I dont understand them In games 1-6 we got 12 points In games 2-7 we got 14 points In games 6-11 we got 16 points In games 12-17 we got 2 points Charting those numbers shows our form as the season goes on. -
£10m was the first figure reported for Cisse, which was later dropped to £7.5m, potentially growing to higher amounts. I assume he has to play at least 1 game for that to happen. In addition to the journal, this was reported in the Telegraph... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/newcastle-united/9020957/Newcastle-close-to-signing-Papiss-Demba-Cisse-Demba-Bas-Senegal-strike-partner.html The Guardian http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/jan/18/newcastleunited-premierleague Chronicle http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/multimedia/newcastle-united/images/2012/01/18/nufc-sign-papiss-demba-cisse-72703-30148236/ The Mirror http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Newcastle-New-No-9-Papiss-Cisse-says-he-can-make-Demba-Ba-an-even-more-dangerous-striker-article855110.html and many others I'm not going to waste more time looking for. Show me something correcting these reports, to say it was a more expensive up front payment and I'll change it. People just spout numbers and provide no source as if I'm pulling them out of thin air. This is entirely imperfect and I'm sick of having the argument to tell the truth. Undisclosed fees are going to vary in reporting. Soccerbase says Ben Arfa was £2m and I've got his fee closer to £6m. My bias towards Ashley is clearly a disgrace there too.

So are you expecting a sudden drop in form by us or a sudden increase in form by someone else? Done a little chart of our form (points total from the previous 6) as it progressed through the season for you.... You're experiencing the high of that peak there, and getting a bit giddy. Remember the times at the bottom of that valley and proceed with caution. -

We'd have to get back to the form of the first 11 games. Can't see it. -
You do him a disservice. 2 goals and 2 assists in 287 minutes Better players are judged differently. which is only right, they need to live up to their ability. We've seen what he can do and we're hungry for more. On the other hand Obertan has shown all the ability of a toddler in the special school, so when he scores a goal 99% of other players could you have to pat him on the head and give him a rusk.

Demba Cisse will potentially be £9m, but for now, he's £7.5m.... http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2012/01/18/papiss-cisse-signs-for-newcastle-united-in-7-5m-deal-61634-30145038/ And Santon £5m comes from the BBC.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/14716581 Rather than bias, bollocks or hyperbole, sometimes it's just a best guess based on the sources available, more often than not actually, given our penchant for not disclosing fees.

They're 3rd in the away from league. Spiky.

....I also think it's quite likely btw, so wouldn't bet against it....if i did ever bet on Newcastle results.

Paddy power only does the next two games but I don't mind doing this, winnings to SBR? I don't do charity bets. I'm not a tv/radio celbridy trying to curry favour with the masses But i wasn't challenging you to a bet, or offering you those odds, just saying you should be clearing up at the bookies here. odds further into the future... http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league

A BOOK?! Namby pamby do gooder.

I have a boss whose eye is drawn by moving lights. The animated light sweep is annoying enough on the front page. Terrible to have it on every page. And why did we pay £9.5m for Robert if he was unknown?

Obertan: Earths' gravity is no match for him.
Happy Face replied to Park Life's topic in Newcastle Forum
Not what I was saying but in about 20 mins they've contributed far more than Shola and Sinead O'Connor did in the past 3 games. Best scored to win the points against QPR, and Shola's had 2 assists in 4 games. Not that I like either starting. -

I'd hate to see Lovenkrands and Obertan start like. -
How many points will we finish the season with?
Happy Face replied to Baggio's topic in Newcastle Forum
Didn't we have this discussion about a month ago where you didn't like people saying we had hard fixtures during November and December as the reason we didn't pick up many points? Yet you now point out that the 9 points out of 12 we've picked up in January have come against bottom 5 teams. I don't think so. I started a thread about our easy start 10 or so games in, and cautioned about geting too excited as November - January would see a drop off as we play the better teams and the squad depth starts to fail us (not particularly insightful). The drop off hasn't been anything like as bad as i feared though, and i go into the next 5 games against mostly top half opposition more optimistic than I went into that November run. But I still reckon the 13 points from 10 since (the turning point of our season when) Taylor was injured (or the 14 from 12 as mentioned above) is about indicactive of how the rest of the season will go, giving us mid-fities, rather than the 25 points from 11 we achieved at our peak over the start of the season to get us into the high 60's. -
Ben Arfa should try to be as good as Perch.

I don't put a negative spin on everything at all. Last night I was posting how mint it was that we'll be 4th on Sunday night when it's an impossibility. You can't get more blinkered and optimistic than that. 9 of the 12 points on your table came from the botttom 5 opposition. You can only win the games you're playing of course, but it is context to be wary of. The next 5 games will be tough. -
It's the stuff around the road that's good. It's hardly the a19 through Teeside.
-
The odds on your next 3 results are about 1, 0.5 and 0.6. A £10 accumulator will return you about £50 Money where your mouth is.
-
He was shite at Brighton, shite against Blackburn in the cup (goal aside), shite again last night. He was good against QPR and Fulham. He's about 50/50 on his performances.

The only coverage I've seen of last nights game was what Twat Face Thomson was saying on Sky News. By his account we were under the cosh for 86 minutes of the game and it was unbeleivable we'd got a point from the game, let alone 3. I realise he's a twat and talks shite, but without lady luck smiling on us last night it would have been 11 points from 12 games, not quite the 1 point per game we should be exceeding. As it is we did have the rub of the green this time, so it's 14 points from 12 and the above is bollocks but I reckon 54 points will be about the mark we'll hit. -
and if man u beat Chelsea, and we beat villa, we go 4th on Sunday. Very doable, mad and marvellous.
-
That's the gamble you have to take. Would Watford have accepted £3m or held out for more - they didn't seem particularly keen to sell anyway. Was he worth £3m anyway? The guy is a Championship defender in a team that aren't doing particularly well after all. Don't get me wrong, I'm disappointed as any that we didn't strengthen in defence but we could well finish 5th without him once the lads from the ACN come back - it's all relative. Aye, and it's nice to be gambling with our european potential rather than relegation. Just a shame, now the big 4 is the big 2 and the trailing 4, that we aren't pushing to joiin those trailing 4.
-
If the failure to land Mariappa for £3m rather than our final bid of £2.5m means we finish 9th rather than 5th, then it's a false economy.
