  1. To do that you need to hold onto the youth you develop really. Arsenal team from the Bolton game... 53 Szczesny - Youth 03 Sagna - £9m 06 Koscielny - £8.5m 20 Djourou - youth 22 Clichy - youth 04 Fabregas - youth 08 Nasri - £12m 14 Walcott - youth (Arshavin - £15m) 17 A Song - £1m (Chamakh - Free) 19 Wilshere - Youth (Ramsey - youth) 10 Van Persie - £3m Loads of youth, £50m worth of signings. Newcastle team from Blackpool... 26 Krul - youth/Free 02 Coloccini - £10m 03 Jose Enrique - £5m 06 Williamson - £1m 12 Simpson - £1m 04 Nolan - £4m (Perch £1m) 07 Barton - £5.8m 18 Gutierrez - £5.2m 24 Tiote - £2.5m 11 Lovenkrands - Free (Ireland Loan) 23 Ameobi - Youth (Kuqi - Free) £35.5m to build that team, and hardly any youth.....it could have included Carroll and Bassong. Amazing to think there's only £15m difference in outlay between our two teams. Very interesting. And a little depressing. I'm not sure there's any youth in our Blackpool team we'd care that much about selling.......Krul is a work in progress and Shola is, well, Shola. Carroll was the jewel in the crown really. Walcott wasnt youth. He was signed for about £6m - rising to £12m. Well corrected sir. So they've spent twice as much on their team full of youth, than we've spent on ours with no youth whatsoever? Someone tell Mike.

  5. Did you see that Obama has announced Manning is guilty before a trial has begun? Oh dear! off with his head [unless someone tells him he's a naughty boy first and he sees sense] Unfortunately, it'll have to be his head. Obama refuses to admit his mistake and is floundering with excuses. The White House insist he was talking generally about the crimes Manning is accused of as being against the law....which of course he wasn't....as that wouldn't be any excuse for the punishment he's received. The quote is "He broke the law." Richard Nixon initially tried the same sort of excuses when he announced Charles Manson's guilt, but the question being asked is why no-one in the White House will advise the President to retract his statement, or why he won't do it himself...like Nixon eventually did.... http://my.firedoglake.com/teddysanfran/201...-john-mitchell/ Perhaps he will later.

  9. "those are the facts" What a stupid thing to say when every preceding point is debatable.
  10. A year ago I'd have said Barton should take a drop, but as one of our top performers this season he's probably on what he should be. Fair do's to him taking a drop. Having said that, I reckon if he COULD get the same money elsewhere he'd go for it. Enrique can probably get more elsewhere.
  11. Wayne Rooney. Stevie's been giving him shit already.
  12. Forcefully rub freedom in their noses man. They'll sharp learn to conform. actually HF, looking at your photo again...aye I know What marks them out as being terrorists exactly, rather than the balaclava ? The guns don't suggest the head warming properties of the balaclava is the main draw for them. Also, it was a Google images search for "ira".

