  1. Really hope we can pull this one off. Need cover for smith and Telly Savalas would be perfect for coming on and doing nothing but picking up a yellow.
  2. http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/201...lamophobia.html Odd that a report on how one entire religious group is demonised for the actions of a few manages to spread the blame so much for that Christian nutter. Interesting read nevertheless.
  3. Exactly. Very disappointed Joey has gone. In fact, no, scratch that. I'm fuckin fuming. Not at the player but at the fucking imbeciles who are trying (and failing big style) to run the club! Who's next? If we should believe Joey, everybody with ambitions is next. Yeah, he's shown ambition by joining QPR, ambition to fatten his wallet. Looked miserable as fuck on T.V., guess he's pissed the only side that came in for him are odds on for the drop He only knocked back a wage cut at Newcastle. How far should a player go to not be a greedy bastard? Play for free?
  4. 5 year deal on the table soon for Sammy i'd say.
  5. The offer from the club was the same money he was on but excluding his image rights. He was ready to accept it but on the day he was meant to sign, he asked for more. Yes the owner should have done something more constructive but you cant say the player isn't the one who decides. Since then relationships have soured and he has driven that, not the club. I don't for one minute think he wrote what he did on twitter to get his move to QPR so am happy to take what he has said at face value. Only by refusing to re-open contract discussions, was club the telling him to fuck off. Ideas of him being dumped in the reserves are a throwback to times when clubs weren't sued for constructive dismissal. He would have played if he had stayed, no one sits on £56k a week doing nowt if they can help it. His decision though; the club decided to withdraw the contract offer, he decided to leave. I didn't say the player isn't the one who decides. But the club have done all they can to help joey on his way, giving him a free while he's under contract and performing excellent.
  6. But every decision made is the right one financially speaking, in terms of actually saving money, irrespective of league performance. I realise you're taking the piss, but by this token they could have a fire sale and get rid of the entire first team. We'd have the lowest wages in the league! That would be extreme. Players under the wage cap....get a new contract in order to ensure a good price if anyone comes knocking. Anyone exeeding or asking to go above the cap....go the journey....for nowt if needs be. Not taking the piss...nor am I justifying it, but blatantly how it is.

  8. 2.5m is relatively little, but its all about spending the bare minimum or naximising value Hughton went rather than getting the extra million a year he deserved. Carroll got a long term contract to maximize sell on value. When he demanded top dollar, he went. Nolan would have no sell on value at the end of a renewal so he was sold. Enrique demanded top dollar, had to go. Barton had no resale value, so they're saving on wages instead. Football considerations don't come into it and trying to see any logic in it other than financial is a waste of time. To suggest any of these outcomes were out of the owners hands is too generous as well.
  9. Disagree. Joey was a first team regular and as such had worth, so the owner has lost an asset for nothing. IMO it was all a game of brinkmanship which the owner has lost. Ashley doesn't give a shit about the first team though. Leon best and shola ameobi still our best strikers.....no left back. 40 million up for the year. Barton ceased to be an asset when he said he categorically would not move if a fee was involved.
  10. The owner wins as he wants to cut costs. £2.5m saved on JB going.
  11. Michael Owen Think the Welsh prick fell over on his way to the post box so never got a reply. It was going to be the best thread ever too.

@davidjgwalker My favourite character in Poltergeist was the Golden Retriever. He didn't have a fucking clue what was going on.
  13. I like golf and snooker I do too. Well, I like the Majors, lesser tournaments (as with Tennis) and you can tell half the time the players just aren't arsed. I would apply a similar logic to snooker, i.e. I'd watch the world / UK championships. Aye. I should have caveated the word 'like' with the fact I've never paid to watch either live. By 'like' I mean if there's nowt else on, I'll watch it if there's nowt better to do....much like the darts. Cricket, Rugby, Tennis, the olympics...I'd just flicjk straight past them.
  14. They're taking care of you man JJ Divvent have it full whack with your earphones in....you'll lose a load of frequencies from your hearing. Get a proper pair of noise isolaters and use the recommended volume setting. [/granny talk]
  15. Was gonna say, why did Prince write a song about Sinerad O'Conner's mam?
  16. He's going to be filthy rich for the rest of his life. If you were offered £1m a year for sewing footballs in Cambodia 18 hours a day or £500k for playing football, what would you choose? That's the dilemma he has. Not quite sure the differences are that stark. Same money, longer contract, worse club, better employers. Exactly the same as Nolan's dilemma. Except he didn't harp on like an Emo kid all over twitter about it.
  17. If I could leave my current job for one where I was paid more I'd do it in a heartbeat. If my employer offered me LESS than I was currently on I think I'd go without even having another job lined up. Football is different, but talk of greed is daft when he's basically going to be on the same money. It's not like he's Eto'ing his salary here.
