  1. "Am here till it expires or am given a free transfer...." " I wouldn't give u or them the satisfaction. (of being sold)...."
  2. Bartons tweeted that he wouldn't go for a fee, but was willing to see out his contract or go for free now.
  3. Because it will cost 100k per game if he stays one more year even if he's fit the whole time. Aye but they've got a contract to pay up. Given Barton's opinions of late, I doubt very much he'll agree to whistle to Ashley's tune. If he's accepted anything less than what he was entitled to the difference would be minimal - and then you've got to consider we'd have been better off getting some use out of him. McKay's comments about him being pissed off about not taking corners and free-kicks is nothing more than a smoke-screen IMO. No player in pre-season is going to flounce to that level on something like that. The club won't pay up his entire contract if he goes on a free transfer. Are you absolutely certain about that? We did it with Marcelino. Pretty certain. It's the only logical reason. And as stupid as some of the footballing decisions have been EVERY personell change Ashley has made had a logical cost saving in the short term.

  6. Barton has made it clear he would not be sold at any price. He wanted to see out his contract or go for nothing. I believe it was a matter of principal following the manner of Carroll's departure, whereby they pushed him into the corner of a transfer request (which I think he was a twat for submitting). The club therefore had a player who they would be forced to spend another £3m in wages on and who guaranteed a zero return. As with EVERY decision made at the club, this one was made to save money. Ashley's view is £3m is worth more than 30 odd appearances over the season from JB. It is the same logic for sacking Hughton. Why give him a better contract when you can pay another monkey peanuts.
  7. Yeah, I just wonder if those 2 don't have the english to take their beef to Twitter.
  8. I don't. Ashley has shown us all over the last few years that he can be a spiteful prick - fans abuse him, well fuck them he'll change the name of their stadium, etc. He's not above doing something like this just to show everyone who the gaffer is. That’s my point. He’s not showing everyone who the gaffer is. Barton’s done very nicely out of all this and any other player keen for a move may well now see ranting on twitter as the way forward. Which was the worst, rant fuelled tweet? The one that made his staying impossible for the owner?
  9. The 2010/2011 best 11.... Harper - Named in the reserves for Tuesday, on the brink Enrique - sold Coloccini Williamson Simpson - making noises on twitter Nolan - sold Tiote Barton - sold Guttierez Ameobi Caroll - sold Of those that haven't gone already or aren't publicly touting a move just yet, Tiote and Coloccini are the only ones to have any confidence in. It's gonna be a disaster.
  10. Mackem tickets on sale tomorrow. Boycott indeed
  11. I havent spouted nowt you thick tit, Ive simply pointed out what Joey Bartons agent has just said on the radio. Did you enjoy the camping pal? Excellent thank you..... left you a little recommendation in appropriate thread and off to visit the Beamish one this week (for a looksy) Champion. You should go early...and stay long.

  13. Sorry I posted before catching up on the other threads where people have already pointed out what an uber twat the man is.
  14. Made the mistake of listening to Talksport for the drive home...when there's a big story like this happening, needs must. Christ almighty it's effective. Never raged at the radio so much in my life, I was reaching for the phone but had to calm down and remind myself Darren 'fucking' Gough is about as clued up on Newcastle United as he is on pie avoidance. He makes CT look like Stevie. Ashley's got the club totally out of debt apparently. He knows more than the players about how football works says Goughie, steadying the ship, reducing the outrageous wage bill he inherited, making the required sacrifices for long term stability. A club like us has no right to push on for the top 6. I need a drink.
  15. Why wait a year for a big money move when you can go all native on twitter and bank the big bucks now. #Footballersarenearlyallselfinterestedgreedywankers My assumption is this will save Ashley the £2.5m salary and whatever loyalty bonus he's due....hardly a money hungry move from JB. We'll have to pay him his wages to cancel the contact, . So we save nothing there. You think the club have gone in and said "we'll pay up all we owe you if you go"? I reckon it's more a case of "you don't like us, we don't like you, we'll not demand a fee for you if you don't demand your contract to be honoured." Everyone's happy....except the fans.

  17. I don't think anyone can doubt he's getting it right, the question is at what cost. There's only a few teams that are able to make money in the Premier league. Those that reach the Champions League...and West Brom. They take relegation as an acceptable hazard of not spending beyond their means. They invest only in promotion, not necessarily in survival. They can survive on parachute payments and the take it as a bonus when they survive. That's a far cheaper, less risky approach to getting a club stable. It's not an approach ANY fan should be happy with though. Let alone fans of a club that were in the Champions league very recently. It's also not an approach Ashley has EVER owned up to. Preferring to peddle the lie that we could break into the top ten with zero (or negative) investment.
  18. Little unfair, I honestly don't think Mort knew the full horror of it and when he did he scarpared. He just wasn't as slimy. They've all done exactly as they're told....apart from Keegan. Even Shearer and Hughton and players that have left aren't keen to piss on their chips. They'd say it's being professional, but it's all material for that next biography. Keegan is one bloke who wears his heart on his sleeve and tells it like it is, even if it puts other chairmen off him. Nolan's 'blast' at the weekend was a back handed compliment really. He went on about how happy he was, the good relationship he had with the heirarchy and how keen he was to stay. Hardly damning. Perhaps when Barton's gone we'll get a better insight into the changing room over the last couple of years.
  19. Stop being so negative. The NEXT window will be mint now we have all this money to spend.
  20. I'm sure the club have been talking to anyone that will listen about any player they're interested in.
  21. That'll be all the top signings we've made in June/July. Lifted expectations.
  22. I just don't think we were paying too much attention to it in the first 12 months....or we had no reason to doubt their honesty. They were telling lies about due dilligence ("we did it"/"we didn't"), Keegan having control/Wise working under Keegan, investments in the squad of £10m - £20m a season. Mort himself said Allardyce would get "Big Money" in the January...but then they sacked him and gave Keegan nowt. Things have been rotten from day 1.
  23. Updated. Sorry for letting it slide. Post in here if I've missed any outlandish claims people are making in other threads...then I'll pick them up.
