I don't mind people moaning about the bad shit or staying tight lipped about the good shit. But complaining about spending £30m+ in under 3 weeks seems to me to expose an intransigence of thought that doesn't deserve a response. Its unprecedented at Newcastle isn't it?
-
I don't blame them, just saying I'd feel awkeward in that position. "No, the company can't afford to employ you full time at £14k a year, now excuse me while I enjoy my £60k bonus. Yee Haw!!"
-
They have 500 stores worldwide, so I would expect that 2300 employees that are getting a bonus are only store managers and above. If store managers are getting it, I wonder how they can look any of the zero hours twats they're exploiting in the eye.

In terms of how much talent is being invested into the squad being put onto the pitch I'd say it's the most valuable statistic. Spurs are £30m up on transfers in the last 4 years, NUFC are £30m down. What does that tell you anbouyt squad quality? NUFC with a £60m bigger hole in their finances on transfers? Nothing really, it might lead you to assume Newcastle have spent more and so have the better squad. But knowing Spors have spent £160m gross on their squad and NUFC have spent less than half that tells you far more about the expected qualities of the respective squads.
-
Funny how the Ashley haters see the stats that support him as pointless and the Ashley lovers see the stats that damn him as pointless. It's fun presenting either side with any stats that might challenge their views.
-
Assuming Janmaat and Riviere sign at the quoted prices, it returns NUFC to a trend of spending higher amounts on transfers year on year since promotion following the blip in 13/14

Season Ticket Renewal/Apathy - £25 Half Season tickets

Never say never Stevie. Ashley could appoint Joachim Low and bequeath him £500m for players. Leave player negotiations to the manager, both in and out, remove all Sports Direct advertising, get in the champions league and challenge for the title. You wouldn't want to be sat at home mumbling "he's killing this club. not going back." Can't see it like. -
Never realised it was that high like. Fucking criminal outside of December.

Is Ashley now deciding on the teams we play
Happy Face replied to essembeeofsunderland's topic in Newcastle Forum
Not an issue to get worked up over like. Fergie was the most powerful manager in the league but he still took the team where he was told preseason, despite not being in the interest of his players to fly around the US or Asia for a fortnight before kick off. -

Howzat? Earlier today I quoted myself from January saying I expected us to spend big in summer. My issue is that people criticise Ashley where he's done OK and praise him where he's done awful. I've written here, on twitter, at the mag and my blog that Ashley is unfairly maligned for his transfer history. I'd want more spent, but he spends enough that we should be getting better results. Peoples won't give him any leeway there though. Ashley deserves unrestrained criticism for the financial decline he's presided over which has only been covered up by doubling TV revenue. But he gets praise on that score. -

Then again. £18m in a fortnight is almost double Ashley's max net spend in any year since buying us and the biggest 14 day outlay in our history. -

The way I look at it, all those new signings are better for having not trained under Pardew for over a year. We'd lost 14 in 20. At least we'll get the bounce from their enthusiasm and endeavour which Pardew always benifits from and then saps from his players.
-
I've tried not to criticise the transfer policy too much since promotion. It's been the bare minimum, but it's been acceptable, not Ashley's worst crime by a long stretch and enough investment to match Everton and that. As it stands we have a starting front 6 of... Cabella Sissoko Tiote Gouffran S De Jong Cisse With places on the bench to come from... Ben Arfa Anita Bigirimana Marveaux Gutierez Obertan Ameobi Campbell Armstrong That's a far stronger second string than I thought we had this time last year. Perhaps a stronger starting selection too, if De Jong and Cabella do what you hope.

Complaining about something that works because you prefer something that doesn't? Apple thrive on people like this.

The idea that we purposely sat back from Christmas last year does Pardew to much kindness. He was desperate to win games and just couldn't. -
Have you tried another device?

You're learning. Or plagiarizing. Think it's verbatim what Chez said this time last year. Unless you've been reading about Rumsfeld. -
Just got home off week 4 run 1. 5 min walk 3 min run 90 second walk 5 min run 2.5 min walk 3 min run 90 second walk 5 min run I was surprised to find myself not thinking about it 4 minutes into the runs. Just looking about and taking in the view of Tynemouth. Must be working.
