What you've done there is confuse a factual statement made without embellishment with negativity. If a fact reflects we aren't quite what people are dreaming about yet it's worth raising. If anything, you're the one looking to sway the facts by attacking the personality of the person stating them. If you're gonna be positive, that's fine, but do it by pointing out what warrants optimisim, of which there's a good deal.

I was under the impression half the time they spent at the club there were profits before the dividends were taken. Never quite the £25m profit in a single season Ashley managed last year.

He couldn't if he wanted to, only success breeds that kind of profit. etc. This thread is done for.

Lots of reasons for cautious optimism if it can be maintained. Still very cautious about how good we actually are given the fact i mentioned before that we're yet to beat beat anyone outside of the bottom 7. That said, we have a 100% record against everyone that's currently below where we finished last season, so even if we're not quite as good as our current position, we seem to have improved on last year...while we have a fully fit squad anyway. For the opening game of last season we had 8 of our squad out injured, 3 of which have started just about every game this season. As average as I think they are, without STaylor, Danny Simpson or Leon Best I'm not sure the squad would be coping as well.

Think the point against Arsenal at home last season was better, or even arguably getting a point off Chelsea the year we were relegated. Either way raising expectations off the back of single performances is as dangerous now as it would have been then.

Only one official prediction right so far... Christmas Tree 29/05/11 - Spurs are finished. They are on the way down with no CL money. They'll finish below us next season. 30/05/11 - Barton wont play for us again Barton played against Arsenal on the opening day. 04/07/11 - Joey Barton to be Captain Coloccini announced 08/07 04/07/11 - There will be lots of transfer activity this week. Nobody was signed. 17/08/11 - CT denies predicting the above. He predicts HF could prove him wrong. HF proved him wrong the same day

I swear, those are my last stats today btw. WORK!

Nor has he come up against as many world class strikers so far this season. Joe Hart / Man City league fixtures : Swansea Bolton Spurs Wigan Fulham Everton Blackburn Rovers Aston Villa Sorry. Than Better keepers below him I mean. Friedal for example. Played 4 out of 5 teams above him in the league. Krul ain't played any. So what you're saying is its all relative? Exactly. And Obertan looks relatively shit, whoever you compare him to. Craig Gardner? or Wayne Routledge? ...okay, hyperbole withdrawn.
-
A damning indictment of those stats right there. To be slightly serious though, it is. How could you say those two were better than Coloccini having watched our games? Taylor's a blocker and clearer, just a mass of bone and muscle to get between the ball and goal. Simpson's an angles man, like a moving cone, he just does what he can to give the opposing player the longest possible route to where he will get to eventually, unimpeded. Coloccini is an intelligent, confident tackler who'll take the ball from more attackers than those other 2 put together...the fact he tries this much more, means he fails more often too. Tackle success rates for Sunday Simpson 100% Taylor 66% Colo 50% No-one won the ball more than Colo though, or attempted more tackles.

No, it's the tackles map, not posession. And reflects that most of Spuds attack goes through Bale who played on their right. It's a good point and could contribute to the heavy bias, unfortunately, looking at where Spurs played the ball using their passing heat map shhows that only 20% went down their right while 24% went down the left. Not a great deal of difference, but if you're going to take anything from it, you'd have to say they recognised our weakness on the right and tried to expose it more during the game, despite having set up initially to try and expose Rtaylor with their best player on the right.. -

No, it's the tackles map, not posession. possession* I bet you've got a chart in the bathroom detailing time taken have a shite, moisture and length. No-one's tried arguing with me I take too long to produce dry, short shits, but if they do I'd look at the evidence for sure. -

All at the same time, his team mates are undefeated so if he's at least as good as the next shittest player and the overall team is unbeaten then relatively he can not logically be shit. Unless the premier league is shit. Worst logic ever. I'm pretty fucking shit, but I reckon Chelsea could carry me if they were playing Blackburn. Bollocks. We are carrying the entire right side of the team are we? The shit logic is all yours. Yes. Look at the heatmaps on Guardian. 16% of tackles on the right. 32% on the left. -

Thought you were comparing Obertan to his team mates rather than the opposition. -
It's worth keeping in mind we haven't beaten anyone outside of the bottom 7 this season. While team positive are all very excited about the potential and we're all over the moon with results so far, let's not start getting all Mackem about our European chances just yet.
