It's much better than IB or DP. I prefer it to KB2 too, not KB though. It's in that brand of the ridiculous though. Would love to see him go back to a JB, PF, RD style of realism rather than these comic strips. I had hoped IB would be a straight faced war film. The thing about QT is he's trying to cover all his favourite genres. Gangster, Kung Fu, Western, War, Grindhouse, Car chase. His problem is whatever genre he is doing, they only fall into one of the two worlds he's often talked about in his films. The real world or his hyper reality. The only other director that's attempted to jump around so much is Stanley Kubrick.....Gangster, Sci-fi, biblical epic, war, comedy, historical drama, horror....porn. But every film he did looked totally different. Embraced the form he was working with while also advancing it. QT has pulled that off a couple of times, but he doesn't so much move from one genre to another. He pulls the genre to where he is and filters it through his style.

Generally, over a 38 game season these things do even out. But what you have to think about is how many 38 game streaks are played around the world. Every season there are 92 in England alone. there are hundreds of 38 game streaks in the top leagues in Europe. Thousands of them around the world...in a single year. Over...say....a decade, of the tens of thousands of 38 game streaks played by teams, it's a statistical certainty that at least one sequence of 38 games will generate more points than should be expected. Toss a coin 10 times you would expect it to even out to about 5/5. Repeat the test 100 times you'd expect overall the average to even out to 5/5...but you would get some 7/3s or 8/2s. Do it tens of thousands of times and you would perhaps see a 9/1 or a 10/0. The notion that "it evens itself out over a season" is a fallacy. It can do. but not necessarily. The stats back up the facts here though....the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the statistics.

This is the one thing I've been thinking about in the week since watching it. Not the volume of blood flow in the film which I thought was balanced perfectly between nauseating in the scenes of racist abuse and cathartic in the revenge scenes. That sort of thing follows a long tradition from Sanjuro to The Wild Bunch to Kill Bill. What I've been thinking about is the symbolism and whether it was too heavy handed or not.

I returned the Harry Potter Bluray collection I'd received as a gift at christmas on Sunday just before the news came out. So that's a relief. No idea if it was bought from there in the first place like. Hope I wasn't the straw that broke the camels back.

Skyfall Had to Wiki Komodo Dragon to check they attack humans. Apparently they do. Kermode & Mayo really overhyped it for me. Enjoyed some of the set pieces and the nods back to the older bonds. But they were going on like the Oscars snubbed it. Wasn't better than any of the first 3 Bourne films ans none of them got (best film) Oscar chatter.

A 26 year old who has played his entire career in relatively low paying France moving to one of two relegation threatened clubs where the money is better isn't a greedy twat. There's a barber in South Shields called Stoney's Lad who owns it is Alan. Cousin of Steve. Go and get your haircut there, he'll talk Newcastle all day long. Been to a few away games with him, and often have a drink with him before home games. Never got a single piece of ITK from him whatsoever. And they are close. Went to each others weddings, he gets complimentary tickets all the time. Either Steve Stone is the consummate professional or no-one sat on the bench has a clue what goes on. I think it's the latter and they have no say on what roles they can create for new hires.
