  1. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-18978483 So this is where all the rain has come from this summer.
  2. The espadrilles and plimsolls one is almost satrical in how perfectly it encpsulates the undefeatable marketing world of big business. Everyone knows they're about as cool as Norris off Coronation street, but 5 years back a load of goths and hippies dipslayed their hatred for evil shoe making corporations that exploit foreign workers by wearing the shittest shoes they could get at £2 a pop off the market. These people didn't care about looking as mint as i do, they read No Logo and decided enough was enough. Millions of people couldn't live with themselves spending more on Adidas advertising than on Adidas production. So they switched to pound store tramp shoes. The more people that made this stand, the more fashionable it became and the more people who hadn't read No Logo started wearing them to fit in. This went on to such an extent that Adidas wanted some of the new market and started making shoes just as shit as the ones being sold on Grainger market stalls. The twist being these styles save even more money on production, such basic designs can be knocked out much cheaper...and they STILL mark them up to an unbelievable degree, so people are paying £100 for plimsolls they'd have worn for PE at school which their mam paid 50p for. The No Logo folk have improved profitability at Adidas.....and made my visits to the trainer shop that much shitter, it's all gash now. Bastards.
  3. Rather than go forward through the market, King street and Ocean Road off the fery you should turn left. Go over the bridge wih a lush view of the mouth of the Tyne and up thecoast, past the satue of Dolly Peel, down to the yachting club and little haven, past the Groyne and the pier. A much nicer (though longer) route to Marine Park.
  4. The homicide rates haven't dropped so dramaticlly since the late 80's peak from any effective policing. It's down to abortion being lagalised.
  5. But owning a bit of weed gets millions jail time. Fucking criminal.
  6. Guns don't kill people, nutters do. The nuclear codes should be available to all, with a button in every home....because nutters will do these things whether you restrict access to highly dangerous tools or not.
  7. The coach barking "graft!" sounds English
  8. Was the killer here ethnic btw? Think it was just a black outfit.
  9. via @youtube #fcb under 11s versus #afc Cal South State Cup Semifinal between Barcelona-USA and Arsenal FC. A clinical display of possession futbol. 2022 will be no better than 2012. English haven't moved on from "GRAFT!"
  10. Confused by the piss taking "AMBITION" posts. Hasn't van Persie said that's exactly why he is leaving? Am I missing some level of meta humour or is this exactly the sort of thing we would have to look forward to when we qualify for champions league year on year without taking the extra step to challenge?
  11. He bought the club and the mortgage of 70m had to be paid. That's part of the purchse price afaic. So he's since covered the losses he's generated to the tune of £70m. £14m a year. As the man who released a statement to say he had planned to spend £20m a year he's gotta be happy with his saving there.
  12. http://mabsonenterprises.bandcamp.com/track/call-me-maybe-acapella-147-times-exponentially-layered I love Dan Deacon
  13. Keep selling millions of guns a year, billions of over the counter bullets....because there's no way to collect back every gun already out there at the moment? Strange attitude.
  14. It must be as bad as the critics are saying.... It keeps going... http://observer.com/...istopher-nolan/ Fanboys, can't take that kind of shizzle.
  15. Donaldson never seems to have much to say for himself. Apart from being a right lefty about racism and how shite pundits can be, he never gets as excited about football as he does about those 2 things. He seems to be on there more as a comedian than a pundit. Which is good for the mix of that show. Aye, Luke Moore, always seems to be him that'll make original and in depth points on tactics, abilities and lesser known leagues or players...the rest just seem to spend a lot of the time agreeing with him and repeating his point with different words...or making a cock joke when he's done.
  16. The fella from zonal marking The Portsmouth fan from the football ramble Iain Macintosh Daniel Finklestein
  17. As i said, it's a great way to go about your long term strategy. Absolutely a good thing. But you also have to roll with the punches of a season. I don't think it was either Cisse or a CB, I think we just didn't buy a centre back as we didn't have anyone we were willing to pay the asking price for. *Pre Cisse we scored 26/24 (1.5 per game), after his arrival 20/14 (1.4), so although he was a revelation and a clear asset, the team as a whole weren't any more potent....he just took the goalscorers role.
  18. Applying the analogy back to football, that's exactly what Ashley did up to 2009, the fucking idiot. But every year since, we've done better, spent more, lost less, finished higher up the table. There's a level of absolutism about your complaints. Until Ashley wins a title you won't have him given any credit. Until he starts going backwards again I think it's best only to keep his failures in mind, while respecting the improvements.
  19. I don't think the club did what was being cried out for in January. It's comendable that we went and spent £8m on a striker, it was a long term target we got at our price, a good deal less than they'd been asking. But with Ba banging the goals in and Shola, Best, Lovenkrands and Ranger all available to play alongside him or to cover it wasn't what was vital for the final push. That we could secure him didn't mean we couldn't fix the glaring problem as well either. Without Taylor our centre back situation was (and still is) woeful. Simpson and Williamson started as our centre backs against Monaco this week, with Perch as cover. We had nowt but Coloccini available most of the season after Taylor was crocked, and we did nowt (have still done nowt) to sort that. The policy is to buy the players that can turn a profit as opposed to those that can make an immediate impact on our season. Until Taylor got injured we weren't even conceding a goal a game (11 in 12), after that it jumped to more than one and a half (40 in 26).
  20. True. Of course only a fucking idiot would shoot from their own box or borrow money to buy lottery tickets. Most would play the ball forward to a good poition in or around the opposition box, or earn some money of their own, buy food, heat, water and that...then if they have a little left over, buy a lottery ticket.