  14. Be interesting to see the fans reaction to him. I wouldn't Owen him or owt, but I'd give him some stick.
  15. Story of our season. Every good performance is followed. BY a fucking shit one
  16. Christianity has been to fish sales on a Friday what Orange is for cinema going on a Wednesday. Them 12 "disciples" should be on the wall of EVERY advertising agency in the world.
  17. A knaa. And Balaclavas too. I was just doing a bit of fishing. I'd walk around in my fencing mask all the time if I lived in France. And if I saw a muslim woman I'd get right in their face witrh it. Their exposed, unholy, blasphemous face.
  18. no, keep the balaclava Good, honest, BRITISH terrorists. They don't wanna be British! But they are, and as a result can't help but hold the same British values we hold dear.
  19. He didnt 'show loyalty' to Hughton or 'give him another chance'. He simply left Hughton in charge to hold the fort while he was trying to sell the club, which is why he didnt appoint a manager. In the mean time Hughton started doing well and I suspect Ashley then had a re-think and realised he didnt need to sell as a return to the Premiership and Sky money looked a strong possiblity early on. He struck lucky that the temporary man in charge until he found a buyer actually turned out to be a good manager, nothing to do with judgement or loyalty. Nail on the head. I agree it was nowt to do with loyalty or judgement, but it wasn't temporary while selling the club either. It was just the cheapest option. Shearer would have demanded much more. It's the same reason Hughton got sacked when we approached the end of his contract. The same reason Barton won't sign another contract, or Enrique. The same reason the escalators are turned off and sports direct are the only sponsor we have in the stadium. A cheap, tacky place, like his shops.
  20. Don't stop there. Ban the paranja, the niqab, the yashmak and the balaclava too.
  21. West Ham midfielder Scott Parker has been voted 2011 Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers' Association. Parker, 30 topped the poll of journalists ahead of Tottenham winger Gareth Bale, who was last week named the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year.
  22. What sort of data does your phone log to a file…and why? That’s the most annoying mystery of these superphones that we carry everywhere. It’s a master key to pretty much everything we’ve got going on in our lives: where we’ve been, the people with whom we associate, what we say, and all of the things we’ve seen that we considered worth snapshotting. The phone maker should be both completely open about the data the device collects and should act as though disastrous things would happen if that data were ever to fall into the wrong hands. Because they would. The worst-case scenario of a lost or stolen or otherwise compromised phone is pretty goddamned bad. So imagine my disappointment when I visited this page (thoughtfully forwarded to me by Dave Bittner). Developers Alasdair Allan and Pete Warden, while working on some mobile data-visualization tools, poked around inside their iPhones and found an SQL database containing a detailed log of the phone’s locations over the past several months. To demonstrate the problem, they wrote a little app that will pull up this file from your desktop iPhone backup, analyze it, and “replay” your movements over time on a map. read more
  23. A 3D erotic comedy has taken the Hong Kong box office by storm, beating the first-day record set by Hollywood blockbuster Avatar. Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy took HK$2.78m (£219,000) on its first day last week, compared to James Cameron's epic which earned HK$2.63m (£207,000). The film has now taken HK$17m (£1.34m) in the five days since its release. Takings have been boosted by an influx of viewers travelling from mainland China where it is not being screened. Sex and Zen -a remake of a 1991 Hong Kong movie by the same name -tells the story of a sexually frustrated scholar in ancient China who loses himself in the harem of a duke he befriends. The Cantonese production features Japanese porn stars Hara Saori and Suo Yukiko and Hong Kong actress Vonnie Liu. In Taiwan, the film also earned TWD$17m (£360,000) in its opening weekend -the best for a Chinese-language movie in Taiwan this year, producer Stephen Shiu said. As China does not have a film ratings system -enabling movie-goers of any age to see any film -it bans erotic content in cinemas. It is not the first time mainland viewers have travelled to Hong Kong to evade censorship by Chinese authorities. Many crossed over to watch the uncut version of Oscar-winning Taiwanese director Ang Lee's sexually explicit 2007 spy thriller Lust, Caution http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-13140810
  24. If you're going to spend a fair amount you might as well get HD. The problems with it are less problematic all the time. I got mine a few years ago and it was a right carry on. Top quality footage takes up a lot of space and needs a good bit of kit to edit. I had neither and ended up converting a lot of .mt2s to MPEG/AVI/WMV to manipulate it, which defeats the object. Now you can get a 1TB drive for under £50 though and most PCs can cope with the larger files there's no reason not to go for HD. I've been away for 3 week holidays and not needed any extra storage than the 40GB in my camera. As long as you regularly transfer stuff to your PC it's not a problem. Can't edit HD in Windows Movie Maker though. Like Johnny I use Vegas. Best bet when choosing a model is to lisen to the experts.... http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/browse/rating/camcorders/n-6jc/ Panasonic HDC-HS700 seems to be the daddy nowadays.
