Would make a canny chant at the match.... Good morning! We're the Magpies! How are we today? Ashley's stolen, all my magic and took my club away.

http://travel.aol.com/travel-guide/austral...-detail-160254/ Is all I can say. Wish it hadn't have happened though. I predict the sun will come out tomorrow. What's the odds of someone predicting an earthquake? In the right place? depends on the frequency and magnitude for that place. Anywhere in the world? Odds on. China, Chile and Indonesia in addition to Haiti last year Italy and Sumatra in 2009 China and Pakistan in 2008 Peru in 2007 This is New Zealand Sorry to be so dismissive. Try the bookies next time

Apart from one or two tracks I find Pop pretty much unlistenable as a U2 fan but at the same time you can't exactly say it showed no change of direction from their early stuff. I think it was you who also said Kid A sounded like the future of rock - I may have a narrow definition which I fully admit to but I don't see how any album with virtually no guitar on it can be described as rock of any kind. kid a has optimistic and the national anthem on to name 2. They rock the house down.

Radiohead... On my third listen now and I do like the album. But nothing has surprised me...apart from how much certain songs call back to previous albums. Perhaps they only needed to push boundaries so far to find their niche and they're happy with it. But aye, they are probably the band with the more respectable longevity than any other. What were other stadium bands doing 18 years after their debut.... The Stones - Undercover U2 - Pop Genesis - Invisible Touch Pink Floyd - The Final Cut The Who - It's Hard

Aye....if you liked Cosmogramma

Maybe I expect too much. They've been going almost 3 times as long as The Beatles now. The creative edge has to be dulled after 18 years. No band has still been producing the goods after that long have they?

What was good about OK Computer was how it sounded like nothing they'd done before and like the future of rock. What was good about Kid A was how it sounded like nothing they'd done before and like the future of rock. What was good about Amnesiac was it followed so soon on the heels of Kid A and was more of that great new sound. What was good about Hail To The Theif was it followed relatively soon on the heels of Amnesiac and they sounded confident as fuck as the only people doing this stuff and that they were enjoying it. What concerned me about In Rainbows is that they took 4 years to get it out there and it was still more of the same, they hadn't used the time for another change in direction, they'd just about managed another one. It never grabbed me like the previous 4. And again with King of Limbs. I'm four tracks in and 4 years after the last album anything on here so far wouldn't have been out of place on In Rainbows. It's their shortest album ever by all accounts and they don't sound to be excited by the possiblities of what they're doing. Just switch the drum machine to another wierd beat and repeat to fade. Time for a reggae album.

Duplicity Juliet Roberts and Clive Owen are spies who fall for each other but trust no-one. It's a modern spy story where pizza base ingredients are multi billion dollar secrets and huge investment in corporate espionage is rife...it could have been interesting and funny to ramp up the tension over mundane products, but it failed. Why spend 20 minutes looking for a non-secure photocopier...then complain about it...when your own mobile has a camera on it? You're supposed to be a clever spy. Why announce your stolen breakthrough before doing even the must rudimentary checks on it? Especially when the people the spies were selling the secret to knew just by looking at the formula that it was bullshit. A leave your brain at the door film is all well and good, but only if it doesn't then try to bamboozle you with the complexity of it all with several flash forwards and backwards and double/triple crossing backstabbers working all sides. In the end this was all bluff for a film that doesn't hold water at all. -

True Grit The original John Wayne, Robert Duvall (and Dennis Hopper version). Much lighter than the Coen's version with a far less cranky, less convincingly alcoholic Rooster. Not as funny in comparison and the ending is horribly saccharine. Not sure how it goes in the book, but I assume it's the Coen way. Enjoyed it though. -
Sidney Sampson - Riverside Harry Hill is great.

Bit harsh really. To get any kind of voice within the Club, the first step must be to establish contact. Regardless of whether he's been given a stock response, he's got a contact. Given the utter failure of NUST, I can only wish this bloke well and see how things develop. not really tbh, was there anything there you didn't already know? Not knocking the guy for having a go or getting someone to talk to like, but if he/anyone thinks he's going to get anything other than the normal pr spin that we normally get through other outlets you're mad. edit> and it gives the club a nice friendly glow that they've allowed a fan to ask questions and get answers that they'd have trotted out at some stage anyway. The club have said the media misrepresent them. If anything this confirms the reports we get in the press that the club later deny. Not saying they'll stick to a word of it. But direct communication removes that excuse for them.

I'm with Gemmill on the zoggy bids. Pizza and stella in the office, pissed and celebrating the £35m he decided to wind up his old mate Whelan.
