  1. Nor has he come up against as many world class strikers so far this season.
  2. Can't see any mention of Cosmo Jarvis on the board. I loved "Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor" but generally been bored by The Arctic Monkeys since, he seems to be keeping that sound going...
  3. Show you're keen to learn by repeating every question you're asked emphasising the "YOU".
  4. Sounds like I'm getting a 15% pay hike back-dated to February, so quite happy.
  5. Sammy's made of crepe paper, pipe cleaners and iron filings.
  6. Bollocks that like. Tottenham aren't really a big club, and we're in the toughest economic times since the 80's in the poorest region in England, yet the cheapest ticket was £36! If it was 26 or 30 it'd sell out no bother. Not fussed about the old we're bigger than Spurs argument, fact is we've not broke 47k whether it's expensive tickets against Arsenal or Spurs, or cheap ones against Fulham or Blackburn. I'm sure Alex isn't the only one to have got sick of lining Ashley's pockets, whatever the financial climate. You know what I mean. I've repeatedly acknowledged he's not making a profit yet.

  8. And this is why we'll not collapse like Blackpool or Hull. We're not finishing 4th, but neither are we getting relegated. 75 % of the defence were here when we got relegated. Don't think Simpson is the difference. Hopefully the quality in front of them will stay fit/ban free. How many games will Tiote miss for the African nations?
  9. We took a fella to the game yesterday who hadn't been since '72. He only went then for a ruck as he's an old skinhead. He enjoyed it loads...more the drink before and after, but i think he was spoiled by one of the better games (or second halves) we've seen for a while. Think he'll be after a half season ticket 46k against Spurs when we're in 4th suggests that not as many people are as forgiving as us on Toontastic. Same against Blackburn and Arsenal, so it looks like we're struggling to attract more than the hardcore. 42k for Fulham mostly down to few travelling. .
  10. Argument to be made that Barton was filling in on the right as Routledge wasn't good enough...so Obertan is a replacement for Routledge...and about the same quality
  11. I'm one of the most anti-ashley people, but I hope it's always reasoned. It just comes across as rage when you complain irrespective of performance on the pitch. I agree with your view, Ashley gambled on not replacing Carroll at all in January, or properly in August....and it's worked, selling Given and Nzogbia 3 years back didn't. But then, every signing is a gamble. We gambled on Marcelino, Boumsong and Owen, and it was a lot more expensive gamble with the banks money rather than the clubs. You improve your odds a great deal when you spend top dollar on proven quality, this is why I fear it won't be sustained. The statement that we won't spend money on players past glory is one of the most ridiculous things i've heard, as if Madrid were robbed because Ronaldo was such a great player at Man U. It's exactly because of his past glory that he was in such demand and you have to pay what the market says a player is worth, or you're nowt more than a feeder club.

  13. If you want to be taken seriously when you criticise Ashley, then you have to give him credit for whatever is going well too. Otherwise you open yourself up to criticism as one of the daftees that wants £30m spent every window or else he's shit. There's only 5 players and a few back-room staff left from the year we got relegated (Smith don't count). All those appointments come from the top or from people appointed at the top. If it's working, it's ALL down to that.
  14. Loved watching saggy face throw a blop strop for the last 10 minutes mind. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/15329914.stm "50 odd fanatical Geordies"
  15. Pulled a wicked shot across the goal later on like. More of that would be ok.
  16. Hate to do a Leazes, but think it's a valid comparison that's not been made endlessly before, so... Shepherd was forgiven all of his sins as long as we were up there. But the terminal decline from the moment Souness was appointed meant the grumbling grew and grew. I never liked or respected the bloke when we were doing well, but I'm happy to put up with a slimy cunt of a man if the club is ran properly. I'm sure there'll be less complaining if Ashley is able to run a club sustaining this form, and I won't begrudge praising that success in the least if it happens, but there'll never be any respect for the man from me. He's an awful person and if we were to reach the champions league then those Sports Direct signs would be all the more embarrassing on an international scale.
  17. They're STILL bringing up that players were being paid for using installments when they arrived. It's coming up to five years ago. Let it go. We can ignore the failure to do due dilligence if you can.
  18. All credit to Pardew. I had a pop after the Wolves game, despite being over the moon with the result, that he was over cautious with the changes. Going behind in this one one, he had nowt to lose, and being at home, he's had to be more adventurous and push for a result, but he did well to make the changes he did. Taking BOTH strikers off wouldn't have been my move at the time, but it paid off. As much as it'll pain a lot of the haters to hear, Best and Ba could learn a thing or two about holding the ball up with back to goal from Ameobi....he learned from the best And Santon coming on was pleasing. Simpson needs a kick up the arse much more than Raylor does, so i was happy to see Santon used on the right rather than the left.
  19. Guti versus Obertan Free Kicks Won 4-1 Shots 3-1 On target 1-0 Passes 41-37 %Complete 72-73 Interceptions 5-2 Tackles 9-4 won 55-50 Clearances 2-1
  20. He looks like a first year who's been allowed to make up the numbers with the fifth years, walks around in a daze. If the ball isn't passed to heis feet he stands there looking at it wondering if he should go for it. If there's a fifty-fifty in the air or on the ground, he turns it into a hundred-zero, just stands off the opponent lets him take control and tries to cover the angles. I can't use the chalkboards on the guardian anymore but the comparison of his tackles, free-kicks won, passes attempted and completed must make poor reading compared with Guti....and I've never thought he was good enough (having his best season yet for us at the moment though).
