I got a text suggesting the same thing after we signed Sissoko. Asked if it was mathematically possible. Ignoring the fact my mate couldn't do 15 x 3...I'd say the title chase is most definitely ON!!

The Jewish lobby's kicking up a fuss over straight forward political comment like this now. Not in the least bit anti-semitic. I suppose if Murdoch wants to christen any more kids in the river Jordan then he had to apologise. The cunt.

Think we'll lose this and beat Chelsea.

Npower just sent us a bill for £900.... For a property we moved out of in August....when they refunded almost £300 two weeks ago. They all make these cock ups from time to time. As I was closing the call to confirm, the wifey on the other end seemed shocked I hand mentioned compensation for the upset and asked if I didn't want to complain. I said I couldn't be arsed. She said she'd do it all for me. Amazing these companies are touting for complaints.

I'm no runner, but we went there 4 days, walked the bay 2 of those days and cycled it (over the bridge and got the boat back from Sausalito) another. It is lush.

Back in 2003 wages were about equal to TV money. It grew to more than two and a half times as much as we got from media by 2007. Following relegation it was just shy of 300%. TV money and wages are just about even again now.
-
It's hard enough to get close on transfer fees, let alone wages. Just have to be patient to compare wages when the books come out. As it stood in the last accounts though, wages at the club were about the same as they had been when Ashley took over, having grown and then been reined in by £20m....

Non-TV income maxed out at the £61.2 in my previous table. Was your £50m not based on the Delloitte numbers being in pounds when those amounts (turnover of 130m+) are Euros?
-
Turnover this year is supposed to be £94m. TV money grows exponentially as long as you stay in the top flight. I was daft to estimate it when the cost to the club in commercial/matchday earnings is easy to caluclate by taking TV money away from turnover... So "other" income is down £23.5 from when he arrived, it was just over £60m then and just shy of £40m now. More than the £15m estimated, but half the £50m you suggest. Is it a bad thing that a chairman looks at the extra money coming into the game from TV deals and passes the savings to fans with cheaper tickets? My season ticket costs little more than it did in 2006...and I was in the heavens of L7 then, not virtually pirtchside in the Gallowgate.

Not sure if I hoyed Sissoko in. I'll do it now

Should also add you're mixing £s and Euros. The Delloite lists are always in Euros. In £s the highest we ever went pre-Ashley was £96m In that year, with champions league, we made over £40m from TV...last year, without any european money, it was just over £50m. But turnover remained about that £90m mark. Ashley has dropped about £15m from our other income on those numbers.

He's less than £20m up on transfers all told now.

It's all well and good to cherry pick the 03/04 season (where we were in the Champions league and Spurs weren't in any European competition) to highlight how far ahead we were at one point...but that ground was ceded to them long before Ashley arrived. To blame him for them making up that ground is wrong. Compare the turnovers of the 2 clubs in the years leading up to and immediately following the buyout. Ashley is only resp[onsible for the last season in the chart above. I don't think he did much wrong in year one either. He backed Allardyce, it didn't work so he brought in Keegan for the end of the season. Spurs had already taken a massive leap ahead of us before Ashley arrived though and were eating up that champions league money we had been relying on to bloat turnover and pay for big money signings. You know I agree almost entirely with you about Ashley, but I don't think you need put on rose tinted specs when looking at the disaster of 2004-2007, and the lack of ideas that the incumbent board had to sort it out. That's why Hall cut his losses, and that's why Shepherd hasn't invested elsewhere. It had gone from a millionaires game to a billionaires.

"It's not worked out in an ideal way. The whole situation has become a bit too public really hasn't it?" Harry Redknapp on Odemwingie Wonder if there was any self awareness when he said it.

Profits are up. Turnover isn't. TV money has almost trebled from just over £20m to just shy of £60m since 2005. That will increase by another 50% next season to over £80m. Turnover (having fallen drastically) has just returned to the £90m mark. Wages having increased out of hand, have only been returned to the £50m mark (but are on the rise again) Losses have been wiped out with the increased TV cash and the reduced wage. The big profit from last year was from th Carroll sale.

Quoting that amount as inherited debt when he bought the club is very generous to Ashley BW. The loan he had to pay back upon purchase was half of that amount. He then spent tens of millions in his first transfer window, incurred £20m, £15m and £17m loss making seasons and got us relegated all of which he had to cover with additional loans from his own pocket. This is what has added up to the £150m debt we currently have....on top of the purchase price.

Maybe only UK born doctors could treat UK born citizens and immigrant doctors could treat other immigrants.

They reckon it's going to be a £10m profit returned for 11/12. 15 years before income of that amount would be enough to repay his loans. But as the plan is not to pay off any loans, I'm sure it's not a consideration. The plan will always be to hold on until an offer comes in that will return a profit. The value of the club will increase when the new deal kicks in if we're in the top flight...it would need to be £300m+ to get Ashley interested though...not sure the appetite is in the market at the moment. Clubs aren't changing hands like they were 5-10 years ago.

Pretty forgettable film like. Best joke was the bad guy doing a pump at the end of his date with the wifey. -
Mind this is probably a moment where Ashley can say his plan is working. Previously when he was facing a relegation battle as a businessman he could not afford the risk of pouring any money into the transfer kitty. The fact that this season he could have a look at how we competed up until christmas, and then when it wasn't good enough, the club could afford to buy it's own way (hopefully) out of trouble, with what look like cost effective purchases, without Ashley having to bail it out, that's what I would imagine he and llambias would say is the perfect model for them.
