Pardew on Ashley, Finances and Future
Happy Face replied to Christmas Tree 's topic in Newcastle Forum
From Sky Clear as mud. Past tense. You've lifted that quote directly from a statement where he was explaining that he would no longer be bankrolling the club, if I'm not mistaken? Because he claimed to be selling it. If he's not selling, why's he not bankrolling like he seemed to realise was required to build anything 3 years ago in the same position? Who knows, because he wants to it be self sustainable perhaps. But what is clear is that he doesn't want to bankroll it, and not "clear as mud" Except for the fact he IS bankrolling it, the most recent accounts showed we're insolvent and he's not managed to break even once. He said he plans to in 5 years time. Perhaps he's fast-tracked that and the next set of books will be rosy...doubt it though. Yes, but he doesn't WANT to Which ISN'T what Pardoo said. :( -

Because he claimed to be selling it. If he's not selling, why's he not bankrolling like he seemed to realise was required to build anything 3 years ago in the same position? Why assume his strategy has not changed? He has changed his mind about 5 times since he took over, dont know why anyone expects coherence or consistency (although it would be nice). Hence...clear as mud. Have you seen my sig? Highlighting the inconsistency is what I do. -

Nothing negative whatsoever in this. Good news for the player and the club. What disgusts me is shite like Bremner has written in the sun about a statement of intent. Utter horseshit. A statement of intent would have been offering Carroll this contract, or telling the player and Liverpool to fuck off, or using the money to steal Suarez....or match Anelka's wage. The only statement of intent Ashley has given is to break even. Contracts are not there to tie a player to a club, they're there to protect the incomes of the club and the player until both parties are happy with another deal being offered...whether it's in 4 months (like Carroll) or 4 years.

Can't see why anyone shouldn't say rapist.s are a disgrace...though this wasn't rape. . These christian gang rapists are animals too... http://www.thedailystar.net/newDesign/news....php?nid=175538 That's not to say all christians are, or that the austrian problem of locking daughters in the cellar and raping them repeatedly for 30 years makes all austrians animals.

I've been introduced to nearly all of them by xfm. Shame its DAB only and not available all over the country (well, it is on t'interweb of course). Very good for newish / breaking indie bands. Heard something else catchy on there yesterday, Dinosaur someone they were called. Jr? No, Dinosaur Pile-Up it was, think they're from Leeds. Did wonder about "newish" but thought Dinosaur Jr qualified. Showing my age.

If i had to choose 5 from the illustrious number I'd go with.... Malcolm McDonald Barbour - The Barbour name is known world-wide for high quality waterproof and outdoor clothes, and it was Malcom Barbour's father, John Barbour, who established the business in South Shields in 1894. Malcolm went into his father's business when he left school in 1897 and inherited the company on his father's death in 1918 Jared Deacon - An international athlete of some renown. Once part of South Shields Harriers, he moved to Morpeth Harriers. As a member of Morpeth Harriers he was part of the British Olympic 4x400m team in Sydney, 2000. In 2002, as part of the 4x400m relay team, he won gold medals at the European Championships and Commonwealth Games. He just missed a place on the 2004 Olympics team, but continues to achieve good times as a 400m runner. He was in my brothers year. James Mitchell - Writer/Creator of TV shows Callan and When the Boat Comes In. Sir Robert Wilson - Astronomer. The first non-American to receive the Presidential Award for Design Excellence (from President Reagan). He was awarded his CBE in 1978, and kinghthood in 1989 for his services to astronomy. Among his notable activities, he was involved in the design and operation of the Ultra-Violet Explorer satellite, which led to major discoveries in the field of cosmology, and which continued to operate some 17 years after its designed life. "Geordie" Joe Mcelderry The winner of X-factor. He starred in a school production of Grease and never looked back. and a footballer... Nick Pickering - Pickering joined Sunderland Football Club in 1977 as a "schoolboy associate". Four years later he signed a professional contract with the Club where he made his first-team debut against Ipswich in August, 1981. While with the club he earned a total of 15 England Youth under-21 caps, and then in 1983 he picked up a cap with the England team during their tour of Australia. In 1985 he played at Wembley in the Milk Cup Final, where Sunderland lost 1-0 to Norwich. He then transferred to Coventry City, playing his his debut match in 1986 and in 1987 was on the Wembley turf again with Coventry as they won the FA Cup. Things went downhill for Pickering after this. He transferred to Derby County, where he played only four games for them and acquired the nickname "psycho". Then he signed for Darlington followed by Burnley, after which he had to retired from the game after seriously injuring his foot. These days he is part of the sports team for BBC Local Radio in the North-East. There's a lad I played football with at school called Keith Oliver who played a few seasons for Hartlepool (or was it Darlington).

When? not new, just didn't think many people had heard of them Ah, ok. The Woods is supposed to be a departure but it's one of my all-time favourite albums.
-
When? Hope your source is more solid than...In an interview from March 17, 2010, Carrie Brownstein claimed that Sleater-Kinney may reunite and release an album "sometime in the next five years." I've been waiting for an Avalanches follow up almost a decade on that kind of promise.

Strokes seen them 5 times, just brilliant one of my favourite festival memories below, I was right at the front, World Cup final day, I'd literally (well 10mins previous) just told the current girlfriend to "jog on" after annoying me so far that weekend and abandoned her at zero7 to go watch the strokes. they had to stop towards the end of the set while the penalty shoot-out got put on the big screens around the stage, stayed on stage watched them etc finished the set wandered off. Nevermind instantly wining over a football mad irish crowd with a flag and playing olé olé olé olé Saw them when they broke and they had to get moved from one of the tents to the main stage at Leeds. Then again a year or two later when they headlined Leeds in torrential rain when Casablancas had a broken ankle and performed the whole set on a stool. The latter was a horrible disappointment compared to the former. I stood on me todd like a drowned rat because no-one else liked them enough to put up with those conditions. I'd fuck them right off and head for a tent in the same circumstances now. Hope the new one can change that view.

I enjoyed the Radiohead thread. Seems like ages since there's been an 'event' release like that which a few people post about. New albums due from Foo Fighters (Wasting Light) and The Strokes (Angles)...so hopefully a bit more of those kinds of threads soon. Also keenly awaiting imminent releases from Six Organs of Admittance, The Dodo's, Panda Bear and Gil Sott Heron.
