted across the board. The argument that it was only used to glean specific information is bogus.

I don't like the way the sub-title is stated as fact btw

Bit of torture never did me any hard. When I were a lad.......... Seriously and I know its unpopular with the chattering classes, but I have no problem with a bit of torture if they think it may help. Its gone on since the beginning of time and always will. There will probably never be any definitive guide to torture success's on the internet for Happy to get facts etc but I have no doubt that torture probably does work, hence why it has and always will be used. There are several guides to torture. The US government have invested a great deal over decades investigating methods and effectiveness. They can mentally break down an individual to a complete shell so of course it "works" in those terms...the problem is it's impossible to know if they're telling you facts. Here's an extract to that effect.... http://www.salon.com/news/politics/war_roo...04/24/jpra_memo

Double shift at the golden arches. Are you in the pub before Fulham Kev? The drinks are on you.

Must be some kidnap compare the market website I mean anyone that comes out of Guantanamo tells tales of beatings, sleep deprivation, rape, water-boarding and other torture. A google search for "kidnap victim interview al qaeda" gives this as the first result I looked at... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/...eda-kidnap.html "They had no change of clothes, no access to radio or newspapers, and Gabriella, a smoker, was not even allowed cigarettes. " Not quite on the same scale is it? Probably did her good to get off the tabs for a bit

   Well the dead ones can't really comment on how they were treated can they?

You seem to be under the mistaken impression torture works.....and that our enemies should be encouraged to torture anyone of our soldiers they detain. I think the assumption is that they wouldn't hesitate tbh and I don't imagine that's a particularly wild view either. In response to that point alone btw. I'm not advocating torture, just trying to balance out the point you're making. Our enemies change though. Currently it's a rag-tag bunch of stateless outlaws and vagrants not held to account by the Geneva convention....but in a few years it could be Korea, Iran or China....who will justify torture in similar terms. Having said that, reports of treatment from people kidnapped has tended to be rather good from what I've read....the ones that have been killed might not agree like.

I'd have him back in a shot......offer him 2k a week less than he was on when we sold him What was he on like? Is it known? I assumed it could only have been a couple of grand a week.

HONK! You lose at football fan. Please try again. Royksopp fan? Not sure Given would want to play for a top ten team in the Norweigen for apple though.

Just a spratty. I'm going to wait for a bigger bite

It's marvellous to look at the players who jumped ship like Doing shite.... Viduka - finished Owen - finished Martins - finished Beye - finished Given - finished Geremi - finished Cacapa - finished Bassong - played 2.5 games this season Duff - played 5 games this season Zoggy - in a relegation scrap doing ok Milner

If only Bush had actually written it. Sad state of affairs like, most ex-presidents are intelligent enough to commit their own thoughts to paper.

Aye, Phil Cool.

Accepting the first offer from Mike is like paying a street vendor the asking price in Turkey. They'd both be stunned if you let them rape you like that. There's cleaners in Sports Direct who tell Mike to fuck off the first 3 or 4 times when it comes to negotiating salary. I was amazed Carroll's deal seemed to be done and dusted so quickly.

And Maradonna didn't handle the ball in '86, it was an "enhanced goalscoring technique".

If promoted who are we replacing Hughton with?
Happy Face replied to Park Life's topic in Newcastle Forum
Nice to see Hughton has all you naysayers eating your words. -
I'd love to see some of you on telly

Exactly the same as me. Never given a second thought to what I eat or drink previously. Now i'm in my thirties though the beer gut is starting to hang over my undercrackers so I need to sort that out. Won't go to the gym like....I walk most places as it is and i've halved what I drink over the last year or so which has had other positive effects. My GP said my blood pressure was back to normal last week.....bint had never mentioned it was high in the first place.
