Started Justified last night. Just 1 episode in and as a stand alone episode it was mint. I hate episodioc crime drama though, every 60 minutes looking at another bad guy who inevitably gets caught and the world is well, Columbo, Murder She Wrote & The Mentalist style. Obviously better to watch the drawn out affairs like The Wire, Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire or Breaking bad. This looks like tending more to the episodic at the moment...given the bad guy got done at the end of the episode. Hope it stays away from that, the reviews of the latter series suggest it's well worth sticking with.

Slowly getting there with Octobers trip to the US. Sorted 3 nights in LA, drive up the coast to Pismo (where Donny loved to surf) for 1 night, Carmel for 1 night then 5 nights in San Francisco. 11 more days to sort. Thinking 5 in Yosemite and 5 in Las Vegas via Death Valley. Also considering making room for a drive out to the Grand Canyon and Monument valley. Would that be squeezing in too much?

Queen at the Beeb - Son & Daughter Can't go wrong with Brian May and a bit of delay. The way he plays his fireplace is one of the finest, most recognisable sounds in Rock. Kudos to the pube headed, astrophysicist, Angie Watts wick dipper.

The first choice front players we have looked awfully remote in a lot of games (particularly away) last season. We all love their confidence in front of goal and their conversion rate, but often Shola would have to come on and would look like Shearer in comparison, winning headers and battling to hold up play. Carroll is much better than either of the first choice players we have at that, and I think would be used more to alleviate the "backs to the wall" situation we often found ourselves in, and coped admirably under.

Seems a strange decision by Liverpool when he had just started to find his feet. Great performances in the cup final, in the 4-1 win over Chelsea and in his only 90 minutes for England at the Euros. I'd have him back in a second...despite calling him worse than muck when he left & ripping the piss when he came back to play.
