Williamson is a perfectly serviceable, no nonsense CB imo. As long as he has a bit of quality alongside I'd embolden him for his cromulent displays. Think much of his criticism comes from being a conduit for every set piece which comes to nothing over the halfway line. Which isn't really fair. Can't remember who, but I agreed with whoever said he's someone who always plays at the peak of his ability, which you can't say for most of them.

...and of course Hughes guided Stoke, that's STOKE, to a higher finish than Pardew's Newcastle just last year.- 10610 replies

Hughes finished 6th with Blackburn in 2006 and 7th in 2008. He's been more consistent with higher position than Pardew in the past, that's how he got the Man City job.- 10610 replies

It was time for anti Pardew protests before the window opened. Again, you missed the Cardiff game though, so you'll have forgotten.- 10610 replies

A page ago you were saying he had us chasing champions league despite Cabaye flouncing. Now Cabaye was the entire difference between Champions League pre christmas and relegation form after. Was it the player or the manager?- 10610 replies

Even when he played in the middle he was hardly destined for success. At Man City he had Elliot behind him, Taylor alongside, Simpson and Jonas as full backs. Wouldn't have known if he was coming or going.- 10610 replies

Ben Arfa's got history at every club he's ever been at, so as much as I loved watching him, I'm not going to defend the bloke too much. I'm sure he'll piss off more mangers in future too. Mbiwa though, was dealt a tough hand. He played all his first games in the league alongside Steven Taylor when Coloccini fucked off for a start. Poor sod.- 10610 replies

Why did you want him gone last November then? Constraints were worse then. We're spending much more now and have more to spend in January.- 10610 replies

CT back on the straight talk express about Pardew then? When Hughton was sacked - "Today with Hughton sacked and Pardew on the radar [Ashley] is a wanker." http://www.toontastic.net/board/topic/28931-martin-jol/page-3#entry818046 On Pardew's appointment "Jesus fucking christ....." http://www.toontastic.net/board/topic/28927-who-do-you-want-as-the-next-manager-of-nufc/page-2#entry817649 One day later - "I think some of the reaction is a bit over the top once you stop to think things through." http://www.toontastic.net/board/topic/28926-alan-pardew/page-36#entry820386 2 days later - "tell me in footballing terms why Hughton's better." http://www.toontastic.net/board/topic/28926-alan-pardew/page-67#entry821577 After Pardew's first game v Liverpool - "What a difference a good win makes. We really are a team who should be chasing Europe" http://www.toontastic.net/board/topic/28973-newcastle-united-3-1-liverpool/page-13#entry822423 In 6th place as we chased Europe - "Im beginning to wonder if there is much more he can do for us." http://www.toontastic.net/board/topic/28926-alan-pardew/?p=1047234 When Kinnear was appointed - "I want/wanted Pardew gone last November" End of last season - "Where does this idea that Im pro Pardew come from? " http://www.toontastic.net/board/topic/35057-shane-ferguson/#entry1275009 Today - "So we might, might finish a place or two higher, IF we got a GOOD one and IF it worked. When Pardew has been backed with a good team he has managed to get results." You're a joke. Pardew was shite when he arrived. He's still shite. He was shite when we finished 5th. He was shiter the last 2 seasons. He was shite at West Ham and he'll be shite whichever backing he gets wherever he goes. There have been times when sacking him would have been counter-productive. It was only at those times you wanted him sacked.- 10610 replies

Ashley might be ready to invest more in a manager now. Don't laugh. Times/finances are different. Ashley's aim since the Keegan debacle has been to get the club into a self-financing position. He doesn't want to be putting money in. The profits the club is turning over in the last few years mean the club can afford a manager worthy of the Premier League. During the cost cutting exercises Hughton, Kinnear & Pardew were all brought in because they were cheap. Hughton was let go just before contract renewal discussions were due to start. He deserved to double his money for what he'd done. Pardew came in cheaper than that. Ashley just wasn't willing to pay for something the club couldn't afford. Clearly the club can now afford better. So far this year we've spent 239% of our highest spend in any previous transfer window, net. Since promotion the club has been investing much more on the playing staff... What was a consistently improving profit on player sales for the club, has been reversed, so we're now spending more on players than we're recouping. The spend isn't growing as quickly as the profits did, but it's clear to see. And most of us wonder where the rest of the cash is. So far we've only invested a fraction of the cash reserves at the club. There is still a huge debt, but as long as that's not recalled, it wouldn't make sense to me for a man who is all about growing his businesses to limit the clubs potential for no discernable reason. He's been cautious, and will remain so, but the club can now continue to operate within it's means with a better profile manager, better backroom staff, and a significant yearly transfer budget. That wasn't the case 4 years ago when Pardiola strode into town. I think getting another season was reward to Pardew and his staff for what they had done previously. Ashley is very loyal, and rewards loyalty to him (rather than to player a la Hughton). Pardew failing to repay that loyalty will allow the pair to part on agreed terms and a new man brought in to take the next step.- 10610 replies

Fella who broke the Coloccini story apparently. The 2 game thing is just a headline grabber. Just pleasing to hear that attitudes in the club may be turning against Pardew, ramping up the pressurre. Bodes well for the December run where I'm reasonably certain we'll struggle to take a point.- 10610 replies

Cheers, I'll have a look. As with a lot of this stuff, I love the apps themselves, but if they hammer the battery or memory then that's my priority and I'd rather stick with the perfectly good native apps and minimise the other apps which are being a drain. Google Now was great, but it raped my battery to use any of the beneficial automated features. Had to go.

Is link bubble a full browser or does it work with chrome? For me, I think the ease of my bookmarks syncing across all devices will be preferable to links opening in the background. Action Launcher looks quality though, cheers.

You weren't at the Cardiff game were you? Might excuse your ignorance, but surely you read the reports afterwards. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/may/03/newcastle-united-cardiff-city-premier-league-match-report http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/10798438/Newcastle-United-3-Cardiff-City-0-match-report.html The very large majority hold their tongue in preference of supporting the team, but given the opportunity have shown how keen they are to vent their contempt.

Seems to be half and half. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/before_i_go_to_sleep/ Think it's only the Daily Star that's gone OTT there. -
As opposed to 50,000 that paid £400 and sit mute. That will do a world of good won't it. Best place for the angriest fans is in the stadium making an angry noise. If you just feel apathetic rather than angry fair enough hoying it in.

Before I Go To Sleep For the first hour I enjoyed the psychological thriller/whodunnit. Could have even called it Hitcockian if it wasn't almost entirely one exposition scene after another. Hithcock showed you everything with his camera, the characters explained very little. I think every scene in this is either a conversation in which someone reveals more details to Kidman, or in which she talks directly into camera explaining her feelings to the audience. Despite that, it notched things up slowly but surely so you weren't sure who could be trusted. In retrospect a lot of the uncertainty is down to complete disbelief that the bad guy would Anyway, there's a point an hour in where they flip from the very quiet measured approach which had been somewhat effective, to a psychotic action movie. It lost me from then on.
