We should twitter bomb him, is that the phrase? Either way, everyone with a twitter account should bombard him with tweets at a pre-decided time asking for his sisters number and if he'll put in a good word for us.

With the poverty in Haiti it's amazing they're still as low as 71 in the world rankings

In the 'write a letter to a footballer' thread.... http://www.toontasti...age__hl__letter Disappointed that thread didn't take off more like. I reckon CT should pick it up, he'd love to write a letter to Shane.
-
Still no response to my letter, the little shit.

Absolutley. It's an institutional, organisational, cultural issue that needs reform and did so before as much as it does after. Which is why the squad/manager getting a load of stick is daft. Only Rooney and Young played below their standards.

Average Italy who had the lead against Spain (who everyone spunks over) and hat to be pegged back for a draw.

The recalibration of expectations of the press and Twitterati that allows people to complain, no matter what we do, is frustrating to watch. We exceeded expectations in the Euro's. We won the group people expected us to get knocked out of. We didn't lose a game. We had the third best goal difference across all of the groups. We have a very limited group of players at the moment, particularly missing players with any attacking flair. Going from moaning that we won't get out of the groups, and will be lucky to win a point, to moaning that we won't win the competition is progress Hodgson should be happy with.

Best England penalty like

Ajax style pristine training complexes and schools of excellence make for shit footballers. The FA need to introduce Wipeout style obstacles on hard concrete training pitches that have a bed of broken glass on them.

There's nee point in Newcastle playing in the league next year either but it's bettter to be there than not.
-
I think it's fair to say he's "supposedly the best English talent since Gazza" though. And to say Rooney has never come close to either.

I was reckless and deserved every punishment I received. Money comes and goes, it's not important to me. Losing the captaincy and missing... ...12 games, is what really hurts. I was stupid and that what happens when u do dumb things. I am confident ill bounce back. Cannot wait. That's all I have to say on the matter. I wish to put it behind me now and help QPR, once available of course, push on towards the top half. Have a good day people. Thanks for all the lovely tweets of support. Speak soon xx

At the moment, aye. But we're talking about the fundamentals a national FA has to get in place to give a national team the opportunity to succeed. A final or a semi-final or a quarter final can swing either way on a multitude of tiny things, but consistently getting to those position needs decades of doing things right to produce a conveyer belt of high calibre players. Spain are now reaping the reward of work they put in 10-15 years ago. Germany have been doing it for decades.
-
They've been mint...and they've been mint in almost every major tournament for decades. In the last 30 years, out of 8 world cups, they've reached the semi's 6 times, gone on to the final 4 and won it once. In 8 Euro's reached the semi's 4 times, gone on to the final 3 and won it once. We've got to one semi final in each.

The Deutscher Fußball-Bund is based in Frankfurt and is divided into five regional federations with 21 regional organizations. It is the single largest sports federation in the world.

Germany have mmore immigrants, more eu immigrants and more non-eu immigrants. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immigration_to_Germany#Comparison_with_other_countries_from_European_Union They seem to cope with the higher numbers ok. I think it's an FA thing really. The FA are separate to, and have different interests from the Premier League. As long as that's the situation the national team will suffer from a lack of joined up thinking on what the structure of the game should be from grass roots through to top flight. Which should all be focused on British and immigrant players with the potential to represent the national team.
-
As you say, the argument that immigrants = bad team is no good as Germany accept more immigrants than most. In its State of World Population 2006 report, the United Nations Population Fund lists Germany with hosting the third-highest percentage of the main international migrants worldwide, about 5% or 10 million of all 191 million migrants The type of immigrants is interseting, Gomez being of German/Spanish descent was bound to make him a genetic God of European football.

Cheers It's an interesting fact. Up 10% in the last ten years too. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgdO92JOXxAOdFZIUU1SODRaMXI5cFdvMkRIQm5Obmc#gid=0

Apparently not. In fact, because it looks at women only, it's a conservative figure for kids born with at least one foreign parent. When you factor in fathers, the national figure rises to 30%. That said, in the context of this thread, one foreign parent doesn't leave you ineligible to play for England.

It's ok, I found it. http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/rel/vsob1/parents--country-of-birth--england-and-wales/2010/births-in-england-and-wales-by-parents--country-of-birth--2010.html
