If we're critiquing the Starbucks then here's the responses from some other corporations... https://theintercept.com/2017/01/29/silicon-valley-is-letting-trump-get-away-with-it/ Think Starbucks have got it better than many.

Plan to defeat ISIS: ensure that people fleeing ISIS rather than join and support are forced to remain in ISIS strongholds, join and support them. Trump Logic.

It's a widespread and not even controversial view among liberals https://freedom.press/news/how-obama-administration-laid-groundwork-trumps-coming-crackdown-press/ https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/jan/25/compromise-doesnt-work-political-opponents-chelsea-manning http://www.truthdig.com/report/item/obamas_neoliberal_legacy_rightward_drift_and_donald_trump_20170103 https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/nov/17/american-neoliberalism-cornel-west-2016-election https://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2016/11/11/glenn-greenwald-trump-will-have-vast-powers-he-can-thank-democrats-for-them/?utm_term=.8695fda6f358 https://theintercept.com/2017/01/28/trumps-muslim-ban-is-culmination-of-war-on-terror-mentality-but-still-uniquely-shameful/

I'm not sure how you can separate Obama's positions and how Trump is able to exploit them. If Obama had sought to have Bush, Cheyney and the other architects of the US torture regimen punished for their crimes then Trump would not be free to advocate torture or propose it to his military or intelligence agencies. It would be a crime presidents daren't commit. We are where we are, but it seems to me the only aim right now is to get Trump out as soon as possible and protest his actions rather than the extent of all presidential power. There should be a longer term target of rolling back many of those powers that have been bestowed over generations. EDIT: and again, I agree with your fears, just think he's extending what we've seen before rather than reinventing what it means to be a president.

I don't want this to come across as a renunciation of your point, because it's very valid to criticise the massive dangers that Trump represents, but for me, it's only to the extent that he exacerbates issues that have already had the groundwork laid by previous presidents. Trump is exercising the powers given to him by predecessors who never considered what they were legitimizing and for who. It's them who changed the nature of it. In addition to the above, Trump can assassinate American citizens without accusation of a crime, charge or trial, anywhere in the world. He can also bomb or send troops to any country he likes without congressional approval. People who refused to criticise THEIR side when they did it are deligitimized when it comes to extolling the dangers of Trump.

The Revenant - Wor lass said to put it on because she likes Leo. As the bear was mauling him she went on her instead and said "this is awful" I was mouth agape. I sez to her "well, it' not like anything you've seen before, which is always a good thing" she didn't agree. I enjoyed it. 3 and a half stars. Moana - 20 minutes in I thought it was another anodyne disney heroine film like Mulan or Brave, but it was worth sticking with. Turned into Disney's The Abyss. Lots of funnies and girl power without too much Mary Janing, though quite a bit. 3 and a half stars. -

Momentum have hijacked the Labour party entirely by getting a few thousand people to vote for a leader millions of non-members deem unacceptable. This looks a much more traditional move to incremental change (if it succeeds) in that corporate democrats will be forced to move left and vote more liberally or face losing their mandate. To me it more resembles the Tea Party approach to moving establishment republicans farther to the right than it does the momentum approach of taking over the asylum. Momentum should have run as a UKIP of the left if they want to keep Labour MPs honest.

Ungrateful for being locked up and tortured most of her adult life. I'm impresssed he actually used her chosen name. Would have expected him to take the politically incorrect approach of sticking with Bradley. That's how low the bar is for Trump.

I think the hardest hit do have the wherewithall. Many that wouldn't pass a policy test if they had to take it before voting still know well enough that they've had fuck all to cheer in decades and they've turned to Corbyn, Trump, Sanders, Farage, Brexit etc in response to that. Anything but what we have. It's the entrenched political class who seem disgusted by these upstart movements. The educated classes seem to think it will be catastrophic and we MUST stick with the status quo so that everyone doesn't end up in the bottom of the barrel with the have nots.

Democracy doesn't fail because people vote the wrong way. It fails because it quickly becomes a stagnat pool of self interested elitists that stifle debates to a very narrow received wisdom, and work for the richest in society rather than the poorest. ...a bit like communism.

It goes back to what I said before. Another Trump bashing stat that has no relevance and only serves to entrench his supporters in their conviction that his opponents are dishonest. Trump pushes this agenda because the angrier the angry middle americans are, the better. he doesn't care about the overall popular vote. Even I get angry when Hilary supporters bang on about it. He won the popular vote in 30 states. Hilary only won the popular vote in 20. That's the system. New York and California don't get to export all the jobs and people to their state and leave middle America decimated by virtue of having a larger volume of inhabitants.

Trump can't fail. American corporations waiting for him (or Hilary) have been holding $2.4 trillion in profits overseas to avoid paying taxes on them Whether he spends those tens of billions of taxes that start coming in on something pointless like a wall or roads or on something sensible like Schools and Teachers, he'll be putting people to work.

Aye, the 1 in 3 black men having served time stat is incredible. Bill tried to do a mea culpa for her before the election, but couldn't help defending himself from against black lives matter. -

But he's only reacting to widespread mockery from the press/Twatter that his inauguration was as small as his hands. That side by side picture was the first I saw of anyone making anything of the attendance. And before trump said a word in response I thought it was wank mischief making. The same use of trump as a ratings, retweet, like generator that saw his election coverage soar and took him to the white house.

There's a danger in piling in on Trump over such things in my mind. It's made me cringe a bit at the left tbh. The current default is to hammer him for anything and everything. So the first black american democratic president being inaugurated in a clear majority democratic state with better celebrities performing more popular songs drew a bigger crowd than another elderly white Rebublican whose entire persona is built on winning votes from Middle America. I'd expect nothing else. There's hardly many Duck Dynasty viewers going to fly in for it is there? His supporters are only assured of his claims that the media are dishonest when they spend time on such nonsense. I think that is why he forces these issues to the top of the agenda. Those focusing on it are walking right into the trap and it's a vicious circle.
