Has financial criminality caused you to move bank?
Happy Face replied to Happy Face's topic in General Chat
Yeah, as discussed, the new bank do it all for you...and monitor requests on the old account for 12-18 months to make sure nothing gets forgotten. It's like doing an energy switch, all you need to do is apply and they do everything else. I think some current accounts offer much better deals than others and it's well worth shopping around. The Santander current account gives a better rate of interest than most ISA's out there at the moment (3%). I've moved all my savings into the current account and don't need to worry about switching it or re-applying every year for the highest rate. Obviously it's not tax free that way unfortunately. Cashback on all gas, electric, water, phone, council tax, mortgage, internet etc. bills too with no faffing on to get it with points or owt, just paid directly into your account. -

2 direct debits on the Halifax one and they'll give you £5 a month I have my wages paid into Halifax and a standing order to move them straight into Santander the next day, leaving enough for my contact lens and mortgage DD for the sole reason of getting that free money. It's a couple of pints I was the same with Barclays. Opened an account as a student and never thought of changing for over a decade, despite them giving me fuck all in return. Ignoring the morality, it pays to switch your bank regularly though, as you would your phone, gas, electric, tv etc http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/compare-best-bank-accounts If they have moved away from the personal service why do customers still have the "bank for life" attitude that fills their coffers? -

I googled "local bank newcastle" and got Handelsbanken. They seem a canny lot. Don't allow bonuses for the most part, no sales targets etc. Am I missing their evil? -
There are 5 main UK banks (HSBC, Lloyds, RBS, Barclays, Standard Chartered) and every one of them has incurred massive fines due to their criminal behaviour. None of these fines match the profits made on the back of criminal behaviour, no-one has been jailed for the crimes and no new regulations have been put in place to ensure any restraint in future. Do you bank with any of them? What would it take for you to switch? Do you hunt the best deal and take the best offer for your financial wellbeing? Do you just leave your money in one bank and not pay any attention to the rate you get from them or the criminality they engage in? I folow it all closely and am more disgusted than most people i talk to.....yet I've still got a mortgage and a current account with Halifax (owned by Lloyds). i have an occasional moment of clarity where I realise i am part of the problem....but then I get an excellent deal Anyone else got more morals and moved all their money into the co-op?

That pointless New Years resolution thing...

It's the one next to Sambuca's. It's the only one I know that's set up like a retail outlet down the fish quay. I've only had prawns, crab, mussles and that sort of thing from there, but I'm sure the fish will be fresh as fuck. -

We were in 2 minds about going to a family wedding in Canada but it looks like they've hit the rocks so it won't happen. Probably use the money on the house now. We still have granny carpet that.

Really? I love Jeremy Scahill's writing and whenever he is interviewed I think he's funny and fascinating. He's canny on Twitter too. Not seen the film yet though, so it could be that working from a script robs him of his character. -
I was going to see if I noticed the battery draining quicker without JD. Couldn't find the setting and was getting annoyed so just uninstalled altogether I only had the free version though so maybe need the full version to ignore for Spotifty.

I've worked out my issue. Was doing my head in that I had a 3G signal strong enough to watch Sky Go at work, but it would say "no internet" after a single song every time. It was Juice Defender. When the screen times out Juice Defender disables wifi and 3g to save energy. The daftee. Stopped it and now my playlists are shuffling like a dream.

Spot on. They'd have to make the final the richest prize in football. At least 5 times what it is now. Enough for an average foreign defender.

Without a comparison to his stints at other clubs you have no basis for how Pardew's has management has helped or hindered his maturity as a player compared to other managers. I base my assumption that Pardew has improved him on the pure number of assists and goals he's produced, but I'm also told he was instrumental (rather than an irregular magician) in the title winning team he was a member of and who am I to argue with people that saw it.

Think it's daft to attribute teams and make it that black and white. It's that sort of divisive "them and us" attitude that reduces the debate to worthlessness where either side is more interested in fighting their corner rather than offering or benefiting from any insight. It's the same thing you did with the team negative bullshit. Ben Arfa excites me more than any player since I got my season ticket when Robson arrived. He's an incredible talent. There's people on here that watched him regularly at previous clubs and know a lot more than me about what other managers have got from him so they have a thing or two to teach me about that and I wouldn't question it (much). I think even his most ardent supporters on here who defend him against any criticism and his harshest critics will agree that whatever talent he has is only being occasionally exploited though. Where disagreement comes in is whether it's down to Pardew's misuse of him and the players around him or down to the player and his attitude. I think it's both to some extent and there'll never be any consensus how much. I have been hugely exasperated by both his decision making and by Pardew's handling of him. There's only one way it will end well for him and us at NUFC though, and that is if he knuckles down and busts a gut to deliver what Pardew asks of him, because the only other alternative is that he doesn't see much more game time and ultimately goes elsewhere and another manager shows what more Pardew could possibly have got from him. Despite being the most talented player we have he's several rungs off being our most important player and I've no doubt Pardew will outlast him if he doesn't embrace the "vision" of the manager.

We've scored a couple of goals in the last few games from breaks down the right being cut back in the absence of HBA.... Man U Sissoko out on the right strode forward before pulling the ball back for Yohan Cabaye to side-foot past David De Gea from the edge of the box at what was once the Scoreboard End. Cue pandemonium in one corner of the ground. Palace Yohan Cabaye finished off a low right wing centre from Moussa Sissoko with a side-footed effort that deflected in off home captain Mile Jedinak and in at the Holmesdale End. We scored another from the right against palace, but the OG was hardly due to attacking pressure on the defender so I'll not include it

When you're considering the lack of players moving into space you have to consider how disheartening it must be for them to do that and then stand watching Ben Arfa take on the same man a couple of more times and then miss the target. This isn't exclusive to Ben Arfa. Gouffran failed miserably to find either of 3 runners yesterday, but that was down to lack of talent, he tried to find the runner. Ben Arfa more often than not will go it alone until he's in the box and then have a look if he can find time/space to shoot...if not, he'll pass.
-
Ben Arfa likes to dribble but is weak at holding onto the ball
-
I guess he's saying that Oscar offers a defensive contribution...and has therefore played twice as much as either of the other 2. Mourinho taking the same position with Mata as Pardew does with Ben Arfa.

Man City make 29% of their passes in the final 3rd. With an average of 500 short passes per game that's 145. NUFC are on 26% of 378. Which is 98. About two thirds as many.
